Currently in a Terrible Experience with Parnell Pool and Spa. See my Profile picture so that you are aware of the Gross Negligence conducted by Parnell Pool and Spa, who has stores in Fayetteville and Lumberton, NC, due to their lack of planning and execution in the placement of my in ground swimming pool. The issues was identified on 9JUN15 and the City issues a Stop work order on 23JUN15. Since 9JUN15, they have abandoned the project and have refuse to either fix the issue or reimburse the money I have spent. I have filed a complaint with the NC licensing board for general contractors in which they have an open investigation. Instead of accepting responsibility they are placing the blame on the customer (me). I paid them to build me a in ground swimming pool since they are supposed to be the experts (obviously they are not), they built it on two easements since they did not utilize a land plot resulting in the City issuing a STOP WORK ORDER. Their excuse, Not that they decide to draw a graph of the property since they didn't refer to a land plot which would have made them aware of where they could LEGAL build but that it was the customer's (my) fault since I should have told them where the easements were . Although I did initially pointed out my concerns with visible power lines at the far end of my property and they neglected to look into my concerns. Stay away from this company, they have horrible customer service (to include not returning calls) and their interests are not with the customer. The above is only the beginning. Here are other issues that came to light when I dug a little deeper into their lack of actions prior, during and after issues were identified:

- Neglected to conduct due diligence to visible overhead power lines concerns
- Neglected to obtain land plot or conduct a survey resulting in encroaching on power lines and drainage easement; both depicted on public County and City zoning records.
- Neglected to build to NC State Building Code & all other applicable State & Local Laws. Ordinance and Regulations as stated on City Permit.
- Neglected to adhere to NC Law: Call before you dig; There is no record of a work order prior to excavation. Utility lines were never marked.
- Neglected to post City Permit at construction site.
- Neglected to inform the City about the encroachment issues verified on June 10, 2015. City Zoning Office was not aware of encroachment until I informed them on June 23, 2015 since Parnell Pool & Spa was not returning my calls.
- Parnell Pool & Spa employee not present to supervise retaining wall construction subcontracted to Steve Britt which was also built on an easement and they neglected to include it in the Application for Building Permit.

One STAR is way too generous for my experience with this company.

Our experience with Parnell Pool and Spa has been a total disaster. In fact, it has been one of the worst we have ever had with any company. After paying for a pool liner in mid February of 2013, we were informed that we would be called to be scheduled for services. After 3 weeks, no one ever called. I called the company 3 times before receiving a call back. Finally, contact was made and an appointment was made to install new pool liner. Pool liner was installed with no problem it seemed. We had also paid for a foam wall replacement. The installation crewman told me that our foam wall did not need replaced, therefore, he would make sure that a refund would be issued. This did not happen until approximately 2 weeks ago. It is now July 1st. About 3-4 days after installation of pool liner took place, I noticed that the crew never returned back to fill in a hole they had dug alongside the pool. Several calls later, I was reassured that someone would be back to fill in the hole. This never happened. I had to fill in the hole myself. Forward to late May, the pool liner that was installed, is now detached from the pool wall. Also, our pool has buckled in where the crew had dug a hole. Several phone calls later, an installation specialist came and took pictures. He reassured me that something needed to be done. I was relieved, especially after all the effort it took to get someone to listen to me. Last week, the manager called me on Monday to reassure me that he had not forgotten about our dilemma. He also promised to call later on that week after having someone else look at the pictures. He never called back. Last night, spouse came home. We called the company separately. He never received a call back. I received my call back by the manager only to be told that it was our job to fill the hole back in and that our wall was already buckled in when the job took place. This was totally untrue. I was also accused of not being home during the repair. This was also untrue. I gave the phone to my spouse who continued to have the same pointless conversation with the manager. Bottom line, manager stated that they were not going to repair damages, nor were they going to offer a refund. I regret not having read the reviews for this company on insiderpages.com $1500 dollars will now cost us double that, maybe more, plus loads of inconvenience.

Our experience with Parnell Pool and Spa has been a disaster. Took days off to be there, they didn't show nor call. We asked them to push the extra dirt into the corner of our yard, but instead, they spread it over the whole backyard killing all the grass. To make it worse, they wanted to charge me for spreading the dirt and charge me again for coming back to fix it. They started filling the pool with water without contacting the City water department, now we have to beg and plead to the City not to charge us sewage costs for the water that was put in the pool. The setup crew got a warning from the City inspector for not having the proper permits, and to show how smart this company is, they sent a concrete crew that didn't have the proper license. Got a $1300 fine for that one. The pool is now starting to turn green because it has sat so long waiting for them to come back and treat it. They had a new person call us today saying the Tech will be there tomorrow to start the pump and treat the pool, here is hoping!!!

Go to ANYONE else! We're 2nd owners of this house and it's our first pool (salt system). Parnell installed the pool and I've had to replace the pump system after only 2 years, and according to the repairmen the pump that was originally installed by Parnell was USED!!! The pool even has a leak and the grounding cable that circles the pool is broken someplace and fails to do its job properly, which can be noted by the occasional tingly feel when you enter the water. Parnell pushes their chemicals on you and now changed their services so that they won't even test your water unless you agree to buy THEIR chemicals, which are overpriced and largely unnecessary. Our 2nd summer used chemicals from Walmart and our pool has never been cleaner nor cheaper to operate. Lastly, the gentleman in charge (R _ _ _ _ ) never has the time of day to assist and when the staff hands you off to him for more detailed assistance he acts as though he has no time for you and that you are bothering him. He continues to work on his computer and not even look at you while you are seeking his assistance with questions, and really makes you feel unworthy of his time. While I was deployed to Afghanistan, my wife got the same level of treatment from Parnell. I don't understand how they can stay in business, WAKE UP PEOPLE. I will NEVER go back to ANY Parnell store as it's clearly evident they want only the financial benefit of serving customers and horribly fail at following thru on their commitment to provide quality service after the sale; RUDE/SNOBBY, PERHAPS INCOMPETENT, OVERPRICED, AND PROFIT (NOT PEOPLE) ORIENTED!

Parnell Pool & Spa is the best pool supply store in the area. They have everything you need in stock and always make themselves available to advise on particular pool problems. Prices on supplies are much less than some of their competitors.
