Went here for a celebration dinner 8-9-13 for my daughter's graduation from nursing school, had my bank card info copied, sold to Georgia which some one then made and used as a credit card to swipe in Walmart yesterday at 1246 and purchase

Kanki is good if you've finished shopping and have dinner or lunch with out having to drive again. I had dinner there several times and as I am very picky on my sushi I did not enjoy my sushi dinner there. I thought most of nigeri sushi I

Kanki is a favorite of my family. We do mostly go on special occations. We also go with friends. It is more fun and when they are busy the service is better and food is always great! love it!! I usually make reservations and go to the one in Raleigh on Glenwood! Going tonight!

Pros: food is great! fun!

Cons: english is not the language of choice with the wait staff. Hard to get your point across.

Ultimately the best sushi in the triangle!! what sets them apart is the highest quality fish with no exceptions. The other places order secondary fish or say scraps at low cost because they pay their sushi chefs so much $$$$. Atmosphere is great. a bit crowded due to the mall traffic. And I hate going to the mall. Overall, excellent fish selection. If they offered an authentic menu Kanki would just be the best Japanese Restaurant in the Triangle. Also, try the Hibachi side!!!!! Ask for Phu!!! he ULTIMATELY the Best CHEF I have ever had for teppanyake in the nation......and i have been to at least 2 dozen teppan restaurants... He is ultimately the funniest, entertaining chef!!!!!

First of all...I'm writing the review on sushi....but the teppanyaki?...it's THE worst tasting I've had in country. But I soon found out that all teppan place in the triangle are the worst tasting i've had in country. So if you crave teppanyaki food...go ahead...because you have no choice.

Now for the sushi...I'm a fair judge on sushi...so I'll start by saying that some on their rolls are pretty good...some are not. I'm a nigiri sushi and sashimi eater. I enjoy rolls on occasion. With that said...I think the sushi and sashimi is probably one of the worst in town. They have descent rolls...but not the fish.. and the bad and long service didn't help much either. I would recommend this place for few of the good rolls they have...but definitely not for sushi or sashimi. I'm surprised I didn't get sick. I think there are plenty of other good sushi joints in town such as Waraji, Mura, Hayashi, etc.

Pros: Convenience...inside a popular mall, few good sushi rolls.

Cons: Everything else is bad.

First of all, I must agree that the service is awful. The waitresses are not friendly and they act as if you are a nuissance. Second, we waited for over 45 minutes after we ordered our food for the chef to come over to our table to prepare the hibachi. Also, I went there with some people that wanted hibachi, but I wanted sushi. When the waitress finally took our order, I was informed that sushi would take over an hour to prepare and I should order something else. It was a Wednesday night and they were not even that crowded! I wish someone would have told me BEFORE we were seated or right when we were seated. We would have gone elsewhere! Oh and my friends chicken was so tough it was not edible. Big flop of a meal!

I have been to Kanki on numerous occassions and it is one of my favorite restaurants. I love the sushi, it is terrific especially the california roll. I'd recommend the habachi chicken or the habachi shrimp it's excellent and the chefs are very personable and always friendly. I would advise going with a big group instead of a date it isn't really ideal for a date and well I think it's always better with a large group of friends. However, I have had a bad experience with Kanki. I went to the most recently built one in durham and I got terribly sick from it so I would stay away from the durham kanki. But other then that Kanki is overall and excellent restaurant.

Well I have lived in the triangle for almost 23 years now and Kanki still remains one of my favorites. The food is obviously always fresh (as it is cooked from raw) and it is prepared effortlessly by great Kabuki chefs. Unless you go for lunch, that is when they set the trainees loose. But the food is still good then, it's just all over the table. I love their ginger sauce, it is the best of any Japanese steakhouse I have ever been to. The Sushi is really great. Have a sit down at the sushi bar and try something different. It isn't all raw fish! Service is almost always great.

I love sushi, and have eaten at almost all of the sushi restaurants in town, but I keep coming back to Kanki! They have a sometimes overwhelming selection of rolls, but most all of them are delicious, and I like that most are also served in 1/2 portions, so one can try something new without having to buy an entire roll. The sushi chefs are alwys friendly as well. Mmmm..I might just have to eat there tonight!!

Myself and my wife go here for hair cutting. Good well trained staff offers friendly service. Because it is located in a big shopping mall you may have to wait for a while before you get your turn.

I went with friends on a Saturday night, and was extremely disappointed. When I ordered a California roll, the server told me it would take at least 45 minutes to make them. He then told me I should get something from the hibachi menu. I figured since my sushi was only $5 and the hibachi is easily $10, that he was trying to have a bigger bill. When my sushi arrived (20 minutes later), it was a cucumber roll, and he insisted that I ordered that instead of a California roll. He wouldn't take it back, so I ate it and when I asked for green tea ice cream as my dessert, he rudly told me they were out. As I signed my credit card receipt, he stood over me. I have been to other great sushi restaurants here in Raleigh, so I will not be back to this place.

Despite having been there multiple times, I always fill up on sushi. I've seen some surprising negative reviews of their sushi, and I've had just the opposite experience. Probably the best tempura-style maki rolls in town, and their traditional rolls aren't anything to complain about either. The service isn't the greatest unfortunately... but sometimes you make sacrifices for good food.

Pros: Unbeatable sushi, Convenient (mall)

Cons: Semi-expensive, Mediocre service

I have only been to the sushi bar, I have not had the hibachi. The sushi was the best eel sushi I have ever had! The miso was outstanding and the vegetable tempura was excellent! The service was quicker the first time I went, but it was fairly pprompt both times. I hope to try the hibachi food next time I go.

This was a fun date night! All the tables are close together in one big open room...so you can see everyone. And you're seated at a table of 8 along with strangers. It would be a fun place to go with a group of 8! The food was delicious!!! Our chef was very entertaining & very impressive!!! There were several kids at the restaurant - I was surprised - but they must really enjoy the "show." Waitress service wasn't the best, but it was ok. Definitely not an intimate setting, but it made for a fun evening! :) Actually, the 2 of us sat at the end of our table...and there's enough noise in there that our "neighbors" couldn't really hear our conversation anyway. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table on a Thursday evening.

Pros: Fun, Delicious, Unusual experience

Cons: noisy, sit with strangers

Never eaten here at dinner, too expensive for me. Lunch is a great deal with a decent show too. Traditional japanese styling and dress adorn the restaurant with rooms for more private dining or groups.

Kanki is fun for large groups, but if you want to have a more intimate evening there is no privacy since you are seated at a table with 6 to 8 strangers. Plus, you don't get to choose who you sit with, there is always the chance of sitting at a table with some loud dumb-ass. Fun for a first date, and if the surrounding people keep to themselves or aren't too annoying it can be great.

I think that the food served at the tables is very good and extremely filling. The sushi bar has pretty good sushi, but not excellent. I have been to much better sushi places than this before. I think if you are looking for good japanese food--go here, but for sushi--try somewhere else. Also, the sushi and hibachi chefs are great--nice, entertaining and funny. But the waitresses are HORRIBLE. If you want good service--or even just another glass of water--DO NOT go here!

Myself and my husband, our friends and our family frequently venture a trip to Kanki the atmosphere is great, the view and decor are attractive and interesting. The sushi bar by far is the best. The chefs are funny and interactive putting a show almost as good as the dinner tables.

Almost edible. "Daijoobu" if you get my drift. go there for steak-house theatrics if you'd like. Too often the fish is not at all fresh.

Kanki has the best quality sushi in Raleigh/Cary by far. The fish is always fresh and the preperation is quality also. For instance - most sushi places in this area put sesame seeds on the outside of their rolls - yuck. Kanki puts rowe on the outside. The fish never tastes stale or waxy like at some places. The sushi staff is very friendly - and Japanese - and takes the time to talk to you and help you with your choices. Kanki is the best choice if you are looking for quality food (eat in or take-out). If you're looking for a quiet, trendy type of place and food quality is secondary, you might want to try another place.

I ordered the sashimi platter, and i thought that the fish was old and of poor quality-- i couldn't even eat it. it even smelled fishy-- a real sushi restruant would be embarrased to serve such filth. do yourself a favor, and go elsewhere.

The sushi at Kanki is ot only the best we have had in the Triangle since movinghere one year ago (and we have tried every place in town) but the chefs actually take the time to talk with you, see what you like, even make you special dishes without asking- what a surprise. Oh, and no charge either. Many of the other places in town are rather snobby when it comes to talking with the people sitting at the sushi bar- not at Kanki. There is never a question of WHERE to go but how often!

Wow... I can't believe anyone would consider this a decent restaurant. But I guess if you want a night out and a form of dining combined with entertainment that will keep your ADHD diagnosed children quite even when they miss their daily dose of Aderol then this may be the restaurant for you.
The food is poor, the clientele is suspect and the performance is adequate.

A far cry from being one of the city's best. Give me a drive thru order before going here again. I tried all locations and neither of them have left me with the thought of returning. Slow service, below average food quality and the Sushi was nothing to rave about. Go see Sing at Kabuki's, he knows Sushi and service...

kanki is a joke, service is great and so is the atmosphere, but the most important part is lacking, the food. The hibachi is nothing to be impressed about and the sushi is just so so. I would rather go and eat at a place like Tokyo House and not get the show of the hibachi or even will sacrifise the food.

There is only one word I can think of when I think of Kanki. HOW. How do they stay in business when the food is so expensive and taste so bad. The sushi is far from fresh, and the seafood they serve on the grill is of cheap quality. SO why is it so expensive?? It's not the chefs fault, but the quality of the food they serve is horrible. But I have to give them credit it is nice inside, but apperance can in no way make up for the food...

The Kanki has always been very good ! we enjoy the atmosphere. the newly remodeled sushi bar and dining area is very nice (we always get sushi too..never go into the cooking area). the sushi has always been fresh and portions are very adequate. note if you order sashime, you get a lot but pay an extra $3.95 i believe. I find their crunchy roll to be one of their best rolls. And it is fun to go because you are in the mall already! enjoy

Since moving to Raleigh about 7 years ago, I've been a regular at Kanki. Until recently. While the decor has improved, the last two meals there have been disappointing. Both times, the luck of the draw assigned us to inexperienced chefs -- and the food had a bland, everything-tastes-the-same quality. I can only hope our next experience (after 7 years, I don't give up easily -- even at their slightly inflated prices) is more positive. If it is, you can bet I'll jump on the chance to give 'em a pat on the (welcome) back.

The folks here are great; I've eaten here many times, but on my most recent occasion the lady manager went the extra mile to make the guests at our table happy. They were having trouble communicating with the chef about their meal. The manager stayed at the table until they were satisfied and we were all able to enjoy our dinner! I'll be back!

Congrats Kanki! Good Job.

This is a chop-it-up-toss-the-shrimp-in-the-hat kind of Japanese restaurant. Unfortunately, the last three time we have eaten there, the chefs seemed as if they really wanted to be somewhere else. Not the quality of "show" that justifies the price for what would otherwise be a marginal-quality meal.

And DEFINITELY not one of the top ten restaurants in the Triangle. Try "Fins" if you want an outstanding meal!

Pros: Inexpensive, Employee well trained, Very Friendly

Cons: Parking

The Raleigh area Kanki restaurants do not do take-out on anything except sushi. Don't be disappointed like I was. If you want take-out go elsewhere.

Kanki does the hibachi grilling to perfections - but their sushi is awful.
The rolls have a weird flavor (sort of like soap) and the rice is so thick and overdone that was all I could taste - NOT the delicate taste of the fish.
I do NOT recommend Kanki for sushi - stick to their grilled / tappan (sp?) entrees instead

I am reviewing the Kanki on Mt. Moriah in Durham. My first impression proved to be right on: the place was beautifully decorated, and it had a romantic feel to it. We sat at a table in the sushi bar which was also nice. I have been a sushi lover for years and must admit to still being a little leery of nigiri sushi or sashimi: never again. We ordered a few maki and 2 different nigiri: it was the freshest sushi Ive ever had including restaurants from San Francisco to San Diego. I cant speak for the grilled food, and never will given my enjoyment of their sushi. Ive read a few not so great reviews for Kanki, and was glad that I didnt let them influence my choice to render my own opinion by eating there. My wife and I cannot wait until our next meal there!

I like this place to take a group of friends. The service is great and the chefs are funny.

The Kanki is a terrific place to celebrate a birthday or graduation. Though you usually have to wait a long time for a table (sometimes over an hour) the service and food make up for it. All of the Hibachi dishes are great. It is also very pricey (minimum costs = $9.00).

This past week I have had lunch at Kanki 2 times in the past month now! It is a great spot to grab a bite to eat. The first time we sat and had the hibachi and the second the sushi bar. Both were wonderful and the prices at lunch are a steal. You get the same sixed portions! I would recmmened this for a casual lunch or a business lunch anytime!
