I have always loved this place. In fact for the past several years a group of us meet at least once during the fall season. I had always told many people around the Raleigh area about how wonderful it was but as of this year that opinion has changed.
The family friendly atmosphere has gone by the wayside and been replaced by rudeness and lack of respect for the family unit. My son was asked to move from the children's cow train to make room for an adult without a kid! Not only was this embarrassing it separated him from his friends. The whole point of being at the farm that day. The tractor driver then poked fun as him for crying saying" Don't be that way, boy." I was directed to the manager, Billy, who was a anything but understanding. He simply told me he the driver must have been having a bad day and that he has 1,000 of kids come through and has had no complaints. I would like Mr. Billy to be clear of 2 things, 1) some people merely do not complain, they simply leave never to return, very common in the business world and 2) my only concern is my child at that time NOT the 1000 of others who come to the farm.
Our disappointment continued as we went to the jumping pillow where although the sign states adults can not jump with kids was filled with rowdy men. The attendant had no problem allowing them to act like fools and continually knock children off. My group and I witnessed several parents even remark about the problem.
My dismay is the attitude toward the kids. The young staff is still great with the children but I feel the older generation may have forgotten what having young kids is like. I advise to them is when someone is upset, even if you disagree, do not defend, apologize and move on. This was my second visit this year. The first time I brought 15 other families with me. Yesterday I had 4 other families. There will be no other visits. I will direct folks to other farms such as Ganyard in Durham, Hill Ridge in Youngsville, Green Acres and Phillips in Cary.....bad thing about folks being from around here they already know the replacements when bad customer service takes place.

Our family is going on our 3rd year of visiting Vollmer Farms. We have a blast everytime. Jumping on the Great Pumpkin Jump is so fun for both kids and adults. Also the underground slide is a blast as well! Our new family tradition is to go there every fall :)

Pros: many fun fall things to do!

Cons: a little pricey

Its my understanding that the NC Dept of Labor shut some of the amusements for a while this summer. Something about they didn't bother getting a couple of them inspected. They had to make changes to meet regulations before DoL would let them operate them again. Now if they're so family oriented wouldn't you think they'd be all about safety? Just the kind of place you want to take your kids hey?

If you are looking for fun and adventure in a family day trip this is the place to be. I have been to Vollmar farms four times now and my family and students have had a blast. We learned how to make butter, we went on a hayride tour and we enjoyed the huge playgrounds. The best attractions would be the 40ft slide, the big jumping pillow and the tractor pulled ride. My children enjoyed the corn crib, the tennis ball shot put and the yummy kettle popcorn treat. We bought the pies and they are so good as an after dinner dessert. The staff is friendly, the bathrooms are clean and they even have running water and soap to wash up! I was so pleased with the produce that they are growing and how organic is apart of the how they grow everything. The farm is a family place with generations of the Volmar's standing behind the pride of the community in the work they do. The farm is located in the heart of Bunn, a beautiful place to spend your day. This is a peaceful place to share a lunch and meet other families in a wonderful setting. Happy Fall to Everyone.

I've been there a few times now as a chaperone and it's ok...nothing great. This weekend my daughter wanted to go and they charged $15.00 a person. That is nothing more than price gouging! It's no where worth that amount of money ..just to walk a piece of farmland. As for field trips each student had to pay $11 each...again out of line. Mrs. Vollmer is also on the school board and feel that this is a conflict of interest to making money off the students. If I were you..I'd find another place to go!.

Pros: would be a great family family place if the price was better

Cons: not worth the price
