Dr. Andrews was born in upstate New York and relocated to eastern North Carolina when he was five years old. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree (DDS) in 1991 from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where he also earned an undergraduate degree as a chemistry major. After he graduated from dental school, Dr. Andrews was an associate for a year before establishing his own practice in Cary in 1992. Since then, he has spent over a 1000 hours enhancing his skills by learning from the world?s finest aesthetic, restorative, and reconstructive dentists, including Dr. Gerald Ciche, Dr. Pete Dawson, Dr. David Garber, and Dr. Frank Spear. Throughout his career, he has gained the respect of his peers and is sought out by other dental professionals for their aesthetic and restorative needs.
Expensive
by Abraham W.
Very expensive and did not tell me up front how much the cost was going to be. I was shocked at the cost out of pocket. Also, I did not appreciate the fact that his office doubles as a day care center for his kids who were housed in a room opposite where I was being treated and who were tended to by Dr. Andrews when they became noisy.
Have found another local dentist who is just as good and only charges my co pay.

Great Dentist....very expensive
by Anonymous
Dr. Andrews DOES do fantastic work...but he CERTAINLY charges for it. I'd definitely put the price of his work in the "if you have to ask...you can't afford it" range. Crowns are just over $2000 per each and fillings are about $300 per each. If price is no object, go here bar none. Otherwise...

Good work but feel taken advantage of
by Julie J.
I felt Dr. Andrews took advantage of me. I went in for routine work and he suggested i needed one filling. Then, by the time I knew what was happening he then decided I needed a crown and a root canal. Plus, he didnt do root canals so sent me somewhere else to get that part done. I had to return with temporary caps back to him to have the work finished. Then, when I get to check out Im handed a bill for over $700 and told by his wife I have to pay now since insurance will not cover it.
It is good work he did, but I honestly dont feel I needed all that stuff done. Plus I was never told about the bill I'd get till it was all over. I'm stil trying to get over this. He kept telling me that he's the best dentist in Cary over and over. I dont understand where all these great reviews are coming from--I think from his friends in his local church he also told me about. I hate to be negative, but its what happened.

Great for the Whole Family!
by KGram
My family and I just moved from Minnesota in the last few months, and I didn't think we would need to find a dentist so quickly, but my daughter chipped her front two teeth in the playground at school. I am grateful to have discovered Dr. Andrews. He was able to fix my daughters teeth without traumatizing her and they look so good I find myself forgetting it ever happened. I personally am not a fan of going to the dentist, but he we so gentle and caring with my daughter that I thought "hey this isn't so scary!" I made an appointment for my husband, myself, and my son. We are so thrilled to have found such a wonderful family dentist!

Exceptional dental care - personal and high-quality
by pbohannon
While it is often difficult to write glowing reviews about most dental experiences, an exception must be made for folks at Dr. Andrews' office. Years ago I asked for a recommendation for a dentist because I felt as if I were being rushed and was unable to get an appointment at another, and the recommendation to visit Dr. Andrews has turned out to be one of the best professional recommendations I've ever received.
I find each visit to Dr. Andrews' office to be low-stress, accommodating, and worth the time. Dr. Andrews has found a way to create an environment in which one feels as if they should take pride in their dental health and also the aesthetic appearance.
The office staff is small and this lends itself well to a familiar, personalized atmosphere. On no occasion at all have I felt rushed, and more importantly I've never felt as if Dr. Andrews was looking for an unnecessary problem to solve.
Though I've been unfortunate enough to have to make several visits over the past few years to address some dental issues, I've been equally as fortunate to have found a provider that has been so kind, professional, and competent as Dr. Andrews and his staff have been. In fact, I now drive over an hour one-way to the office after having moved, and would not consider changing providers.
I give my highest recommendation to Dr. Andrews and his staff.
Pros: Personalized care, competence, personality, office staff

Peace of Mind
by KWorkman12
I have just recently joined Dr. Andrews practice a few months ago. I was having some constant pain in the top right area of my mouth, and my past dentist could not figure it out, after 5 different visits...Ugh! I was referred by a colleague of mine to see Dr. Andrews. She told me she never has had any discomfort with her appointments before during or after. At first I thought she was bluffing. I went anyway because at that point I felt helpless with the pain I was having and still no answer. My first appointment at Dr. Andrews office was very inviting, extremely informative, and best of all I got an answer...yay! Not only did I get an answer for the problem I was having, I got a solution!! Today I still have no more pain :-D. I am very happy I was referred to Dr. Andrews and I now have the peace of mind that when I have my exam, I will be informed of my dental health, and should something happen I feel comfort in knowing I have a great dentist close by.
Pros: Painless, Caring, Very professional

New to the Cary area looking for an excellent dentist
by stopayne
I don't often post reviews online but after recently relocating to the Cary area and visiting Dr. Andrews I felt the need to share my experience. Hands down, the best dentist I have ever been to and I have been to many. I read a couple of reviews on here saying that Dr. Andrews was expensive and being "pushy" about work that wasn't truly needed. I had the complete opposite experience. Perhaps those individuals are a little sensitive to being told things they don't want to hear. Personally, I appreciated the one-on-one time he spent with me on ways to improve my smile and keep it healthy.
In the end Dr. Andrews replaced crowns on my two front teeth that were done poorly years prior by another dentist as well as four veneers. I agree, it is expensive and at times I needed reassuring that I was making a good decision moving forward with getting the work re-done. I know Dr. Andrews did other things to help improve my smile that I didn't pay for but I wouldn't begin to know the time or investment he made. Having crowns and veneers done on your six front teeth is an extensive time commitment and at times uncomfortable and painful. I was very impressed with Dr. Andrews's ability to make me feel comfortable, like I was in good hands. His staff is amazing and they always make me feel like they have my best interest in mind. Specifically I spent hours and hours in the chair with Dr. Andrews and his assistant Allie by his side. They kept me entertained and helped my get through a difficult time.
I recommend Dr. Andrews. You get what you pay for and in the end I was blown away with the quality, care and most importantly my SMILE! I broke my front teeth in an accident when I was thirteen, this was the first time I thought?.these could have been my natural teeth. They look perfect. It really does improve your quality of life because I don't think twice about smiling big, taking pictures, laughing?.anything really. I recommend Dr. Andrews you won't be disappointed.
Pros: Quality work, good communicator, gentle, very skilled

Very Satisfied Patient
by Italy4luv
I had my first dental appointment with Dr. Andrews last Thursday, and I am soooo pleased with their practice I had to share my experience with my fellow city searchers.
Dr. Andrews and his staff were so personable, I felt like I was visiting family members. I was very impressed with the detailed exam, where they took photographs that allowed me to view my teeth in a way I have never been able to see them. I appreciated the time that was taken to answer all of my questions. I look forward to future appointments with Dr. Andrews, and that's saying a lot for the dentist.
Pros: Genuine, Personable, State of the art office
Cons: none

Great Family Dentist wouldn't go anywhere else!
by LMWise
I have just completed my last phase of restorative treatment with Dr. Andrews and each time has been a very pleasant experience. I am always presented with a friendly smile, and a warm blanket to keep me comfy. I used to be terrified of needles and to date getting anesthetic is a breeze, NO PAIN at all! My whole family goes to Dr. Andrews now, and most of my neighbors! Everyone I know who is also a patient is very happy with this practice. If you have had a bad experience somewhere else, give dental work a second chance with Dr. Andrews, nothing he has done hurts, everything feels great. Thanks Dr. A!
Pros: Friendly staff, Comfortable office, No Pain!
Cons: none

Great Doctor, No Pain, Very Comfortable
by JoanCTheQuilter
My dentist is Doctor Mark Andrews in Cary, North Carolina. I have lived in many different communities and have been treated by many dentists. Of all the dentists who have worked on my teeth, Doctor Andrews has the best technique by far in administering anesthesia. It does not hurt! He is always concerned about my comfort and checks frequently to be sure I am not in pain.
His hygienist also does not hurt me when cleaning my teeth. This is important to me. I am grateful for his professional approach in my care. He explains what needs to be done, and listens to any concerns I might have before beginning work.
I am delighted with my "new" smile, and would certainly recommend him to all my friends and family.
Pros: Painless, Personable Doctor & Staff
Cons: None

Run away... far far away!
by tmcknight
I have to be honest. I do not ever write reviews online. I truly felt compelled to do so after my visit with this dentist. Please think twice about going to this dentist. I have too many negative things to say so I'll leave it at that. I know of a few people who have also tried this dentist out and never went back. Between the ridiculous prices and long list of things that he says you MUST get done its crazy. I just needed a filling repaired. I went to another dentist who took care of it right away and didnt make me go through what Dr. Andrews did. I had to get an exam, tons of xrays, watch some video in his office about dentistry, and get a cleaning before he would even look in my mouth. Then I had to pay for my many xrays so I could take them to my much more resonable new dentist. I have a lot to say but think I will hold back and stop here...
Pros: absolutely nothing
Cons: too many to list....

As soon as I was finished I knew I was going to come back. He staff explains the cost and how it changes based on what your teeth look like. The dentist take take great care of my teeth and I always leave with a smile....... This dentist is highly recommended from me, and you will enjoy it greatfully.
Pros: Example: best croissants in town

Great Work!
by traco
I started going to Dr. Andrews b/c my last dentist was very hard to get an appointment with and didn't file insurance. My husband was already going to Dr. Andrews and recommended I go. Before my first appt, I had a chipped tooth and called the office after-hours. Dr. Andrews promptly returned my call to address my concerns. I was very impressed! I like knowing I can call my dentist anytime with a problem and I won't have to wait days to hear back or get an appointment.
The staff is great and really works with you. I know what costs to expect ahead of time. Insurance is confusing but they always take time to explain things thoroughly.
I like knowing that I am the only patient booked during procedures. I get all of the care and attention. They make me feel as comfortable as possible and pain-free. I have had major dental problems and Dr. Andrews has taken on the challenge of taking me on as a patient. I know that he strives for perfection and that makes me comfortable in knowing that I will have great results! He and his staff are aware that times are tough and money is tight, however, quality care is not always the cheapest. I have had cheaper work done in the past but am paying for it later.
I definitely recommend this dental practice!
Pros: one-on-one care, thorough, great staff

Excellent experience
by lovemykids9900
I was very nervous trusting my mouth to Dr. Andrews for the first time, due to some dental anxiety. I needed a couple of crowns done, due to very old, large fillings that were causing sensitivity. He used a new computer delivery system for the local anesthetic and I didn't feel a thing! He asked me several times if I was feeling anything and was so gentle with me. His assistant was very friendly and did a great job of making the time go quickly. Dr. Andrews scheduled me as his only patient during the time of my visit, so he wasn't up and down going betweeen two or three rooms; all his time and attention was on me. He took photos of my teeth while working on me to keep me informed as to what was going on. When one of the fillings was removed and found to be quite deep, he took all precaution to medicate that tooth in order to avoid a root canal. So far, everything feels great. I felt like the office truly cared about me as a person while I was there. I loved the time and detail they took to do my work and do it well. If you'd ever want a perfectionist working for you, in my opinion it would be the person who cares for your mouth.
Pros: empathetic, perfectionist, attention to detail
Cons: none

Very nice staff, squeeky clean office, excellent dental work, expensive but worth it!
by lgilbert42
I've been going to Dr. Andrews for a while now. He's put five crowns on my teeth. Two were my front teeth which were broken off pretty badly in a childhood accident and had looked ugly for years. Now my smile looks fantastic after going to Dr. Andrews. I think Dr. Andrews feels very strongly that his prices are fair for the quality of work he does. I was skeptical at first, but after the work he's performed, I totally agree with him. He is a perfectionist, has a great eye for aesthetics, and is a very knowledgeable dentist! He and his staff go out of the way to make you as comfortable as possible, both during and after procedures. They also have some pretty flexible payment options and they will work with you! They are in the business of keeping patients for years so they aren't out to burn you one time so you'll never come back.
The bottom line is, you are going to get exactly what you pay for. And that is quality work and excellent service with a smile every time. If you just want something done quick and dirty to make your mouth pain go away and don't really mind what the end result looks like, then don't go here! But if your in the market for a nice family dentist that you can build a relationship with and who will make your health and well-being his priority, this is the guy.
Pros: Clean office, nice staff, exceptional dental work
Cons: more expensive compaired to other dentists, but worth it in my opinion

I was very impressed
by IDesign30
I recently went to Dr. Andrews for my first exam and I was very impressed by the staff, office and especially the Doctor. I have never received so much information about my mouth anywhere else. My father recently has had some health complications which has prompted me to be more informed of my own health, and this appointment was very satisfying for me. I have gone to get my teeth cleaned and I don't think I remember having a hygienist anywhere else spend the time with me like she did. Her confidence as well as the staff's in the Doctor felt warm and reassuring, I even had my own mother make an appointment to see Dr. Andrews and if that doesn't tell you anything, I'm not sure what will. I have been more than happy with this office, and have no reason to look elsewhere.
Pros: Warm, Educational, Friendly

Avoid unless you like paying a lot of $$$$$$
by terralore2
Service was great, staff is incredibly pleasant. But when I went to have a crown put it I was not prepared for the very high price of it! I was never told of any cost beforehand; never even saw an estimate. Sat down in the chair and they politely said that will be $1300. So I explained that I was not expecting this fee and they did not care. I told them I couldn't pay that and proceeded to check out. Then they charged me $60 for them booking me the entire afternoon. Sounds like this dentist is in desparate need of money!! $60 for their screwup (they admitted that they never showed me an estimate). That's crappy customer service!!!!
Pros: Great staff, environment
Cons: Bad customer service, expensive

Hands down the best dentist!!
by Mooper
I would recommend Dr.A to anyone, anywhere, anytime! I now live in VA but will continue seeing Dr.A for all my dental work. I?ve always had awful dental visits that never made me feel better, despite the cost, discomfort, & time. I had also become used to being in pain pretty much all day, every day. From the first time I called, I knew this would be different. The staff is so nice, accommodating, cooperative, & understanding!
After my cleaning, Dr.A explained the situation. My many old, metal fillings had grown weak, allowing bacteria to get underneath. My pain was the result of serious deterioration inside my teeth. He recommended cleaning out/restoring all my molars. I was beyond upset. I was terrified of even basic dental work, & the expense and scope of the work were overwhelming! But over the next 2 years & 7 months, we fixed it all.
I have a TERRIBLE gag reflex, so Dr.A used special molds and procedures to make the processes easier for me. He provided medication to help me relax & blankets to keep me warm. When we had a lot of work to do (some visits were 4-5 hours), he worked only on me, with no other clients in the office, so he could concentrate and keep things moving at a good pace. If I needed a break, we?d stop till I was ready again, & he always made sure I felt ZERO pain. He or one of the staff would always call the next day to see how I was, & they spaced out my payments so I wasn?t overwhelmed financially.
In the end, I got 16 crowns, several root canals, 2 oral surgeries, & a mouth guard. For the first time in years, my face/jaws don?t hurt! I didn?t think I?d make it, but Dr.A & his staff held my hand (literally!) all the way. I could never thank them enough! And I get compliments on my teeth all the time! His work may cost a little more, but what you get is priceless?the best quality, most reliable, most technologically advanced, best looking, most pleasant dental work possible. You just can?t get any better!
Pros: Understanding, professional, knowledgable, accommodating, friendly!
Cons: A little more expensive, but worth it! You get what you pay for!

UNEXPECTED BENEFIT
by jasonjplotkin
I went to see Dr. Andrews because one of my back teeth had started to hurt when I chewed. I hadn't been to a dentist or doctor for at least seven years. Dr. Andrews diagnosed and fixed my dental problem with great skill. He discussed with me that I had some risk factors for a heart attack, specifically deep creases in my earlobes, a larger than ideal waistline, and a history of hypertension in my family. Now that I've turned 50, he urged me to see a physician for a complete workup. My doctor found that my bad cholesterol was over 190 and that I had a moderate form of hypertension. Within the last 5 months, I stabilized these conditions with medication, lost 14 pounds, and have started exercising a few times a week. My doctor said that I was on the road to a heart attack, and he was very pleased with where I am now. Dr. Andrews took an interest in not just my teeth, but my total health as well.
Pros: excellent staff, talented doctor, knowledgeble about overall health
Cons: they don't clean adults teeth at the first visit, they do exam and x-rays first

Honest, Friendly, and truly Caring
by my2labs
I went to Dr. Andrews for a consultation on veneers. After a quick exam, he sat up and told me that I had beautifully shaped teeth and he wouldn?t dare cut into them. He referred me to an orthodontist to have them straightened. I had not even considered braces because all I had been told from other dentist was veneers, veneers, veneers. I?m glad I waited. This was about 2 years ago and I have had my braces off for a couple of months and have never been so happy with my smile. Dr. Andrews has made me whitening trays that were very affordable, and now I have MY perfect smile. I have never been so happy to have found such an honest dentist who could have done veneers, but recommend to get braces instead.
Pros: Friendly staff, comfortable office

Avoid this office
by mdcrabs
The Dentist is pushy and expenisve. I would NOT recommend! I took my mouth elsewhere after hearing how much he charged for what needed to be done. My new dentist was shocked when I told him what I was told needed to be done and what the costs would be. Please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for a Dentist! I went in for a simple filling and walked out with a big bill and a piece of paper saying I needed a lot more expensive work done! No thanks! This dentist is more into cosmetic and would probably do very well in California!
Cons: costly, into cosmetic work, not very willing to fix a simple problem but wants to do much more

FANTASTIC!
by 5krunner
My experience with this office has been great. I found the staff to be very friendly and competent. . The doctor was very patient in listening to my concerns, and he showed me pictures they took of my teeth in order to explain my needs. The pictures showed my teeth in detail(even some things like cavities and fractures that were not pretty). Dr. Andrews presented what he thought was the best treatment, and when I explained that finances were a concern, he followed with options that broke the treatment up into smaller amounts so that I could begin addressing my most urgent needs. He completed the work with great skill and most importantly, without pain. The thing that really makes me appreciate this office is that they had a financing plan available which took only a few minutes for approval. This financing allowed me to get the best dental work possible in a way that fit my budget. My smile, and overall health, are very important to me and I believe that the beautiful work I had done is something that will last for many years. Old dental work I had previously always trapped food between my teeth and tore dental floss. Dr. Andrews told me that patients could expect much more of dentistry and he delivered the goods. Thanks.
Pros: nice staff, great work, financing made simple
Cons: none

TRULY EXCEPTIONAL!
by wtwilliams
This office gets it! Patients want to be listened to, treated with respect, not hurt, and get great results. Dr. Andrews has fixed a number of my teeth over the past three months, and the results are AWESOME!
I am just so happy to have found an office that has taken the time to get to know me. I feel like I am much more then just their next paycheck. The entire staff is very nice and concerned about the satisfaction of their patients. I also believe that Dr. Andrews has skill, empathy, and almost obsessive attention to detail in his quest for near perfection in everything he does. I do not feel that I could be in better hands.
Pros: Highly skilled at cosmetic and complicated restorative work.
Cons: You have to pay more here than some other places, but the work is unsurpassed.

Dr. Andrews has been my dentist for about 3 months now, and I am extremely satisfied with the care that I receive and my over all experience with him and his staff. Great Dentist!
by JSteeth31
Most recently I had a tooth that was acting up, and at my check-ups I would ask my previous dentist to look, but there was "never anything wrong", I was discussing this with a co-worker and she told me how great Dr. Andrews was. So I had to check him out. I went to my first exam and his assistant took photographs and x-rays. Dr. Andrews did his exam, and I was blown away by the detail. I now know more about my teeth than I ever thought I would know. I asked him about the tooth that was sensitive to me. The same tooth I asked the previous Doctor. Dr. Andrews told me I had big cavity brewing underneath a filling, and with the symptoms I was having the tooth could possibly be cracked. He was able to show me this cavity through photographs (it was all gray and dark underneath and around the filling). With that I took the soonest appointment available to get the tooth fixed, and sure enough the tooth WAS cracked! I couldn't possibly understand why this wasn't caught before. But, I'm glad that Dr. Andrews fixed it for me. Now I have no more sensitivity and when I come in for my check ups I can trust that Dr. Andrews will keep my teeth in good health.
Pros: Honest, Straight-Forward, Friendly
Cons: I didn't find him sooner

Pushy and Expensive
by caryres
Dr. Andrews is extremely expensive, pushy on his products and takes an excessive amount of time to do simple procedures. Getting a filling required 3 appointments (hence three copays). My new dentist was appalled when he found out they charge $30 to release my PAN photo, which I already paid for! I felt cheated by this dentist and would not recommend him to anyone.
Update as of 1/13/08 in response to this doctor's answer: "This review is a complete fabrication. -Dr. Andrews"
Okay Dr., then please tell us exactly how much you charge to release the PAN photo to customers taking their business elsewhere? Your response has only made it more clear the type of professional you are.
Cons: Expensive, pushy, slow

Very Passionate Dentist
by GillBaker
I truly believe that Dr. Andrews is the most passionate dentist in triangle. He truly cares about my health. I had been going somewhere else and had never been told I have problems with my gums. He referred me to a wonderful periodontist who gave me his professional opinion about the health of my gums. I found out I had gum disease! I was shocked but relieved that I found someone who cared enough and saved my teeth! Dr. Andrews new I was nervous about my "deep" cleaning and called to check up on me! What I guy! And now a year and a half later my gums are completely healthy! Dr. Andrews has removed my silver fillings and replaced them with nice clean tooth colored fillings, they look and feel great! I would recommend him to any and everyone.

Dr. Andrews is a GREAT dentist!
I travel a lot with my job so it is very hard for me to get in. Dr. Andrews and his staff always work very hard to squeeze me in those few days I am in town. The biggest bonus is when I am on the road, I don't have any problems!! I am confident that when I have work done, I can travel to California the next day and not worry about having any issues. He is by far the most skilled dentist in the area! I have recommended him to several people.

EXCELLENT OFFICE
by tcwinston
I was referred to Dr. Andrews by a co-worker who was very satisfied with some of the dental work he had done for her. I hadn't been to a dentist for a few years, and a couple of my teeth were sensitive to cold and chewing certain things. I saw Dr. Andrews and he fixed these areas for me. I have not had any discomfort since. In short, the doctor uses good judgement, does nice work, kept me comfortable during the procedures, and he genuinely seems to care about his patients. The office staff is nice, and they were very helpful with my insurance claims. I would recommend this office to anyone who is looking for a dentist!
Pros: Very skilled and approachable dentist
Cons: Great with dental insurance

I read some of the citysearch reviews for this doctor and decided to give them a shot. I was very impressed with the friendliness of the staff and doctor. The doctor did an excellent job of explaining my needs and did not hurt me when he did a large filling for me. He also made me aware that I had a mild form of gum disease of which I was previously unaware. The hygienist did a cleaning for me which actually took a couple of visits. I am confident that the work I have received was necessary and accomplished at a very high level. The fees that were charged were slightly higher than my insurance allows, but my overall experience was worth it. I would like it if this office had appointments on Fridays because this would be more convenient for my schedule. This office has earned my trust.
Pros: Excellent work, no pain, nice staff
Cons: Do not work on Fridays

FIVE STAR SERVICE
by mlthomasgopack
This office is exceptional in terms of cleanliness and customer service. The doctor does great work, and the staff really care about the comfort and satisfaction of their patients. I had some large fillings in my back teeth that trapped food and hurt when I chewed. Dr. Andrews did two crowns for me. They look exactly
like real teeth. They also no longer hurt . I recommend this office if you are willing to pay a bit more for personalized high quality care. The best thing of all is that the doctor is great with the shot. He really takes his time, and I have never experienced painless dentistry like this in my life.

GREAT SMILE
by scratchgolfer
I am a picky person who expects exceptional service from all of those who provide services for me. My front teeth were injured about twenty years ago while I was playing sports. Over the years,
my teeth had started to look darker and the gums were pulling away from the crowns. Because my appearance is very important in my business, I sought opinions of local dentists in order to see what could be done. Three different dentists wanted to just replace my crowns. I then saw Dr. Andrews, and he had me consult a periodontist about sculpting my gumline to obtain the best result possible. I eventually had the surgery he recommended, and Dr. Andrews delivered the most natural looking and beautiful result I could have ever hoped for. I think you would be hardpressed to find a better dentist anywhere.
Pros: doctor does not cut corners

EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS
by ron68
I hate going to the dentist and hadn't been in about four years. After moving from D.C. a few months ago I found myself searching for a dentist because one of my teeth hurt when I chewed. A friend had referred me to an endodontist because he said I might need a root canal. Luckily, I didn't but because the tooth was cracked, it needed a crown. The endodontist referred me to Dr. Andrews because he said he did this type of work very well. I was very impressed with everything about this office. I was treated personally, Ididn't feel any pain during the procedure, and the results have been beautiful. MY TOOTH DOESN'T HURT ANYMORE! This dentist really cares about his patients as people as well as the quality of his work. His receptionist is also very nice and made me feel very comfortable. I can't recommend this office highly enough.
Pros: Caring doctor and staff

I was initially impressed by the doc -- my visit was pleasant. I was a little surprised that he pressed me to buy a costly x-ray panel that he said my insurance wouldn't cover, but I gladly agreed to pay for the sake of my health. He also gave me an ego-stroking spiel about how attractive I was and -- "don't you think you deserve cosmetic dental work? -- just something to consider..."
During this consultation I was also given full assurance that my visit would be fully covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield (minus the x-rays). Later, I received a bill from his office. I was NOT impressed any longer. I felt very lied to.
I called BCBS -- they told me that his rates exceeded *normal* rates and I was responsible for paying them. When I called the dentist's office, I was rudely told that I should've read the agreement I signed that stated his fees *may* exceed those normally covered.
This practice appears to be upfront and very *pro* your best interest. Just know -- they're a business into making as much money from good natured people. BUYER BEWARE.
Pros: great bedside manner
Cons: fees not clearly explained

The BEST dentist I have ever seen.
by neurorn
What can I say about Dr. Andrews and his wonderful staff. They are all exceptional. From the moment you walk in the door you are greeted by a smiling, familiar face (Allie--forgive me if I spelled your name wrong), and don't have to worry about signing in, like other offices make you do. My appointments have always been on time, never have I had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen. When you get past the door, you are continually greeted with warm smiles, both by Lisa (who is a master at getting your teeth clean, I have had no one else be so meticulous in their job and I truly appreciate all that you do), and by Dr. Andrews, who always extends a warm greeting and handshake to me every time I visit. It is by far the best dental experience I have ever had, and the results are fantastic. From starting out with peridontal issues and broken fillings, I now have new crowns that look amazing and my mouth has never felt better. Yes you may pay a little more money for the services, but he is a master at what he does. You don't pay pennies when you see a master surgeon, do you? The work he provides, and the perfectionism that he gives to each and every one of his patients is worth it. He is also a very friendly person, not one that will just work on your mouth for awhile without talking to you. He and his staff make you feel not like a patient, but as a member of their family. Another part that I love about his office is that it is very clean, and their hand hygiene is amazing. I challenge you to find a germ in any vicinity of the office. As a healthcare provider myself, this makes me feel all the more comfortable as a patient. Keep up the great work guys.
Pros: Meticulous in everything they do, describe the rationale for the work.
Cons: Can't think of any

Highly Skilled and Compassionate
by bcet86
I had seen a dentist in Raleigh for seven years who seemed to treat me more like a collection of teeth than as a person. I saw him about every six months for general cleanings and was told that everything was fine.
I don't think he ever spent more than two minutes with me at each of these appointments. Because I was
interested in some cosmetic work for my front teeth, I decided to try Dr. Andrews. My past dentist told me that he really focussed on fillings and cleanings and that he really didn't feel comfortable addressing cosmetic challenges. The first visit I had with Dr. Andrews was unlike anything I had ever experienced. He took the time to get to know me as a person, did the most thorough exam I ever had, and most importantly, took high quality digital photographs of my teeth that enabled me to see my teeth as never before. After he reviewed my x-rays, we sat down together and studied the pictures he had taken. He took quite a bit of time to explain some of my dental issues which included decay, gum recession, broken fillings, and wear of my teeth. The wear and discoloration of my teeth made me look about ten years older than I am. He carefully explained my treatment options and we agreed on a plan. He recently completed work on my front teeth which included veneers and all porcelain crowns. He was able to add length to my teeth which had worn--and it looked not only beautiful, but perfectly natural as well. He really takes his time and is truly a perfectionist. I couldn't be more happy with his work. His work is not cheap, but I believe it is well worth it because the results he achieved for me are virtually perfection. I don't think you could find a better man or a more competant dentist anywhere.
Pros: painless, he is an artist
Cons: his fees are probably higher than an average dentist, but he is worth it

Great, but expensive and unrealistic
by hsrev
I found Dr. Andrews and his staff to be friendly and professional. I did feel that his prices were high though. As Dr. Andrews told me, he feels that his prices are fair because of the high quality products and equipment that he uses. However, I did not notice a difference between his services and my current dentist's services, who charges a more normal rate. I have great dental insurance and still had to pay over $100 for an exam and x-rays! I have never had to pay over $20 for the same service at several other dentists. Perhaps the patients are paying for the expensive building fees and plush waiting area.....
I also felt Dr. Andrews to be more of a sales person than a dentist. After telling him that my goals were not cosmetic but rather just to have a healty mouth, I felt that he pushed teeth whitening and other costly cosmetic procedures. I didn't feel that he had my best interest in mind, rather just ways to make extra money. After my initial exam, I went to get a few other opinions from dentists in the area, all of whom said that the recommended procedures from Dr. Andrews were "excessive".
I do not want this review to be taken the wrong way. I think Dr. Andrews provides a great service and is a great dentist. I just don't feel that he is the right dentist for me. I wanted to post this review just to give others a heads up. He may be just the type of dentist you are looking for- or not....

Best Dental Experience
by mandy_865
My experience with Dr. Andrews office has been the best dental experience I have ever had. When I was younger my first dental experience was one I had tried to forget. I have had a hard time gathering the courage to make a dental appointment of my own free will, but things were getting a little sensitive, so I knew it was time. I finally made an appointment, and Dr. Andrews and his staff made my experience one that I can be fond of. I have since been a very loyal patient, and have been so confident in my dental care that I have referred several of my colleagues to him. I would highly recommend Dr. Andrews to anyone. But don't let me be the only judge, make an appointment and find out for yourself.

High quality dental care!
by sbk08
Hello to those interested in finding a new dentist. I found Dr. Andrews the same way you are, through citysearch. I moved here about 2 yrs. ago, and sorry to say with 3 kids getting your teeth cleaned after a big move was not the first thing in mind. When I finally had some free time to find a dentist, Dr. Andrews struck my attention. I made an appointment, and was not disappointed. The staff is very kind, and made sure that my first expeirence back was a good one. One of my biggest things was that they file insurance. It is crazy how many dental offices around that do not offer this kind of service. But, with 3 kids, and the thought of filing that paper work....... well, it just was not going to happen. I have had some of my teeth repaired by Dr. Andrews and I am completely satisfied with his work. I have felt no sensativity with my new crown that I felt from day one with the old one. Dr. Andrews was able to show me previous completely works so that I was completely confident to put my teeth in his hands. But, I did not need to see his work to know that I was being taken care of by the right Doctor.
Pros: Careing Doctor, Careing Staff, Attention to detail

Really Great Dentist
by brugges14
I am not much of a talker, so I will keep this short and sweet. I have been going to Dr. Andrews for about 5 years now and he is by far one of the best dentist in the triangle. I had seen another dentist before Dr. Andrews and my expeirence there was not the same as my expeirence everytime I come in. Dr. Andrews and his staff are caring, polite, and truly takes a part in my individual care. I would recommend him to anyone who enjoys a clean environment and quality dental care.

Best dentist I've been to - and I've been to alot.
by mingawhat
I've (well, my parents) spent more on my teeth - braces, oral surgery, etc - than my college education so I've been to a ton of dentists. Dr. Andrews is one of the most competent dentists I've been to. He's a perfectionist and slightly OCD in that he is incredibly careful and thorough - but he leaves the choices up to you in a really respectful way. It's like you are seeing a tooth soothsayer: this is your fortune, now do what you will. I love the work that he did and I will be going back. Not least because his staff is welcoming, alert, honest and sweet. Great experience.

Getting me to the dentist was well... like pulling teeth. My wife was constantly trying to get me to go, and finally I did. Dr. Andrews completely changed my view on going to the dentist. He and his staff made sure I was comfortable at all times. Needless to say after avoiding the dentist like the plaque, I needed to have some work done. What shocked me the most, is how much calmer I was with the chair staring me straight in the face. I felt relaxed, mostly because I felt confident in his work. When I asked to see examples of what I will be going through, he was able to. It also helps that my wife has been very satisfied with crown work she has had, completed about 3 years ago. My first restorative appointment was over 6 months ago, and I never felt happier with my decision to have Dr. Andrews as my dentist.

Be prepared to drop tons of money
by ronguy
I would only recommend this dentist if you have A LOT of money to spend. I think he is more into cosmetic dentistry and just finds all kinds of things to do in your mouth! After being told I would have to spend a LARGE amount of money to get all this stuff done.. I went to 2 other dentists for opinions. BOTH of those dentists found that I only needed 1 filling repaired. Thats it! I think he is under the impression that everyone is looking for movie star teeth! My teeth are fine just fix my little fililng repair and let me go for $100 instead of a few THOUSAND dollars!

Top Notch!
by limorr
People who know me will agree that I am one of the pickiest people around and I want things to be right. I'm the kind who will research before buying things that I expect to last awhile (cars, appliances, cameras, etc.), so that goes double when I am selecting someone to take care of my medical & dental needs. I had continued to go to a really good dentist in Durham after moving to Cary several years ago, but decided after a few years that I should switch to someone more conveniently located. After looking at other comments on this site, I decided to try Dr. Mark Andrews. I have been so pleased with his work. I had three crowns done this year. They look great, they feel like my regular teeth, not something artificial, and I haven't had the feeling that my bite was off even the slightest bit. The other services, such as cleanings and routine exams, have also been done to my liking, as well. The entire staff is very skilled and friendly. This picky person endorses Dr. Mark Andrews and those on his staff.
Pros: He's a perfectionist
Cons: None

Great Dentist

What can I say, Dr. Andrews is very skilled in his profession. Ever since my first appointment, I was confident in his work. He showed me photographs of previous work, and explained in great detail what he was going to begin with to improve the health of my teeth. I have had 3 crowns, and 2 inlays. At every appointment I always know he and his staff do everything they can to make sure I am comfortable. I would recommend him to anyone in need of a new dentist.
Pros: clean office, nice staff, quality work

I have had a positive experience with Dr. Andrews' crown work
by graciepuppy
I have had very positive experiences with the extensive crown work Dr. Andrews has completed for me. I have not felt like he was rushing to complete any work he was doing; rather, that he would take as much time as needed to get the job done to the best of his ability. The staff who assist him in performing the crown work have always been very comforting, calming, and accomodating. I also appreciate the fact that Dr. Andrews says that is a priority for him to keep his office and his procedures clean. I feel very fortunate that myself and my husband are among Dr. Andrews' patients.

A GREAT experience
by tcmustang
Dr. Andrews is a wonderful, caring, and gentle dentist. I have had my share of dental work and been through dentist trying to find one. When I came to Dr. Andrews he was more than willing to meet my needs and get my teeth where they needed to be. He takes his time, his office is very nice and his staff is very nice as well. I have now been seeing and going to Dr. Andrews for about two years now and I wouldnt go anywhere else. My teeth, from the work we have done thus far, feel so much better and I feel so much better about them. I couldn't ask for a better dentist and a more caring person. I highly recommend seeing Dr. Andrews! He is such a wonderful person and an even better dentist!
