I have a beautiful 7-year old boxer who had been on heart worm preventative medicine until last summer when I could not afford it due to financial issues. As a result, I found out she tested positive last month during her regular exam. I was heartbroken!! The vet tech showed me a written estimate to treat her that amounted to over $820!!! I can't afford to do that treatment! I sat in my car sobbing for 10 minutes before I could even leave their parking lot!! (My dog is my baby!! She sleeps with me every night curled up in my bed with me!!) She shows no typical signs of having the disease--no coughing, lethargy, or loss of appetite. From what I researched it takes 6-7 months for them to reach the heart and begin to do damage. Next, I called others vets in my area and found most places only charged between $400-500 for the same treatment! Same exact medicine and everything! I also found out there is a method called "slow-kill" that I thought fit my dog's situation better since she still runs and plays like she always has. I called Midway Animal Clinic back to discuss what I had researched, and they put Dr. Hanes on the phone with me and he immediately began to raise his voice at me (like a parent scolding a child) telling me that he hated the internet and when people researched in order to try to tell the vet how to treat their pets! He also said that if I didn't believe he had my dog's best interest at heart I needed to find another doctor. He also said they do not "match" what other vets charge for the service and he would not work with me on the price (even though I have been unemployed for 3 years). He then very curtly told me the conversation was over and I needed to find another doctor for my dog. Well, I did find another doctor for my dog! I took her back to a place in Kernersville where I had taken both of my dogs before. They are always very kind and caring! I DO NOT recommend Midway Animal Clinic at all!!! If this is the way he talks to someone who has just found out their beloved pet has something that could kill them I can only imagine how he treats some of the animals if he doesn't like them or is in a bad mood!!!! Please, please, please.....find a vet for your pet who cares about his patients and their "parents"!!!!!!!!

Dr. Steve Haynes is the best. He has a great practice. He has taken care of my dogs in the past and I was always pleased with the care we received.
Now he cares for my nephew dog. He has brought Peanut back from bad health problems several times.
He has the best tech also.

Dr. Haynes and his staff have cared for my four-footed children for 10 years. He has seen us through the good and bad times.
We have an 8 yr. old with chronic ear infections and he has to have his ears cleaned monthly. When my husband lost his job, Dr. Haynes gave us a break on the price so we could keep up the monthly visits. He has come in early and stayed late to take care of us and is by far the best, most caring vet I have ever had the pleasure of using. Hands down!!
His staff is also caring and concerned. Always making time to stop and pet my babies when we come in.
All around the very best. I can't say it enough!

Pros: Excellent vet, staff, not expensive

Cons: Not one!

Pretty good vet. But I agree with the other review the prices are pretty high. You can get another vet cheaper. The vet techs seem nice and care about animals

My chihuahua was pounced on by my pitt . Our chihuahua disappeared for 3 days. I found him hiding under the house near death. I brought him inside and gave him lots of water and when I tried to move him I found the wound. I called Midway animal clinic to see if I could bring him in and called the Humane Society to help us with the visit that cost nearly $100. Human Society gave us the ok so we took him up there. The vet came in and said that he had been in a dog fight over a female in heat. I knew this wasn't true because he had no other marks on him. Nothing but the wound on his belly. I told the vet this and he went on a rant about having my dogs neutered to prevent injuries like that. I told him what I had witnessed in my front yard and he said that that was not what happened and that he was in a dog fight. I've had enough animals in my life to know what a dog looks like after a fight and it's much worse that my dog was, with a lot more injuries. How can someone tell you that what you saw didn't happen? Especially if they were not there themselves? Unless there is a dire emergency, I will not take my animals there. It is worth driving to Arcadia Vet for friendlier, more affordable care.

Cons: high prices, arrogant staff

DR HAYNES AND HIS STAFF HAVE ALWAYS DONE EVERYTHING THEY COULD TO TAKE THE BEST CARE POSSIBLE CARE OF MY BABIES. WE HAVE EVEN HAD TO CALL HIM AT HOME FOR HELP AND REASSURANCE. IM SORRY YOU HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE, BUT THIS IS NOT THE NORM HERE.

Pros: BEST VET IN TOWN

.

Had semi-emergency, pet was having difficult time breathing, felt fortunate to get an early morning appointment, rushed there, worried about pet, were there early, and then we had to wait almost 30 minutes before the Vet finally came to the examination room, the first thing out of her mouth was to denigrate our having a flea collar on our pet, she insinuated that our house had fleas, took the flea collar off our pet and actually threw in into the trash, she was very intent on selling us flea control, my overall impression was that she hates living in the country and she hates country people, she was not friendly in the slightest, the only time she perked up was when she got a power thrill by tell us that BY FEDERAL LAW required us a rabies shot, extremely rude completely unexpected in a town like midway, she seemed offended when we told her we would wait to purchase pet medication until after we researched it, she actually made a special trip to the front desk just to tell us how wrong we were. I was extremely disappointed in this local veternarian. We were worried that our pet was about to die, and instead of addressing the health of our pet, launched into a sales pitch, she gave us absolutely no reason to ever go to this clinic again. I expected much more from a small town clinic. Next time there is a need we will drive almost any distance to avoid another experience like the one we had at midway animal clinic.

Pros: did not cause pet to expire while there

Cons: annoying vet

.

But I would say the prices are high (especially for families with tight incomes.) My family and I used to come here and have always been pleased with the quality care and attention the entire staff payed to your animals.
