great BBQ friendly staff food is always hot and ready and fresh do think they need a bigger location.
Alfred & Charlies has a varied menu with your typical BBQ items. Breakfast is served all day and their pancakes were superb. We went at noon on a Saturday and were only one of two parties in the dining area. This is a good location for parties, one of the owners mentioned they had a birthday party there the previous evening.
Alfred and Charlie's is an old house converted into a restaurant. They serve all kinds of BBQ dishes that are very good and have an awesome breakfast menu. However, the service is not so great, so be prepared to wait. I know they do catering as well so maybe that is where their focus lies. Also, be prepared to be bombarded by Republican paraphanalia that covers the walls as you enter...

Alfred and Charlies BQ House is the best place to go for barbeque in Gaston County. YOu have to ask for what you want sometimes but waitstaff is not always on their toes. The best variety of sauces i have ever seen in my entire life! After reading the harsh reviews from other citysearch members i decided to check it out myself. Darlene and Alfred, the two owners of this awesome restaurant, are very nice with southern hospitality. I highly recomend this place. Good pit cooked barbeque, steaks, ribs, chicken of any kind, and banana pudding, you cant forget the banana pudding. It is usually crowded on saturday mornings, but it really is the best.

Alfred and Charlie's is the best all around restaurant in Gaston County. It is set in an old house and retains the at home feeling. The menu is well varied. I go there at least once a week, and I cannot recall the last time I actually had BBQ (although the BBQ is excellent as well). Try the fried turkey, BBQ chicken, homemade soups, or breakfast. You won't be disappointed in this one! Southern hospitality greets you at the door and follows thru with great food.
