I have read the comments over and over again and I can understand some of the concerns. When I first started going to Studio 10 I felt like it was just entirely too much going on. But once I observed the stylists doing their work...I realized that there were different levels of expertise. The best stylists are usually in the room in the back and they go by appointments. My stylist is Debbie! She works WONDERS! I wish i could upload before and after pictures for you guys. Davien and Delphine also do great work. Many of these stylists go by appointment so you have to call and give a time that you are coming which keeps you from that long waiting line and things of that nature. Also you have to pay an additional $3 when you request a person to do your hair. And I usually get a deep conditioner and a comb out. So for me thats a price of $23 but i think that beats any price and i come out looking like i just left an amazing shop. Its a great place if you are willing to up the price a little but its still CHEAP!! amazing....

Studio 10 is good if you just want something simple like a deep conditioner, wrap or roller set. Would not recommend any chemical treatments or cuts b/c a lot of the stylist are amateurs and dont know what they are doing. There are, however some good stylists here but again there alot that either dont have the talent or the experience. I took my 4 year old daughter here for a simple wash and I asked for "big braids" b/c of the time. The stylist kept asking can she do this and that trying to be creative, which was annoying because I made it clear that I wanted something simple. She was tough on her she would not stop crying, so I had to leave the shop with her hair half done. I told the receptionist at the front I would pay (prices are cheap) just to avoid a conflict b/c I noticed the girl had a bad attitude.

9 out of 10 of the stylists have no clue about customer service. They do not introduce themself or make any conversation.
There are people I know who go here and like it but its just not for me. The only time I go is when decent beautician is unavailable.

I have been going to Studio 10 for nearly the entire time they have been open (roughly 5-yrs I think) and while all the reviews add something to the mix, I wanna give a well rounded perspective. Studio 10 (in general) works on the concept of "you get what you pay for". Meaning it is less expensive and therefore you have to be a well informed hair client in order to get good service and if you are broke then you can save a ton by learning to work the Studio 10 system to your benefit.

Personally I have some Studio 10 war stories (bad chemicals, cuts, service, lengths of time), but also some triumphs to report. 1st, don't try to go at peak times (Saturdays, around holidays, 1st of the month); 2nd, don't expect luxury accommodations or stylists with genius IQ levels (when in Rome do as the Romans), 3rd, ask questions if you don't know (the clients around you are likely regulars who can hip you to who to ask for, and what to do, and not to do), 4th if you do find a good person that you like (like one reviewer that mentions Davien) then stick with them for all detailed services (my girl is Debbie Phillips--can work some relaxer like pure magic, though she has a very colorful personality)!

If you use common sense and "know before you go", or just ask good questions you can get into the routine and once you do (and yes they change things around all the time) you can indeed get quality, affordable service from Studio 10. You need to understand yourself and your hair well, be observant, and not be afraid to communicate. This is what your cost is, instead of the high price of $65-$75 for a relaxer, and for me it is totally worth it, since you also don't usually have as much of a wait to schedule an appointment as you do in a high priced salon either!

Overall, you get what you give, and you can get a lot at Studio 10 IF you do your part. Good Luck!

i went to studio 10 a few times, but i cannot say it is the best place to get your hair done if you don't have a lot of time on your hands. In addition, I got my hair colored there once before, and at the time, they didn't even have the color i wanted and somebody had to go down the street to the beauty supply store and buy it, and not only that, it didn't even look like color was in my hair after it was put in. So i went back again a few months later, thinking that they had stepped their game up on the color, and i got light brown (which was supposed to be like a golden color) and that didn't take. I came out of there looking the same, and my hair looked black. However, in between time, i did want to go and get my split ends cut.....WRONG IDEA ONCE AGAIN....i asked somebody to cut my ends, and I ended up getting my hair cut in layers, with the top-middle, being super short (almost the length of my bangs). I will never get my hair cut there again nor will i ask for color, because as far as i know, they're horrible in both!!!!!! So I advise anyone that needs SERIOUS work done to their hair by professionals, to go elsewhere, because Studio 10 is only good for the basics--washing and rolling.

I have been to this salon (now known as Studio Plus) to get my hair washed and styled (or rolled) only. It is a bargain for that. I don't like the fact that have ALWAYS they put me under the dryer for 45 - 60 minutes and I don't need to be under the dryer for that long. One time I went and my stylist told me about other stylists not knowing what they are doing, especially when it comes to coloring... not good. I would never go there for a relaxer, deep conditioning treatment, or coloring. Good for emergencies only (not related to chemical treatments that is)!

If you don't want to spend an arm and leg for a perm, wrap or wash and curl then Studio 10 is the place to go to get your hair done. Not only is the price very affordable, you aren't going to wait 4hrs to get your hair done. It's not for everyone, but for those who don't mind the assembly line approach for a getting your hair done this might be the place to try!

Pros: time

I wanted a simple twist set-usually takes me 2 hours to myself. It took them 8 hours. After the stylist began working I found out that they do not have a lot of natural clients. I do not plan to ever go back.

This is truly a different experience in hair care that takes a little getting used to. The shop has had several renovations to improve efficiency but can still be a little confusing to a newcomer. Customers go from one line to another almost musical chairs style. There are no guarantees for getting the shampoo tech or stylist you want unless you pay an additional fee. Shampoo and conditioners are "rationed." But for $10 for a shampoo and set, what do you expect?

I started going to Studio 10 on Avondale and stopped when they first open. I went back once again and Davien did my hair and arched my eyebrows, I got so many reviews. I have since started going to the one on Fayetteville Street, where it's worth paying $3.00 extra for Davien to continue taking care of my hair. I love it up here and the ladies & gentlemen are very professional.

Give it a try & ask for Davien!

The staff was rude and unprofessional. They were talking about other clients in front of me as if I weren't there. Not to mention that when I explained how I wanted my hair styled I was laughed at and sent to someone else chair
