*UGH* People like Katelyn D. (2nd reviewer) made me HATE food service when I was in college. Typical self-important, wannabe-cultured Charlottean. Get a life. If you go to a restaurant on their "50% off sushi" promotional discount night, expect a crowd (long wait). If that restaurant is staffed by non-native English speakers, expect a language barrier (potential for incorrectly quoted orders), and lastly it isn't McDonalds.....sushi is handmade edible art....if you want your sushi right away go somewhere that overcharges and doesn't offer "half off nights" and therefore isn't backed up with orders.

We love Kabuto's! There are other Kabuto's closer to our home in South Charlotte but this one is the best by far! We go there 2-3 times per month! We also participate in their Kabuto bucks program. You show your Kabuto card and get 1 Kabuto buck for every $10 that you spend. Also, check the CitiPass coupon book for half off entrees!

I had the worst experience of my life in a Kabuto's this evening. My order last week had been incorrect and I was treated disrespectfully. However, when I spoke to the manager he generously gave me $6 in gift certificates and promised me better service on my next visit.

I returned today for their 50% sushi night and once again faced an incredibly long weight and staff incompetence. The manager recited our order incorrectly 4 different times. When I spoke to the manager once our checks arrived, he asked what I felt needed to be done. I explained the situation to him, and reminded him that we had spoken last week for the same problems. I told him that I was not comfortable paying for a meal I was so dissatisfied with nor did I feel I would be back.

My hope was this manager would express some level of appreciation for his customers and attempt to improve the situation with promises for better service in the future, a partial comp. of the meal, etc. However, the manager simply told me "Fine, don't pay, don't come back." During this conversation he was disrespectful to my two friends and actually told one to shut up.

When I stood up to exit the restaurant, a customer at another table who was clearly a regular and had received multiple plates of sushi during our wait for a relatively small order looked at me and said "Sushi is not fast food, if you want that go to McDonalds, I've been waiting even longer than you!" Rather than inform this customer that the problem was not his, and he should not incite other customers, the manager agreed with him and informed me to "Get out now."

As I exited the restaurant, I was absolutely furious and hit the doors harder than I intended to. They opened rapidly and hit the walls, but no damage was done. The manager and half his staff ran out and proceeded to call the police who dismissed his complaint as there was no violence, we were already prepared to leave, and no damage was done. The manager then proceeded to be disrespectful, accusing my friends of slamming the doors and verbally abusing them even though I had actually opened the doors.

He also informed us that we needed to leave because his "entire staff was ready to go." The implication was that we would be at risk of violence if we remained any longer. I have never been treated more disrespectfully at any restaurant in my entire life. I feel that I was treated poorly to begin with simply because I am a 20 year old college student and the common belief is that I will be a poor customer anyway. The situation escalated through the manager's inability to take control and act in a responsible and dignified manner.

Yoshi's off of Harris Blvd. is much better for half price sushi on Wednesdays. For the best quality sushi, sushi 101, fusebox, and Nakato's are all better options.

Pros: 50% sushi is a good deal

Cons: Orders repeatedly wrong, terrible service, disrepect from manager

I absolutely love this restaurant!!! I have frequently visited your establishment and have fallen in love with the food. The hibachi shrimp and chicken is divine. I have made reservation for my girls to come and enjoy the show during dinner. I feel that they will love it for valentines day. the brother are very friendly and inviting. Keep up the good work!

The place is a bit pricey, but I expected that. I knew I'd be paying for the show as much as for the meal. What I didn't like was how my date and I were rushed from start to finish. Before we finished our soup, they brought out the salad. Before we finished the salad, they started the show. Before we finished eating our meal, they were bringing out the checks and passing out go-boxes for everyone. They were clearly trying to get rid of us so they could bring in the next group. The food is about the same as at any of those teppan-yaki places. The price is about the same. The show is about the same. But I definitely did NOT like being given the bum's rush.

Kabuto is one of the largest franchise Japanese restaurant in the south. Their style, both in food and environments are well done for the American taste. Personally, I think the food is okay. It is something I'm able to cook out of my stove. The difference is, you wont be able to do the neat tricks the chef do.

I don't visit Japanese restaurant alot, but I do visit this one. Mainly because I know someone that works there. Always a plus.

PROS: nice and friendly environment
CONS: get a bit crowded during sports season

I find this restaurant to be very above average, in its Sushi, menu, presentation, and freshness.
The staff, always go out of their way to make my family feel at home, even on a busy night. It is one of the best in the Charlotte area. I have been eating there for over 8 years, never with a bad meal.
