My boyfriend and I just finished eating here. We also just finished laughing at Matthew B.'s post because we had the EXACT SAME Experience. The place was barron, and understandably so...A staff member smoked a cigarette by our table outside while we were eating, and the tables and chairs were dirty and dusty. Chips were stale, food in general was terrible. Our waitress was attntive, and yes the beer was cold - these were the only upsides to a terrible excuse for a restaurant. Here's the kicker - when I sent back my chile rellano (soggy, not fresh poblano peppers, no taste..) Maria herself came out and told me I still had to pay for it because there was nothing wrong with it! I worked in food service for 8 years and this is an absolute no-no in the food industry. An epic customer service fail. I don't think anyone running this place was Mexican or knew anything about Mexican food. This place won't last for long, until then - steer clear....

If you're looking for poor service, weird ambience, and over-priced Mexican food, then this is the place for you.

The parking lot was empty at 6:30pm on a Saturday evening, and upon entering the establishment, my girlfriend and I discovered the two other patrons were actually mannequins placed at a table by the front window, ostensibly to conjure the illusion that people actually dine here. The only non-artificial life forms I encountered here were the questionable staff.

A rather sweaty woman emerged from the kitchen to ceremoniously roll the trash through the middle of the restaurant and out the front door several times. She did this with all the subtlety of a herd of elephants and no regard for the fact that it was during supposedly peak business hours.

Our server simply disappeared after awhile until I whistled rather loudly and she returned to the table apologizing because she apparently "forgot" her only customers. Then she hovered next to me as I was signing the check saying that she needed to make sure she got the top copy. She seemed desperate to see if I would tip her at all.

The food was more expensive than it should have been, considering the bland atmosphere and location. The average plate was ridiculously priced over $10 for a couple of items with rice and beans. The chips were also stale and not house-made. At least the beer was cold.

The only truly authentic aspect to the entire dismal affair was the absolutely disgusting restrooms, which apparently were meant to evoke the feeling of using the toilet in a Mexican prison. Kudos to Maria's in this regard.

If you want a bizarre restaurant experience that will leave you extremely unsatisfied and incredulous as to how inept some business owners can be, then give Maria's a try. If you want good, affordable Mexican food, go somewhere else... anywhere else. Taco Bell is better than this abject failure of a restaurant.
