Our family has used Cary Car Care since moving to the Raleigh area 12 years ago. I'm constantly saying, "If everyone operated their business like Cary Car Care, life would be GREAT!" We have always found them to be HONEST, above all!, and nice, knowledgeable, dependable mechanics. The ONE time they made an error (in 12 years) and sent us to a car dealership, they INSISTED on writing us a check that covered the cost of that expense. To me that was the epitome of honesty! Simply put, we can't say enough good things about Cary Car Care!

I had high hopes for this place based on reviews, but after getting auto service from them I have high suspicions they effectively utilize these rating services (city search, yelp and Angie's list) and pick and choose who they'll dupe next.
My first hesitation is when they told me my car needed a tune up which included new spark plugs and wires (sort of odd since I had this done one and a half to two years prior, I thought maybe that place didn't do something right; not so sure anymore). They also made some other recommendations, which did make sense, $800 later.
The real problem came when one day later steam was rolling from the hood, the engine light and heat light both came on. I figured I better park it before something breaks or makes it worse. I called CCC and they said they'll get a town truck. I had to find my own ride back to work. Now apparently something else "coincidently" broke, a $300 bill later. Granted this could have been coincidence, but a day later, after my first drive on the highway, for an issue I've never had before (thermostat stuck)??? They also made me pay for the $65 tow charge and they wouldn't give me ANY break on the labor. The only break they gave me was a "diagnostic fee" charge, which is quite peculiar because I never had them charge that fee the first time I took the car there. I believe they just threw that in their to make it look like they were giving me a break.
Now I'm not saying they sabotaged my car, but I have to say, the work they did prior was an indirect link to the new failure, possible direct link.
Honestly, my gut tells me this is not a very honorable place to do business. Basically, I forked over 800 bucks for stuff already done and was then given the TOUGH LUCK attitude for something else that broke down a day later.

Bottom line...you might want to STEER CLEAR from this place.

Cary Car Care is AWESOME! It is hard to find a good car repair that you can trust--but Cary Car Care will make sure that your car is repaired and/or running like new when you leave their shop! They also will be upfront and honest about the exact problem with your car and the cost to get it fixed! They are very professional and care about their customers! I will definitely continue to bring my car back to Cary Car Care and recommend them to friends and family!

Maybe 4.5 stars, they are not truly world class but they are tops for the area. I have worked near Cary Car Care for over a decade, taken my cars there for most repairs (and most maintenance/inspections). I have never had to take a car back for a repair to be redone. I have never had the car break again right after they fixed it.

I believe they've saved me far more than they've cost me over the years, by extending the useful lifetime of my cars through thorough maintenance and properly done repairs, and by accurate assessment of the car's needs. And from yearly inspections: when I get my car inspected anywhere else, they 'find' a problem. Cary Car Care only finds a problem if there's actually a problem.

They don't seem to be extreme experts; they are competent and can fix cars, that's all it takes :) Prior to moving to the Triangle, I lived in Cleveland. There, I had a more "world class" mechanic shop who really knew the cars, but, they also had more scare tactics and would talk me into fixing things that probably I could have let go a bit longer. I appreciate the conservative approach I get from Cary Car Care.

We went to Cary Car Care based on the reviews and we have not been disappointed. Any time we have had service they have explained the issues thoroughly and have felt confident with the quality of their work. They are great about communicating and we have never had to call them to inquire about the status of the repair. Paul (owner) is very personable and it is a pleasure to have found them!

As a family run organization, these guys have a lot of overhead. Additionally, these bandits believe in making an honest profit at your expense. Yes, their motto is accurate, in that, if they don't do the job right the first time, they'll make it right by charging you twice, if not three times. They assess labor by the "Mechanics Bible," a guide that suggests how long any repair should take an average mechanic to complete. It the repair suggests 3 hours in the bible/guide, they will charge you for 3 hours even if it took only 1.5 hours to complete. This is a ploy of many repair shops, but it doesn't make it right for the consumer to shell out money for services that are not actually rendered.

To add insult to injury, on any required parts, they use the cheapest OEM parts they can buy and mark up the price by 100%. It's a rule of thumb. With some parts, they get a lifetime warranty, however, if the part goes bad and you bring back a vehicle in 6 months with a bad water pump they previously put in, they'll charge you to replace the pump again and they'll pocket the free part.

Sadly, these seem to be very competent folks and I'm sure they are. They merely charge too much for their services and they "gypsie touch" their clientele. I was a loyal customer for several years until I noticed the pattern and finally realized I was getting taken.

Based on all the reviews I saw on the web, I went to this place. But my personal experience was so unlike everyone on this forum.

My car was problems over a month and I replaced things over many auto shops and when it finally didnt work, I searched the net and went to this guy. First of all to schedule an appointment he took 3 days..I waited for 3 days and towed my car to his place..I told him about the problems I had in the past and coughed close to $600 on my car earlier. He seemed fine to talk to initially..Couple of hours later he came with a quote of $2000 which seemed so exorbitant to me..It seemed to me that he was taking advantage of my situation as I had already told him all my problems..It was a shocker for me..I immediately found out about some other car care centers and got a quote from them on the phone..One of them said the work can be done within $1200, another one said it can be done $600 to $800. I searched all over the net and I found that the work can be done by a max of $1000. Which clearly meant that this guy was trying to swindle me..

When I tried to tow my car away from his workshop, he created a big fuss about it and gave me a lecture about their service..Hell! i'll never go back to this shop which is doing day-time robbery.

He might treat existing custoemrs well, but new users go with a pinch of salt...

Quality and attention to detail is superb. They often charge a bit more than expected, but rest assured the work is done correctly as if it were their car.

Customer Service seems hard to find these days. For nearly 20 years I've been doing business with Cary Car Care, and I can honestly say that neither my wife nor I have ever regretted choosing them to work on our cars. They've always taken the time to explain problems and when possible a couple of ways to deal with them. They understand that money is tight for everyone. Not a single time in nearly 20 years have I felt like I'd been taken advantage of. My wife would agree as well. Cary Car Care has a great staff of highly trained, certified mechanics. You'll see their pictures in the lobby. This company is made up of a great bunch of guys that do great work at a fair price. I trust them and have for years. No one like car problems but if you have to have work done, might as well go to someone that will prove they're the best. Bob B.

I have been going to Cary Car Care for several years and it's like visiting good friends when I have one of three different cars serviced. They are the best----super friendly on the phone and in person. Always have provided quality work and it's done on time. When I have an urgent need, they do their best to respond right then. Just recently I had the oil changed on an auto and was advised that I needed a hose for the air return---I panicked as I needed to leave town the next day with this auto and within two hours, they had the hose delivered and installed! I truly trust these folks to keep me as safe as possible with reliable autos and have never been disappointed. I recommend them to everyone. Paul, Paul, Byron, BJ and the whole group are great!!!.

Make sure to get a repair quote IN WRITING. My husband just had a new battery installed in his car. He called and asked how much a battery plus installation was, and was given a quote. I heard this converstaion. he clearly asked about installation. Deciding that they had the best price by about $30 (it's an expensive battery for his car), he called back to make an appointment. When calling back, he double checked his info (again, I he said "battery plus the installation"). They confirmed the price they had given him. When he went to pick up his car, it was about $50 more than his "quote." They claimed he only asked about the cost of the battery, not the installation. They were unwilling to do anything about it, nor did they really seem to care. He could have paid less at the dealership, and been given a loaner car while they did the work. We'll be going elsewhere for my brakes.
