I took my 32' Sony to Oak Parks, four months ago. They said they would look at it and give me a call the next day. I never got that call. The second day I called them, and was told they hadn't had a chance to look at it yet. After two weeks of my calling and usually getting the voice mail, I was finally told that my tcom board was bad. By this point I didnt even want to fix it anymore, but they said the part was already ordered and it would be in the next day. The next day no part came. A week and a half of waiting and the part finally came in. I was told it would be installed that day, and ready for pick up the next day. When i arrived at the shop the next day, i was told that they didn't get around to fixing my tv. i'm pretty technically inclined, so i figured i could probibly put the part in myself. when i asked for the tv and the part that i had already paid for, i was told that neither was even at the store. The tech said he would have them bring it in for me, and call when it could be picked up (could tell he was saying anything to get me out of the store). I call and go to the store every other day for a month constantly being told ""it's coming"", ""there's nothing i can do"". At that point they started pretending they had no idea who i was or that i had ever had a tv there! lawyers are getting involved as we speak. Save your self the trouble and go somewhere else, these guys are a joke.

Once again competitors are writing reviews. The review after this one is definately bogus. Oak Park would never charge for any services that were not done and we strive for complete customer satisfaction. It almost looks like a child wrote the review since it repeated itself so much. We give free estimates in the shop and in home usually just the service call of 55 which if repaired would be part of the repair charge, but sometimes no charge at all for in home estimates. For over 35 years in business, we have never had any complaints with the BBB. I trust that you use common sense in reading all reviews. Thanks, Oak Park Electronics Inc.

Stay as far away from OAK PARK as you can. These people are untrustworthy, incompetent, give you the run around and take money for services not rendered.

Stay far far away unless you want to waste your money for services that are very very poor. they are incompetent but will charge you even if they can not fix the electronics.

I got the run around for 2 months . After 2 months the TV was not repaired and they had the nerve to charge me for services NOT RENDERED. I got the run around for 2 months and to add insult to injury they could not even repair it. But they sure did take my money.

BE AWARE of OAK PARK. AVOID them at all cost.

i would give them zero stars if it was possible but the lowest is a one star rating.

Terrible company.

Pros: nothing good about this company, avoid them at all costs
Cons: not trust worthy, give you run around, incompetent, crooks

Last review on Precision TV's page is from Oak Park Electronics, this claim has no merit, This is one of two accusations from Oak Park Electronics that we (Precision TV) has written negative reviews on them. We at Precision TV believe that is unethical and bad business practice and we 100% deny this accusation. As for years we have been recommending Oak Park Electronics for repairing items that we do not service such as camcorder's, microwaves, DVD players and other small electronics, and for the most part Oak Park is one company that we do not get complaints on, which leads us to believe they are a good company, and believe it we do hear plenty of horror stories involving other companies. We will not be recommending Oak Park any longer.\r
Mr. Kaleel we ask that if there is something that you would like to say or ask regarding Precision TV that you take the high road and contact us directly at 919-342-0308 instead of making false accusations and slandering our great reputation.\r

This company should be known for the worst service ever. . I bought a Samsung TV from Circuit City a few years ago and recently started having problems with the set. I called OAK PARK ELECTRONICS to fix the problem. They said it was two panels and should take about 2 weeks times. It is now 3 almost 4 months waiting and still not fixed. They have never called me about the delays. I have always had to call them and they say they will call you back but they don't. According to them the part is now back ordered. I went into the shop to find out the status of the part order, 1st off they could not find my information, 2nd their shop looks like an electronics grave yard. after finally attaining the part numbers. I called samsung to find out that the parts that were needed are readily available. As the owner of a service company I coulnd't imagine that I would be in business long if I used these same practices.. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY, if you do don't say I did't tell you so.\r
\r
PRO'S: NONE\r
\r
CON'S: Poor Communication, Technician seemed unknowledgeable, was lied to on multiple occasions.

I have been taking my electronics to Oak Park Electronics for years, They have always done right by me. Even when it was less expensive to replace than to repair, they never once charged for their time to look at the unit and tell me it would be cheaper to buy new than to fix. When they have fixed, they prices were always quite reasonable (usually less than many of their competitors). If I ever had a problem (rarely) with a unit after one of their repairs, they always took it back and remedied it as quickly as possible. I have recommended the place to others and those who went there were quite pleased with the work and price. BTW, I have been a customer for 20 years.

A poor review by Ted07 is further down the list. You can click on the name in blue that wrote the review and see what was done also the same day. Competitor gave bad review and then great review for his company. This is not right. We strive for complete customer service and have never, never asked anyone to write any reviews for us. I think if the service is good enough and they are satisfied, then they will do it on their own. Thanks, william kaleel-owner/svce mgr.

I've used Oak Park off and on for electronics repairs for over 30 years. I honestly didn't know they were still out there.

Looked for in home TV repair this morning on Craigslist, lo and behold, OAK PARK was listed!!

Long story short, they had an open 10 AM slot, I got them here at 10, at 11:25 I'm watching my TV and writing this!

Mr Kaleel fixed my 11 y/o 54"" Toshiba and it looks better than it has for a few years, even the color is crisper and for a fraction of a NEW much smaller unit. I'd forgotten how good this set once looked.

If you need electronics repairs, call Oak Park, they know their stuff!! And their prices are not abusive either.

My Vizio GV47 inch LCD stopped working. I researched the issues on the web and the problem seemed to be a bad control board. I priced the board alone and it would have been over $200 for the parts and shipment and it would have taken over a week. Other research revealed this type of issue generally cost's between $400 to $500 to repair professionally. William the tech trouble shoot the board and found that the whole board did not need to be replaced but simply a capacitor and BT fuse. He fixed the issue with a solder tool and the TV working back in 2 hours. I paid half the price most places would have charged. There would have been no need to replace the whole board, his troubleshooting saved me over $200 dollars.

My 2 year old Panasonic Plasma developed a curious magenta rectangle in the middle of the screen. I called around and most repair firms wanted to take my tv to their shop for a few days and charge $80-100 just to look at it. I left a message late Friday with William, and he called me back that evening and we set a time for Monday morning. He arrived on the dot and within an hour he had fixed a loose connector on one of the boards. Picture is now perfect again. Would use them again and recommend.

I had another shop come to check my tv and they charged me $90 to tell me what was wrong. After paying that and waiting 3 weeks they told me they were not able to find the part to fix it. I called Oak Park Electronics and they came the next morning. They were not only much cheaper than the other shop but they had the parts needed with them in their truck. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. William, the repair guy, was very friendly. Great service.

I read many of the comments/complaints and agree with all except the positive ones.\r
\r
Oak Park Electronics is the WORST I have ever had to deal with. The phone person DOES act like you are bothering her when you call. She gave us bad information that ended up costing us more money and time.\r
\r
I, too, would give them no star if I could.\r
\r
AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS !!

Have not had any response concerning replacement "main control board" for Polaroid FLM-3732. Have left 2-3 messages. So I assume you've given up looking for the replacement part and I'll pursue purchasing a new flat-screen next week. Since you did replace the capacitors on the power board....can I sell any of the other parts from this 37 inch Polaroid? Was really hoping that you would find the part on an existing tv around your shop or fellow repairman's shop. If so, how do I go about selling the parts from this Polaroid? It's only 3 years old....hate to haul it to the dump when some parts are usable and I could recoup a little money from the sale of those. Hope to hear from you soon!

This story had a very frustrating start because I called another local Raleigh TV repair company and after six weeks and $90, my TV was still very broken and I was very angry. They said I needed a special part, and it never came in, then they never showed up for scheduled appointments and on and on. \r
\r
Then I made the first smart decision - I called Oak Park Electronics! I called at 4 pm, made an appointment for the following day at 10:30 am. The technician showed up exactly on time, spent less than an hour taking apart my very large and very old Sony TruSurround, and voila - the TV works! Whatever parts were needed, he had in his bag! And while he was here, he figured out why another smaller TV wasn't playing DVDs in color. \r
\r
I am absolutely delighted and I recommend this company without hesitation. If you want your TV repaired promptly and you want honest and dependable customer service, call Oak Park. I only wish I had known this earlier - so don't make the same mistake I did. Call Oak Park!!

Our flat-panel TV developed a problem powering on. I called Oak Park, and William came out the next day. He arrived on time, and repaired the TV on site, in 90 min flat! Replaced some capacitors on one of the circuit boards - it made me a bit nervous when he pulled out his soldering gun... He did Excellent work! I hope I never need electronics repairs again, but if I do, I'll certainly call them again.

Don't believe all you read! Yes, William came out that day, charged $55 (to be paid by check or cash), promised to get back with estimate. I have made many, many calls over more than three weeks. Never get to speak with William, only his brother.
It is always excuses - parts supplier can't get to his place of business due to snow, ""still working on it"", ""trying to find remanufactured parts. They never, never have courtesy to call me. Finally had repair done elsewhere. Oak Park even got the diagnosis WRONG!

Rick P's service on his Vizio flat screen tv was actually set up as an N.E.W. svce contract which was being covered under warranty. Their limit for reinbursment for repair was 250 dollars. Our service call is 55 and flat rated labor for flat screens is 100 dollars leaving 95 dollars available for the repair part. We searched for a rebuilt module at this price but were none were available at that price. Customer eventually found one for 170 dollars but N.E.W. would not pay this much. We reccomended they replace the tv which they did as per our suggestion. We were in contact with the customer as much as possible but most of his contact was with his warranty company. william kaleel- svce mgr

These guys will work until the job is done. i had a convergence issue with my big screen tv, these gentlemen quoted a price over the phone, came the next day and fixed the problem. If we weren't already big enough fans, when a DIFFERENT problem surfaced seemingly related, they came back out for FREE extremely fast and approached the new problem. when THAT part was faulty, they ordered the new part from the factory at NO ADDITIONAL COST! these guys will tell you they just want to make sure the customer is satisfied and i really trust that it is the truth. I highly recommend them, it is so hard to find service like this, oak park electronics is a true rarity.

They were there on time. Very reasonable and a pleasure to deal with. We thought it might cost a fortune and therefore would have just paid for the diagnostics and finished it there. They were so pleasant and the price was so fair, I would not hesitate to call them again. The TV works like new. Thank you

Oak Park Electronics has always been the first company I think of whenever we have had issues with our TVs, we have used their services on 2 previous occasions and they have always been professional and repair cost reasonable . Just called them 9:00am to come out and resolve a issue with a JVC large screen projection TV that will not come on at all and another large screen TV that is over 10 years old and was previous repaired by Oak Park Electronics with complete satisfaction. Serviceman will be at our house by 11:30 same day, that service! If there was a rating available I would give them the highest possible marks. Thank you for being a company who treats customers with respect and fairly!

I called this company at 1:30 and by 4:30 my TV was fixed and working better than ever. I think that speaks for itself. Oh, and the technician took the time to look at another minor problem we are having with another TV as well.

I purchased a Samsung 52" LCD TV from a large retailer who will remain nameless (begins with "S"). After having this TV for only 15 months it would not turn on any more. The manufacturer kept giving me the run around and the retailer wanted a rediculous fee just to come out an look at it, and that was going to be several days out. Oak Park had a cancellation and came to my house the same day and fixed the problem on the spot. The tech was courteous, neat and thorough. My total out-of-pocket was significantly less than I would have expected. I would definitely use them again and will recommend them to others I know!

My HD tv had green shadows and lines on dark scenes. William took his time to locate just the right problem and fixed it. My tv is back to looking great! I would definitely use them again!!

Pros: Came same day! Fixed tough problem!

These guys are the absolute best electronics repair service that there is. I have used other ""recommended"" shops in the Triangle and none have even come close to the service that Oak Park Electronics provides. They came out the day after I called, were prompt and quickly diagnosed & repaired the problem on my Samsung 52"" LCD TV. William was very nice and exremely professional. He explained the problem to me in terms that I understood. When he handed the the bill I was pleasantly surpirsed at how reasonable their rates were. I HIGHLY recommend Oak Park Electronics for all of your repair & service needs. Don't waste your time or money anywhere else!

Having been a loyal customer of Oak Park Electronics for the past 15 years or so, I can tell you first hand that George and his Brother at O.P.E. provide first class and very reasonably priced service each and every time. These guys are also as honest as the day is long, and how often to you find that in the repair business? You simply cannot go wrong with these guys and I for one will keep coming back for as long as they are around. Having said that, I want to address the one bad review that these guys unjustly received on 1/26/08. This Ill Informed person commented on how there was some excess product in the lobby, and somehow from this he assertained or "assumed" that they must not fix many sets. Well, for their information, that is product that has already been repaired and is waiting to be picked up, or it is product that was repaired and never paid for, so Oak Park had to absorb their repair bill, and those items are usually for sale in order to try and cover their expenses. All repair shops are also required to hold onto pieces that are not paid for for a certain period of time also before disposing of them if I am not mistaken. Was this person looking for a maid, or a good repairman? I just had to say something because some people "assume" way too much, and that comment was not only ignorant, but it was also undeserved. Oak Park Electronics is by far the best Electronics Repair facility in Raleigh..Period. Five Stars!

I called two repair shops before I decided on this one, and I made the right choice. First of all, the other shop I called was going to charge me $40 more just for the service call. I called Oak Park in the morning and my TV was fixed that same afternoon! William was very knowledgeable, friendly, and he worked efficiently. I would highly recommend Oak Park Electronics for anyone who wants quality service from an honest company.

Our 17-year-old TV died around 9:00am, and we called Oak Park after seeing a good review of their service. Not only did they come to our home by 10:00 that same morning, they fixed the old TV good as new AND another broken TV that we had been told wasn't worth repairing. The entire service call to fix TWO TVs cost us less than the cheapest, tiniest TV we could've bought new. The service guy was extremely friendly, helpful, and super fast. We highly recommend Oak Park to anyone needing electronics repair work!!!

I had my projection TV checked out by another local company and was given a laundry list of problems that needed to be addressed. By the way none of the items that they listed were actually the problem. The price of the repair (in which they would not guarantee reliable service) was in excess of $1000. \r
\r
I called Oak Park as a last resort before I hauled this TV off to the dumpster and had a techician in my home in less than 2 hours of my call. The tech discovered the problem and corrected it in about 1 hour and the TV is working fine at a fraction of the quote that I received from the other company. I was very impressed with the knowledge of the technician and his ability to quickly isolate the trouble and then fix it right there in my living room. I would recommend these guys to anyone who is considering getting rid of their set after getting an astronomical estimate. \r

Keep up the good work. Just got a call from my father in-law that the same techinician has just fixed his projection TV also. This is what I call quality service.

My 35"" Sony TV went on the fritz. One call to Oak Park to make an appointment, and they came to my house at the promised time the next day. The technician quickly found and replaced the broken components, and my TV is working again.
