I agree with the other review - great breads but desserts are really so-so. "Filled" crossaints weren't filled with bardly anything and the prices are pretty high. You've got a better chance at quality going to a grocery store.

This bakery is the best in Charlotte I have found for good, fresh bread. They sell out of their 2 stores (I think), through the Home Economist, and maybe other places of which I'm unaware. But, the most fun place to pick up their pestos, jams, and many types of bread is their stall at the Yorkmont Farmers' Market on Saturday mornings. They do also make desserts, but, besides their ever-so-flaky croissants, the desserts are not as impressive as their bread.

PROS: Breads
CONS: Desserts

This place is famous in Charlotte because they are local, and family owned I think. They have great bread and jams and spreads and you can usually sample them. Not cheap, but you can get day-old items for a dollar or a few dollars. Definitely worth a visit. Also have a location on Central Ave.
