I went here for the first time last night. It was so bad, I was compelled to sign up and write my first review.

When my friend and I arrived, there were only 2 other parties there (8:30pm on a Thursday night). Probably the first sign this place sucked. He ordered his usual Pho with meatballs and I had Vermicelli with grilled beef and meatballs along with iced coffee.

His Pho didn't look right from the beginning. It had a weird, slightly neon greenish/yellow color to it. There was a good half inch of pure oil swirling around on the top. After tasting it, we both agreed it was some nasty concoction made with chicken broth that tasted nothing like Pho should. Pho broth is ALWAYS made with beef, usually ox tails, and there is no oil used in the cooking. Clearly disappointed, he thought saucing it up with Sriracha and salt would help. 2 mouthfuls in, we brought it to their attention that it was not edible and asked if he could get another bowl that wasn't so... "bottom-of-the-pot". They quickly brought him another. Strange, this time it already had Sriracha in it and tasted just as bad as the last round.

He usually sucks Pho down in 8 minutes flat but he couldn't finish it in 30 today. "If I wanted a bowl of Ass Soup, I'd make it myself. "

My vermicelli was just as bad. The meatballs weren't grilled, they were fried and tough. And the beef is a thin slice wrapped around ground beef and is hor d'ouevres-sized. It was pink in the middle. Not a raw pink, but the discoloring that occurs to refrigerated meat that sat around. It was clearly recooked and microwaved because the beef slices had hardened and was not edible, but if you turned it over, it had that light brownish coagulated stuff that occurs when you boil meat. I didn't even get through half of it.

At least I knew the coffee would be great. Because it's pretty damn hard to screw that up. I was wrong. They don't use the potent french roast that is standard in ALL vietnamese restaurants. It was some Folger-y crap that was just brewed extra strong.

This is the first time that I walked out of a restaurant without leaving any sort of tip. I would never go there again. It's not that my standards of Pho are high because I'm asian; This place just sucks THAT bad.

I had never been to a Vietnamese restaurant before until I tried this one. I friends dragged me here telling me I would enjoy it - and she was right. I ordered a delicious lunch of shredded vegetables and beef plus a fried rice. Although the rice was similar to Chinese food, the beef and vegetables were very different - light and healthy - not heavy with sauce or salt. The drink I ordered was delicious as well. It was a creamy strawberry non-alcoholic drink with these gummy strawberry flavored candies floating in it. So much fun!

I was introduced to Vietnamese food by a co-worker that is from Vietnam. He suggested that we all order from Pho Hoa one day for lunch and he would help us pick out things that we might like. I have been hooked from that very first day. The food tastes great, is healthy but filling and the service is fast and friendly. I try to get by there to eat at least once a week.
