A special place where family and friends gather. Carlo treats you like family. Teri had the blue crab ravioli and I had linguini with the clams sauteed with garlic and wine tonight (12/13/12). Garlic knots to die for. Cheese

It's a small place but the food is amazing. The owner is always there and seems to be hands on. The bus boy could be a little more polite. But our waitress was super sweet she was new. We will be back.

Wow what a surprise!

My wife and I rarely link up for lunch but a few weeks back we managed. Everyone was cordial and the food, very authentic and tasteful. We'd spent time living in Europe and Casa San Carlo takes us back.

We'll be back for sure and thanks to 5-star Chef Carlo, have another great meal in a welcoming atmosphere!

My wife and I returned to our Favorite Italian Restaurant. she has been to Rome twice, Venice and brought up around Italian cooking, and if you want to go to Italy without leaving NC , go to Casa San Carlo . She had the salmon for the second time last night. And it was AMAZING. My wife when ordering salmon anywere It will be return it 99% of the time,I normally order steak and her salmon comes out tasting like a pork chop :( She loves salmon , She was on a mission years back to find someone who new how to cook it, Angus barn was ok . But Carlos Salmon is just a art piece , She will order it again and again. WE also had the Classico Vongole Casino I had the Lobster Ravioli and Tiramiso all so so so delicious , DELIZIOSO ,dlicieux, !!!!!!!! We have tried many other things on the menu, always new AMAZING !!! flavors dancing in our mouths. Love it !!!! Love it !!!! And Milissa who completes this experience, who remembers our drinks and how we like them, we never had that kind of service before in the best restaurants around .Carlos and Milissa make us feel like family and special you just dont get that anywhere else, My wife worked for the Airlines and has been around the world and is a tough person to please when it comes to food My wife is just use to first class food from the best places around the world. :) Casa San Carlos in our books is Cultural excellence from Italy right in our own town WOW. Thank you guys for making my wife so happy every single time, till the next time. Ci vediamo molto presto :)

We went here to eat lunch with my husband and twin babies, The food there was way bellow average, I had chicken and it was super dry and had no taste. The service was not the worst but it was not good, they were just 3 tables being use (including ours) and it took them forever to bring our food. This place is at the same level of ruby tuesday and Olive garden... Never going back again.

I visit Casa San Carlo regularly for both lunch and dinner. You won't be disappointed here, the food is terrific. The lunch buffet has a wide selection of choices to try and they are offered 7 days a week. If you prefer something off the menu, you'll enjoy all the traditional classics offered. The Veal / Chicken Parmigiana, Chicken Cacciatore, and Penne alla Vodka are just some of my favorites. Save room for dessert. The Tiramisu is the best I've had anywhere!! Carlo is a great chef and wonderful host. He visits every customer at their table and makes you feel right at home.

I went for lunch and was pleasantly surprised! The lunch buffet is so reasonably priced and the selection is terrific! From the fresh salad to the hot buffet ! Many dishes to choose from so I has small portions of several different items. I can't decide what I liked best. Bowties, meatballs, sausage & peppers, tortellini, lasagna & fresh baked garlic knots ... all were delicious. The atmosphere is warm & friendly. I Can't say enough about it & I can't wait to go back for dinner. If lunch is this good, dinner is going to be great!

I went here last night with my girlfriend...OMG!!! 5 stars isn't enough, beautifully decorated and the food FABULOUS! The bread was freshley baked, I had Pollo Francese (chicken with lemon butter and wine sauce) so good I wanted to pick up my plate and drink the sauce!!!! topped it off with homemade Tiramisu (wanted to kiss the plate!) Can't wait until I get back. If you are eating Italian anywhere else in the Triangle you are just wasting your time.

We enjoyed dinner at Casa San Carlo last evening. FANTASTIC! As long time customers of his previous establishment, we had wondered where this craftsman had gone. We were thrilled to find Carlo at his new venue, bearing his name, Casa San Carlo.

The Veal San Carlo was outstanding, fresh and incredibly tender. The seafood was delicious, very fresh large shrimp and scallops. The sauces were rich and the flavors were multidimensional. Fresh herbs and vegetables complimented both veal and pasta dishes. And, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the array of fresh breads that arrived at our table upon seating. Several different types with delicious toppings and fillings.

The treat begins upon entering Casa San Carlo, the soft lighting, rich aromas, crisp white table cloths and the background vocals of Andrea Bocelli all created an ambiance that welcomed us and surrounded our senses. Add to that the soft glow of the holiday lighting and decorations and it is a warm atmosphere, sure to please!

The new location provides plenty of parking, in a well lit lot. Surprisingly, the prices were lower than they were in the old restaurant! Carlo is delivering hot, fresh, delicious food in a warm and inviting atmosphere. This experience could not have been better!

Thank you, Carlo, we had wondered where you were, and now we know...We will eagerly return to Casa San Carlo!

I visited Casa Linga which was owned by Carlo and His wife. I have been in several times at Lunch, and his food vendors were inside. This guy is the cheapest scrooge around. He was argueing about price to the vendors, all of us heard him. He buys ""cheap crappy"" food and says he can make it good. He told a couple across the table that he is a five star chef and he can make anything taste good. But why would you want to give your paying customers crap food? He's a joke. I tried Casa San Carlo a week ago, and its the same ole ""crappy"" food at upscale prices. Not anymore! Bye Carlo.

I made the sad mistake of eating at Casalinga last week after I moved back to the Triangle and I couldn't figure out what made my favorite dish taste so horrible. Then I was shopping at Harris Teeter and saw Carlo's face and new exactly what was missing, CARLO!!!!

I left my groceries in the car and had to go right in to eat!!! Once again Carlo made me the best Italian food I have ever ate. It feels good to be Home Sweet Home and having a 5 star Chef right around the corner!

This Italian Restaurant is under new management with an Italian Master Chef. If you are looking for traditional Italian cuisine, look no further. everything from the bread, to the dressings, noodles, and deserts, are homemade. My wife and I went there for dinner last night to check out the changes. It was amazing! You start off with the bread that is like nothing else. I also had the fabulous house dressing on my salad. The main meals each had their own unique, traditional Italian flavors. I followed it up with a traditional European cheese cake. The texture and aroma of the dishes were perfect. I can

This place has a great buffet for lunch. I was full after the hot pasta bar and didn't make it to the pizza or salad bar. That will have to wait for the next visit. Tthe new owner came out to introduce himself, seems like a good guy and I know he is a great chef.

Visited with my friend, Master Chef Carlo Cappiello at his new ""Digs"", Casa San Carlo for lunch today. As usual, the lunch buffet was loaded with great salad, pizza by the slice and the best Italian dishes to be found in Raleigh or the Triangle for that matter. Master Chef Carlo, formally of Casalinga in Mini City is certain to make this new location a huge hit. Dinner is the best Italian treat anywhere outside of Italy...My favorite is the Sea Bass...but everything Carlo prepares is FIRST RATE...He gets 6 stars our of 5 from me...Papa Jack

First time last night, despite some mixed reviews we took a chance. After waiting what seemed to be a very long time for water and bottled beer, we were served an excellent meal. We had the eggplant parmesan which came with angel hair pasta and appetizing vegetables on the side, and a delicious dish of shrimp, scallops, calamari, mussels and more. It was served in a light red sauce with pasta. Rolls with a tomato dipping sauce (very tasty) accompanied the meal. The restaurant was dark and small, with a pleasant decor and a small bar off to one side. It was not too noisy, which is often a problem in many places we eat. By 7:30, people were waiting to get in! As it is in a strip shopping center, just south of Durant on Falls of the Neuse, it is not impressive on the outside and the large ""pizza"" sign makes you think it is a pizza parlor, which it is not.. They also advertise beer, but many wines are available. Only reason for four stars was the long initial wait.

We had a meal today and the service was so bad with only one waitress on staff. The meals arrived and were cold, we asked for them to heated up and they reluctantly reheated them. The meal eventually came out without silver wear and we asked for knives and folks.

The owner stormed out and almost threw them at us. We also waited and waited for coffee to be told they have none.

Very bad and very uncomfortable situation and we will never return.

I thought this was going to be a nice evening out with my husband. I was told from a friend that this restaurant had good food but my husband and I beg to differ. We both had ordered the linguine with frutti di mare, basically pasta with seafood, and it was terrible. We both thought the seafood tasted a little old and past it's freshness peak when we tasted it but decided to finish since it cost us more than we thought it was worth. Huge mistake. We both ended up sick for 2 days. I will never go back and urge anyone who goes to stay away from the seafood. : - (

I really like this small little bistro. The food is always decent. Disagree with reviews where people said that the food was salty. I never noticed that during the times that I have eaten there. The menu is full of some pretty authentic Italian dishes, and everytime I've been I've tried something new. They have the best pizza in North Raleigh, hands down - try their Siclian pizza. It's got plenty of servings and is inexpensive too! Service can be slow when they are busy, but they are attentive with the drinks. The only other drawback is that if you get a lot of loud people at the bar, they kind of ""take over"" the whole restaurant.

Always a great meal with a relaxing and inviting atmosphere, tied with great service. San Carlo has been around for some time in north Raleigh and I'll admit to being a long time customer, as such I can't think of time when I've had anything less than good food and service. While with any restaurant there is turnover and necessary training time for new staff, I've always had attentive waiters/waitresses. Even when the person was new or only with a little experience. For the variety of specials and menu selections I have not had one that has been a problem, whether for dinner, lunch, or just a quick appetizer. In fact there are a few that I tend to order on a regular basis, including the Bianca (white) pizza, and the salmon dishes. The friends and famly I have brought to the restaurant have had the same experiences and passed along their compliments: great food, great service, great atmopshere, great restauant.

Me and my husband went to lunch here and we left very disapointed. Our food took 30 minutes to come out (only 2 other tables in the restaurant) and when it came out it was wrong twice and tried to charge us for it. The staff was not attentive at all to drinks as well as very slow with any small request. I will never go back here again

My friend and I have eaten lunch at San Carlo?s three times. Today was our third visit and we brought another friend along. On our initial visit, we were very impressed with this cozy bistro style restaurant. Usually I prefer to order ?simple? meals when trying out a new restaurant, so I ordered a Stromboli and I think she had a pasta dish with a side of steamed veggies. The food was excellent and our server was perfect! We love the foccacia bread. \r
\r
Our second visit was the complete opposite, like we had been jinxed with bad luck! I can honestly say that if we had experienced this the first time we went, I am certain we would not have gone back! Our food was barely tolerable! We ordered one of the daily specials and I feel like I could have made a better pasta dish at home. The foccacia bread was the only thing we had to look forward to. Our server was quite rude ? we thought maybe she was having a bad day, but she seemed like she was giving other customers better service. The best thing was when we were on our way out ? we could see the server we had last time on the other side and she recognized us! She was glad to see us back again and asked how we were doing. So we thought we wouldn?t write San Carlo off completely.\r
\r
Today we had another great experience. I ordered a chicken parmigiana sub, but the three of us got completely different meals and each of them were delicious! Our server was the woman who had been the bartender on our last two visits and she was very helpful and attentive to us and the other customers on our side.\r
\r
So, with a record of 2 out of 3 for good food and service, we will definitely be going back for lunch meals. It?s definitely worth it for the great prices they have at lunch as well! I?d also like to take my husband to try their dinner offerings at some point. On our next visit I think I will make a request for one of the servers we liked on our previous visits...

Pros: Ambience, Value, Location, Casual but Classy, Service, Great food

Cons: Unpredictable service and quality of food

Assagio's is still at the top of my list for Italian in this 'style' (home cooking, not pretentious). San Carlo's food was quite salty, though, from the complementary foccacia to my Ziti to the Calzone. It's a shame because underneath all that salt was some good cooking- the calzone crust was very crisp and flavorful, and the vegetables and pasta were all al dente.\r
The service, beyond drink refills, was lacking, although the staff was knowledgeable. I probably won't go again but if someone said they love the place I would know what they are talking about- there is something in there to love, under all that salt and inattentive service.

Now I remember why I haven't been here in a while. We were seated for 10 minutes before anyone greeted us at our table. The Servers were up at the bar area talking to each other. Then one of the managers/owners finally recognized us and came out to get our drink order. Then one of ask if we could substitute fries for the chips that came with the sandwich. He said they didn't have fries...They are on the MENU!!! They served no butter with the bread and the bread was burnt. I could of made a better sandwich at home. There are plenty of Italian food places in Raleigh to never have to think twice about going back to San Carlos, ones that have good food and know a little about customer service.

This restaurant is a wonderful neighborhood home-like small bistro. I absolutely LOVE the pizza and their pasta dishes are unbelievably good. Atmosphere, kindness of waitstaff, all was a very positive experience. These people recognize you when you are a repeat customer, and treat you like family. Prices are very moderate, and I have made it a favorite.

Best authentic Italian in the triangle...hands down. The food is sinfully good with rich sauces and fresh pastas, the service is impeccable, and the ambiance is nice. It's a fairly small restaurant, with a nice little bar area - I have found it to be romantic even though I usually don't feel that way in such open spaces. Low lighting tends to help with the atmosphere. As for the food - I can't say enough about it. I highly recommend this place as a little-known charm up in N. Raleigh.

My wife ventured to San Carlos with a friend of hers a week ago on a whim. She was so thrilled that we went together 3 days later. We were greeted by Denis, the manager, who remembered my wife after only one visit. My wife was right, the food was amazing. The ambience was perfect for a couple or small group of friends. I've been to many Italian Bistros in Raleigh, but San Carlos reigns supreme.

I was very pleased to find an Italian restaurant was opening soooo close to me, then I went to San Carlos. There were only 4 other people in the restaurant when we arrived, but it took over 20 minutes to bring us our appetizers and almost an hour for the main dish. It also VERY apparent that the space was not designed to be a restaurant. They did what they could, but it still looks like a strip mall store with a bar. Not very cozy or romantic.

As an Italian from the NY, I was hard pressed to find good, authentic Italian dishes. Imagine my delight when I discovered San Carlo!
Not only does the atmosphere remind me of a cozy bistro but the food is absolutely incredible!
The servers are very helpful and the nightly specials are a treat not to be missed.
Also, the homemade limencello is the perfect ending to this culinary adventure.
I would recommend San Carlo without any hesitation to family and friends alike.

Tonite I visited San Carlo for the first time and wished I found out about it earlier. My neighbor sent me there. I ordered the calamari and it has to be the best in town. I then had the salmon special and it was delicious. I was informed by the waitress that the chef's specials change nightly and are usually first rate. I will return!!

In Short
Inside, wrought iron grapevines and fun, over-the-top Italianate mirrors compete for attention. A well-trained staff maintains the sultry ambience, with each server dressed in black button shirts, neckties and low-slung…
