Bassett Furniture Direct in Raleigh does not even rate 1 star. Their customer service is so bad that they won't even answer the phones or return messages left. The store was recently "bought out" by their corp company, who are now left in the lurch to try and fulfill orders that haven't even begun to be manufactured. This is for an order that was PAID IN FULL when ordered on 9/7/10. The local store manager had given false delivery promises, and will not respond as to why. SHOP SOMEWHERE ELSE where your business will be appreciated!

Their furniture is great but their customer service stinks!! Especially at the Farmingdale store. I think the name of the Manager at that store is Penelope...she is horrible. My son's fiance' bought furniture from them and is still waiting for delivery and call the store several times and asked to speak to the Manager. She is never around or if she is she is busy...or pretending to be. I overheard one of the salespersons saying what a terrible Manager she is so I guess I am not the only one who thinks that she is awful. I've heard alot of this manager so that is why I decided that the people that are above her should know that she is doing a terrible job.

I purchased a sofa and loveseat from the Raleigh, NC store in April 2010. I special ordered the furniture so that I could select a different fabric than the one offered on the floor. The sales consultant said I should have the furniture in 30 days. I finally received the furniture in mid July. I really dislike how the sofa looks. Customer service said that I should learn to love it because they would not accept a return for a credit, or offer any kind of deal on different fabric. I've never experienced such poor customer service in all of my years buying furniture. I strongly recommend you go to a different furniture store....

The design consultant at the Fredericksburg Bassett was outstanding. Not only did she know the furniture inside and out, she was such a pleasure to be in the company of! She made our experience delightful! We now have the most beautiful dining room and family room. The furniture is of the highest of quality and we can rest assured that it will stay that way with the additonal protection we purchased. Also, the delivery frame was right on the money and I couldn't be happier. I can't wait to do another room with Bassett!

Purchased a credenza on 3/28/10. Told it would be 30 days before delivery. 4/1/10 called to cancel the furnture order and was told no cancellation are allowed on special orders. This piece of furniture was on the floor. Spoke to Customer Service and Store Manager. This will be dispruted. Other furniture stores I talked to will accept a cancellation before delivery. Have other people had this problem and how was it resolved.

We purchased a sectional and a coffee table on Oct 11, 2009; at Bassett Furniture in Friendwood, Tx. The person at the showroom told us that most of the furniture delivers in 30 days. When we were ready to pay, she told us that the sectional would be available on Dec 9, 2009, we were not very happy with that, but we accepted that estimated time of delivery. At the beginning of December, we called customer service and the salesperson, and they told us that it would be delivered at the end of Dec. Love my furniture. I was able to build my sofa from the ground up. I was able to work with a designer during the purchasing process and it made my decisions very easy. Delivery was right on time. Very pleasant experience.

Purchased the West End Bedroom Collection in Nov. 2008 and was told a 4-6 week delivery. 10 weeks later I am trying to tract down where our furniture is and am getting little help from the delivery department and well customer service is impossible to reach and if you leave a message they don't call you back. So week 11 we are told the furniture is in but they can't fill the entire order. There is only one nightstand and b/c the furniture is on clearance the manufacturer is not making anymore. We were never told this would be a possibility. After being harassed by every sales person on Glenwwood Av. I was very pleased by the professional laid back approach of the sales people at this store. My sales person new the product inside and out. He spent 3 hours with me picking out a living room and dining room set that were completely custom built. He was very realistic about the delivery time, and when my furniture came in earlier than quoted I was ecstatic. I did pay more for this furniture than I planed to spend but I'm glad I did. I can tell this furniture is made to last and I'm sure it will. I would highly recommend that this store be your first and only stop.

One star is too much for this business. I have had one good experience with this company and it was the day I purchased my living room suite. You will pay TOP dollar for, at most, average furniture and POOR customer service.

My sofa, love seat, and chair cushions have split 5 FIVE times in 2.5 years. I am a single man. Could you imagine a family having this poor furniture. The gentleman (contractor) told me the first 3 times the cushions were replaced that Bassett would not pay to have the cushions fixed correctly, so I'm on the FIFTH fix.

Customer Service and Credit ( for interest free) is horrible. I called for my payoff, which was $54 dollars, 2 month before "free"period" was over. The payoff was actually $59. 6 months of arguing and $220 of late fees and bad credit marks later, i finally paid off this horrible company. I should have reported to better business bureau!!!!

I have never written a negative review before, but I needed to warn people to stay away from this store!!! I purchased furniture, and after being charged in full and told to expect my furniture in 3-4 weeks, I had to track down customer service after 8 weeks, only to find out that they could not get the items! They then offered me store credit instead of a refund! I had to insist on a refund, as their customer service told me there was no way to know that they couldnt get the furniture - so it wasnt their fault! Stay away from this store!

We bought a couch in Bassett about 5 years ago, the fabric came undone. After 4 months of fighting, endless lies from the "Customer Service Manager" and 3 repairs they replaced the couch. We never should have gone back, but we did. I bought new bedroom furniture in Jan. It arrived 6 weeks later dirty and damaged. We called our salesperson, he assured us it would be taken care of, just accept delivery. HUGE MISTAKE!! The repair tech informed us that they would not replace the furniture even if it was in pieces, they repair everything. They wanted to come into my brand new home with equipment and repair my very expensive furniture. I called Peter Davis and told him I wanted new furniture and he said they would repair it only. I told him if they were going to repair it, they needed to discount they price. Not 1st quality=discount. He informed me he wouldn't do anything else. Mr Davis was rude, and is a poor excuse for a customer service manager. Buyer beware, don't end up with expensive furniture damaged or full of wood filler.

I thought it was only the Bassett In Louisville KY. This store is horrible as well. I have a horribly made 3k piece of garbage couch. I called a week after I had it and they dont care. My couch has horrible wrinkles in the fabric and it started from week one. I called to tell them about it and they dont care, The customer service people are horrible and the store manager says he has nothing to do with this issue?! My couch has horrible wrinkles in the fabric and it started from week one. I cannot emphasize this enough: AVOID this furniture store!!!!!! To begin with, the salespeople are greedy and pushy. In addition, they have no idea of specials that are going on. I was in there with my husband and saw a sign that said, "no interest for 36 months." However, when I brought this up, our salesperson said there was no such offer. When we showed her the sign, she had to speak to someone to find out if it was true. It was, but then things went downhill. This store plays awful pricing games--buy now because the sale ends tomorrow, the prices are going up in 2 weeks, etc. We heard it all. Then they offered us a deeply discounted price to get us to sign the paperwork, but then re-nigged at the last minute. Needless to say, we cancelled the order. I've also heard horror stories that the company takes WAY TOO long to get your furniture (up to several months after the order is placed) and that the pieces arrive defective but they will not replace them, only repair them (which depreciates the value of the pieces). I cannot emphasize this enough: AVOID this store!!!!!!!!!!

I paid over $7,000 using their "6 months same as cash" policy and I still have to pay even though I don't have all the furniture. Plus, I have not even been able to get my delivery charge of $90.00 refunded yet. It has officially been 11 weeks, after being told 4 weeks, and I still keep being told that it will be one or two more weeks for the rest of the furniture. Do they have to personally go out and saw down the trees to make this stuff or what.? I have to admit that the customer service has improved a little bit, but the delivery stinks and the people working at the delivery warehouse are very rude...they act as if you are putting them out because you are picking up the furniture. Hello, I pay your salary by buying your stuff that never comes in on time. I purchased a floor model leather sectional marked "as is" Not a problem with me as it appeard to be in good working order. One end of the couch had a recliner that was tied shut on the show room floor. We asked the sales person (who did not even know that it was a recliner) why it was tied up. She informed us that it was tied shut due to being on the show room floor. We were fine with that and also purchased an area rug. Delivery was set up , I never received a phone call the night before for the delivery time. I called to find out that computer systems were down and my delivery was not on their list for the next day. After many phone calls to stores and managers I did receive a call in the morning that I would be on the delivery route. My couch arrived on time as promised and the delivery men were very kind and wonderful. That is the only good expierence out of my purchase. Once the couch was in and set up, the delivery guys cut off the ropes to the recliner and watched it flop out. To our surprise it was completly broken!! The delivery guys did try to fix and informed us they would set up for service to come out and fix. To make a long story short, they refused to fix it stating that we bought the couch marked "as is" and we would need to pay $500 to have it fixed. Then proceeded to call us liars and that we are trying to pull a scam on them to get it fixed. The sales lady, when we confronted her stated that if she knew the recliner was important to us she would have looked into it more. Then proceeded to tell her mananger that she did inform us that it was broke. When we opted to return all products (we still havn't received the rug), all returns were refused. After waiting months for my furniture delivery, it arrived in pieces. The customer service guy, Peter Davis, could have cared less, as was evidenced by his rude demeanor and undermining comments. After mentioning this problem to others who have dealt with Bassett, I'm finding out that this place has a horrible reputation with late deliveries, faulty merchandise and nasty customer service. Had my issue been dealt with directly, honestly and with kindness, I may have given them another chance, but Peter Davis basically ruined all of that. I don't see how a place can stay in business with this kind of guy handling their customer service needs. Avoid this place at all costs. I wish I had been given the same warning.
