No being familiar with his/her situation, I can??t address the previous customer??s comment other than to say that I realize making every customer 100% happy all the time is tough (nearly impossible). But I feel compelled to share my own positive experience with Charlotte Plastering.
I??m a landscape architect, and one of my recent projects required stuccoing some new elements (an outdoor kitchen connected to the house; some added stairways), as well as repair some existing wall areas. Having never before needed to have stucco repaired I had no prior experience with Charlotte Plastering before a supplier recommended them to me. It??s not overly dramatic to say that my reputation as an architect & project manager lives or dies by the quality of the tradespeople building it, as well as how efficiently the process goes. Bad ones (as is often the case when I reluctantly agree to work with contractors the homeowners choose themselves) can cause more grief than you??d imagine, with delays and poor performance. As it turned out, these guys were an absolute pleasure to work with.
At every step along the way, from the president Ray to the office manager to the crew leader to the guys doing the actual labor, they handled our project professionally without a hiccup. First, their price quote was clearly the most favorable among competitive bids. They patiently revised it to accommodate the homeowners?? desire to ??value-engineer?? aspects of the work. They went to great pains to create a color match as close to exactly the same as the house (which I??ve discovered is quite a challenge). They showed up when they said they would; they communicated when they said they would; the people in charge all made sure to check on the work quality. Lastly, all the Latino employees I dealt with were fully fluent in English; this is of no small importance, as I??ve had many previous experiences where projects turned out in a disappointing way because the Hispanic workers, no matter how polite or how earnest their efforts, could not understand the nuances I tried to convey about details. In short: these folks made me look good, and they didn??t add to my gray hair.
Whenever the occasional need arises again for stucco work, I will unfailingly recommend these guys. My only disappointment is that they don??t also have a landscaping business, because if so I??d be keeping them busy all the time.

I had Charlotte Plastering install the cultured stone on the front of my home I was building. I will admit that when the job was finished it looked great and I was initially pleased. However a couple of years after moving in to my house I noticed a problem. The hardwood flooring in my dining room began to show signs of water intrusion near the corner of the front wall that was covered with the stone. After tearing out the interior of the wall and discovering that the entire wall was rotting, I began to check the outside covering. After some investigating with a water hose I discovered that water was running over the board that separated the Hardy Plank siding from the stone below and running behind the stone. The wall sheathing was completely rotten and the insulation was soaked. The water was running there because Charlotte Plastering failed to install any flashing above the stone or J-mould (j-channel?) as described in the install documentation produced by the stone manufacturer, Owens Corning. Charlotte Plaster initially came out looked at the install and said "Yes, we made a mistake". However when I asked Charlotte Plastering to pay to have repairs made it was a different story. They sent out an inspector who concluded that because an adjoining roofline didn't a have a flashing kick out that the water was coming from that roof and going into the wall. At that point Charlotte Plastering refused to do anything. Not wanting to have to go through a law suit while my wall rotted I had the repairs made and paid for it myself. The flashing kick out that they claimed was the root cause was installed however (again) after having this done water was STILL coming into the wall. It wasn't until I installed flashing at the top of the stone to properly seal it (AS SPECIFIED BY THE MANUFACTURER) that the water intrusion stopped. It is my opinion that Charlotte Plastering failed to properly install the flashing and/or J-mould that would have prevented this water intrusion. Being faced with the repair cost they had an inspector find an out for them and thus washed their hands of the situation. In my opinion Charlotte Plastering showed a penchant for weaseling out of a bad situation and an overall lack of character in their business dealings. I guess money means more than customer service and loyalty. I hope this helps anyone considering using Charlotte Plastering for any job to reconsider. I would NOT recommend them!
