I have to question the review posted 6/7/09. The store has been closed since May and from what I understand she no longer has a staff or a store. My experience in dealing with Laura Kelly Designs/Funky Monkey was one that was not pleasant. Her store at one time was nice and had helpful girls working but getting Laura to follow through on things she said she was going to do was near impossible. Lots of promises that were not kept and she was never in the store or office when said to be and seemed to have an over exaggerated way of dealing with people that was uncomfortable. I recently read an article about her and her studio that does not exist and seems to be putting out a false representation of her and her company.

She is such a creative gal! All her creations are top notch. I love walking into her store just to browse all the wonderful selections of products available to me and my family!

I have frequented the Funky Monkey store in downtown Apex regularly in the last 3 years. I am not one to write letters of complaint for every little thing, but today I was extremely disappointed in the service there. I observed the same unfriendliness on the three previous stops there, but they have lost my business this time. We walked in and all of the staff was in the back. (No greeting.) Shopped for a while and found several items with no prices on them or on the stand. I was waiting at the register...no clerk ever came out. I had to poke my head in the back and ask for someone to come out. (Perhaps a bell at the register would help?) When the gal asked for the price on an item that was unmarked, she came back with the price of 50 cents. I made my purchase. On the way out the store I decided to purchase another of the same thing and brought it to the register. A different unfriendly gal came out and charged me $1. She huffed and puffed when I told her I just bought the same item at 50 cents. Then someone yells from the back, "We need to make a list of all the things that need prices!" While I was in there, another customer was complaining about graduation invitations that were promised a week prior, but not done. They finished printing them as she stood in the store and waited. No apologies. One young gal imparticular is extremely unfriendly and makes you feel as if you are bothering her day if you ask a question. Cute stuff in there. It would be a great place to shop if the management got its act together.

Stumbled upon the Funky Monkey in Apex and Paper Girls stationary a few years ago by accident and love them!! Have had them do my daughter's 1st birthday party invite and a birth announcement for my 2nd child and I got so many wonderful responses about both. Also bought paper girls invites for my daughter's 2nd birthday party and the sales people were so helpful in finding the right invite for my ideas. They were timely in the printing of my items and run great sales! And they were very patient when I changed the layout for my daughter's birth announcement 6 times before being satisfied. They just kept having me approve proofs to be sure I was happy! Am heading over there again soon for invites for another party for a friend. I highly recommend them!!

I had a disappointing experience with Paper Girls. In early spring 2005 I placed an order for birth announcements which I paid in full at their request. I called back 2 weeks later to confirm the cards were in & they confirmed yes

In July, I went in to have them printed up. They called back 1 day later saying they did not have the cards. They had called the maker of the stationary to ask to have more delivered. They were told they were no longer making that particular stationary.

Couldn't believe it! I paid them in full 4 months prior & they previously told me they had come in. I was extremely annoyed. I spoke with the owner who was extremely rude and did not apologize.

I did finally get a reimbursement , but I have never seen such irresponsibility. Very disappointing. Would not recommend at all.
