Ratings_icons Mc Kenzie James S Dds is to be avoided at all costs

Anon y.

Same experience as the others who were told they had gum disease based on margin measurements which were taken very agressively and painfully btw. I thought dentistry was supposed to help you? Dr McKenzie is very judgemental and not interested in his clients unless they have perfect teeth like him. A poor example for dentists everywhere.

Ratings_icons You can do better then use James McKenzie Dds

Michael J.

You can do better then use James McKenzie Dds I went to James McKenzie Dds on 6-24-09 for a routine cleaning, After a meer 5 minute probing his hygienist was alarmed at the depth of some of my gum pockets. She told me there is no way I could keep them clean. I explained to her that I have been using "Roto-Pic's" daily since 1997 when I had my gums deep cleaned and medicated and have no problems with my gums, no bleeding, easy cleaning etc. I further suggested she wait the 6 months till my next cleaning and she would find there would be no change in my gum pockets. At this point she stormed out of the room saying, "I'm getting the dentist." After 10 minutes Dr. McKenzie came in the room and said, 'You're giving my staff a hard time I hear." I again explained my dental history and care to him but it fell on deaf ears it seems as all he did was to looked over the entries the hygienist had made he then and stated, "You have sever gum disease and need to see a periodontist immediately. At no time did he look in my mouth and check my gums and teeth. I got up and politely told him that all I needed was to go back to my old dentist, and walked out of his office. I am 70 years old and have had just 2 extractions and 4 fillings in that time. I have good bone density and firm gums and very healthy teeth. It is all apparent that Dr. McKenzie and staff are more interested in bringing in the money then they are in listening to the patients. A little post script, I had a normal cleaning at my old dentist office 2 days later and there was absolutely no change on my gum pocket depth. Now isn't that strange ? M. J.

I had a great check-up! Dr. McKenzie and his staff were very friendly and caring. I have a fear of dentistry and they made me feel comfortable and at ease through my appointment. I would highly recommend this office to my family and friends.

Ratings_icons Don't make the same mistake that I did

T R.

I went into this dentists office for a simple check up. After x-rays and a quick check of my gums I was told some very troubling news. I was told that I had extreme bone loss and needed to get a bone density test. Also, my they stated that I had periodontal disease as well and that my mouth was not fit to be cleaned. I was referred to a periodontists as well. They would not clean my teeth until I had a process called scaling done by a periodontist. I left there in tears very concerned that my health was failing. Within the next month, I went to have my bone density test done which came back fine. They were shocked and said that I was the first 40 year old sent there due to a denist x-ray. Next I went to a different periodontist (not the one they referred me to) and they stated that I had no signs of periodontist disease (bleeding, swelling, sensitivity, etc.) Now, I was upset and asked the periodontist what to do because they refused to clean my teeth until I had scaling done. He told me that if he did scaling to my teeth that it would only damage my completely healthy gums. This wonderful periodontist is now cleaning my teeth, even though they specialize in people with gum diseases. Please beware when going to this dentist and notice the pamplets everywhere on periodontal disease.
