I'd read this is the second largest festival in NC, behind the Azalea Festival, but I was still surprised at how big the Seafood Festival was. Lots of seafood, of course, much from local school and non-profit groups - steamed shrimp, crab cakes, fried flounder sandwiches, etc. Delicious and reasonably priced - cheaper than the state fair for sure. Beautiful setting on the waterfront. Rides. Crafts. Awesome fireworks show over the water Saturday night.

I have loved visiting the Seafood Festival. I always see someone I know and I get to taste what the Crystal Coast has to offer. It's a great experience.

When this NC Seafood Festival started years ago it was worthwhile to go and enjoy tasting various types of seafood from shark to squid and stuff inbetween. But last few years it's not the same. It's become too business like and expensive for what you get to taste. I don't recommend it anymore. :(
