A friend of ours suggested Haywood Hall while we were planning our wedding and I am so glad they did! It is such a beautiful place for an outdoor wedding in downtown Raleigh. We also really enjoyed working with Greg! I love his enthusiasm

I just got married at Haywood Hall. The grounds truly are beautiful. Unfortunately, there was a management change between the time we booked the place and the time of our reception. Mrs. Haywood filled in. We discussed at length with Mrs. Haywood on 3 occasions the details of our wedding, including set up, clean up, and whether we would be charged for the time spent dropping things off at the house. (At the time of booking, we had already gone over this information with the previous manager.) Mrs. Haywood said we could even use the place on Friday for our Saturday wedding. (We only used it for Saturday.) Unfortunately, probably secondary to the extremely pleasant exchanges we had with Mrs. Haywood, we didn't get anything in writing. Two days after our wedding Mrs. Haywood sent us a rather nasty letter stating that we owed her more money and that she was keeping the security deposit (a deposit that she previously had said was not even necessary). We spoke over the phone and reminded Mrs. Haywood of our previous conversations. Reluctantly, she agreed to not charge us. Then two weeks later, she deposited our security deposit and requested more money. I'm not sure if it's dementia or poor management, but I would NOT recommend using this facility. A wedding is certainly expensive enough, and when everything is budgeted months in advance, increasing significantly the price of the reception rental days after the wedding leaves a rather bitter taste in one's mouth.

Haywood Hall has played host to a wedding I went to recently and it blew my mind that such an amazing house could go unnoticed in downtown Raleigh. The gardens have plenty of pathways so that the grass stays lush and green. There is a gazebo, where this wedding was held, that made the wedding feel a little more private although there were over 100 people in attendance. There's a great flow through the house with plenty of space for food, socializing and the like. Outback there is a joggling board that has to be experienced for a full understanding.
