My boyfriend and I were looking for an intimate Italian spot in downtown Charlotte and this looked to be the place. Looks can be deceiving...
The food:
The food was mediocre, not worth the price; very small portions-- my boyfriend and I are very small people, yet we were still hungry after eating our entrees.
The waiter:
First of all, I'd like to say that I have a great patience for waiters on a Saturday evening, as I understand that this is one of their busiest nights. Nonetheless, this does not excuse rudeness. Our waiter (Carlos) was probably the rudest waiter I've ever encountered. From the very beginning, he acted as if it was a burden to wait on us. We ordered the calamari and we were not satisfied with it, so we told the waiter that we didn't like it. He got a very annoyed look on his face and retorted "why don't you like it?!". We proceeded to argue with him about why we did not like the calamari for several minutes. He then walked away from the table in an uproar, leaving the plate of calamari at our table without even apologizing. We decided to wait until the end of the meal to see if he would at least take the calamari off the check, and he of course did not. We then asked him to take it off the check, and he said, "why? what was the matter with the calamari? It's calamari!" and we went through the whole conversation again about why we did not like the calamari. After a few minutes of arguing about the calamari, the waiter reluctantly took it off of our check.

Another issue we encountered with this waiter was that he did not check on us ONCE after the whole initial conversation about the calamari. It's as if he got mad at us for not liking it, and refused to wait on us for the remainder of the meal. Nonetheless our romantic evening was a disaster thanks to Mr Carlos and his attitude problem.
Small portions of mediocre food is tolerable; a waiter with a MAJOR attitude problem is inexcusable.

YUM YUM...the people are so nice, great service, treat you like family, food is excellent, like i'm in Italy, atmosphere is perfect, restaurant is so popular so the small space gets crowded and packed easily during lunch hour, must get the bean dip

Love this place, one of my favorites in Uptown Charlotte. You can tell everything is freshly made, and the ambiance is wonderful... great people watching in Center City. I have been to the sister restaurant in Birkdale, and have to agree that it can't hold up to this one.

I've tried most of the menu here, but if you like pasta, theirs is to die for.

Pros: Great food, would be a great date spot

Cons: parking, because there is none

Nice atmosphere and the quality of food is pretty decent. However, the quantity of food is similar here to the other locations (il posto osteria and positano osteria). Itailan food isn't typically expensive to make and this place will definitely "profit" from your business. My wife and I recently dined with this restaurant and the owner's new location (positano in Birkdale) and upon completion of our $100 dollar meal, we were still hungry and found ourselves preparing something later that evening at home. Service is good and friendly though.
