My boyfriend and I have travelled to the beaches of North Carolina for years now and have just recently found the restaurant of Bella Cucina. We are surprised that we have not came across the place before. The atmosphere is just as peaceful as we expect. Promptly greeted and seated as we walked in and a server immediately came to order our drinks. We had the servers recommendation on a bottle of nice red blend. The calamari was outstanding, some of the best we had ever had. Their specials of the evening included tuna and a scallop pasta which we ordered. Not to mention the bread and olive oil was to die for! But whatever you do don't fill up on it because the specials were just as amazing! Tuna cooked was a perfect med-rare just as we ordered and the white wine sauce that was used in the scallop pasta was incredible. Overall our experience was superb! Definitely recommend this place to anyone who would enjoy a nice Italian meal with wonderful service!!!

My Husband and I moved to Southport about 6 months ago. We first went to Bella Cucina when visiting and staying in the Hampton Inn,located right next door.\r\nSince we have moved down here, we have been coming once a week. It has Good Italian Food, reasonably priced as all entrees include delicious bread and salads. Every day there is a special fresh seafood and pasta entrees. I can get Pizza NY style or my favorite which is Chicken Parm over linguini with fresh basil! My husband devoures the warm galic bread and bolognese w/sausage and meatballs. We love their wine selection and always end with a specialty coffee drink. \r\n\r\nThe staff is incredibly friendly and service is great. Its is a three generation family owned business and a member is always there to great you and feel welcome.\r\nSince my husband is such a sports fan , he likes to sit at the roomy big bar and watch the games while enjoying a delicious dinner. But there are choices of sitting if coming in with a group because it is a good size restaurant\r\nDefinitely one of the best choices in Southport!\r\n\r\n

If slow service, small portions and forgetful wait staff is your thing, then Bella Cucina is for you. Their menu on the Internet sounded wonderful so we tried them this evening. We were seated by the owner, but 20 minutes later, nobody had greeted us. Finally, a young and pleasant waitress came over acting surprised to see us. She took our drinks order and was back with our drinks in ten minutes, so things were looking up. No bread was brought despite several requests. When the food arrived, the portions were miniscule. None of us is a huge eater, and Italian restaurants are usually known for generously filled plates, but not Bella's. When we commented on the tiny portions, our waitress replied that usually people say that the portions are too large. Incredible but true. None of us is going back.

The food wasn't bad, but the service was incredible slow. Throughout the meal, we could hear dishes breaking in the kitchen. Things were dropped on the floor and not picked up until someone tripped over it. One waiter kept the book that he used to take orders stuck in the back of his pants. It's overpriced considering the atmosphere. I love Italian food, but will never go back.
