I work in a Women's Clinic and some of my coworkers had told they get regular massages with Ray. They actually booked me a massage with him as a birthday present. He was AMAZING! I'm not sure if it was because he was a guy and was stronger, but that was the best massage I've ever had. I now go in once a month to see him. Definitely book with him if he has any openings.

Well, where should I start?? I have been to Hairtage a few times and the service has been pitiful to say the least. When I called to schedule my appointment I specifically asked for someone who had experience with styling bi-racial hair ,and specifically requested a Master stylist. When I got there, I was really excited to get my hair done only to be let down again...The stylist took forever to do a basic touch up- don't blame her though my hair is very long and thick, but she did take longer than the average stylist and she wasn't very friendly either. The end product was okay, my hair was still very wavy- I had to ask her to use a flat iron to smoothen out the strands. I hate telling people how to do their jobs, especially when the claim to be "masters" at what they do!!! My hair looked okay-nothing special. When it was time to check out I was very confused about the price I was quoted-over $200.00!!!! To my dismay, the stylist charged me for the flat ironing, trimming my ends and for extra product that she used. It would have been nice to know that I was going to be charged extra BEFORE she proceeded to snip and used extra product- which is what professional hair dressers would do!!! Now, I don??t mind paying a steep price for quality service, but when I could perform the same service myself in a shorter period of time I definitely have a problem paying for something that??s not worth the price or my time. Don??t get me started on the front desk clerks?they need rigorous training in customer service?I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I have been to hairtage quite a few times, i am a regular client there, for MASSAGE. ive seen multiple employees, most of which are no longer there. they do have a high turnover rate i supose. i foud one i liked and rebooked with them, to find out they were no longer there right before my next apt. the staff was friendly and offered their appologies and a discount to try their new therapists savannah. i was hesitant at first because I had never seen her before and i wasnt sure what to expect.
they assured me she was wonderful and very detailed in her work.
I went to my scheduled apt, she welcomed me with a sweet smile, was very firendly and attentive, and they were right! she was amazing! I have horrible back pain and hip/sciatic issues, and she was the first person to make me feel 100% better! not only that but the massage left me on cloud 9 and i felt like a new person.
i have since been back to see her 3 times, and i will continue to recieve treatments from this wonderful young woman! she always makes sure my needs are met and goes BEYOND expectation!!! It was sucha rhythmic massage- very relaxing and yet still worked into my muscles, i reccomend Savannah to anyone looking for a massage

I am a Doctor in the area and one of my pregnant patients had told me about a Massage Therapist, Ray, they had been going to for a while. This actually wasn't the first time I had heard great things about him. I decided to check into getting a massage by him and made an appointment. I was a little nervous about getting a massage by a male therapist, but to my comfort, he was very professional and friendly. The massage was incredible, and he is very well educated about the body. I actually learned a few things about myself from him! So to anyone seeking an amazing massage, check out Ray!

I was very skeptical about going to Hairtage because of all of the bad reviews. Well I decided to give it a try anyways. I had a WONDERFUL experience. I had a 60 minute full body massage (Briana) and a spa pedicure (Gabrielle). Both employees were very friendly and polite. Briana was very attentive and always asked if the pressure was ok. Gabrielle and I talked the entire length of the pedicure. She was very nice and sincere.
Even the front desk staff was welcoming and friendly.
I would recommend this spa and the employees I had. I will most definitely be going back!!

I called to make an appointment with my stylist Miss Rita whom I've been going to for a long time. To my surprise I was told she no longer was doing hair and that she had made a career change...Which I found very hard to believe!!!!!!! I decided to do a little investigating and found her working at a new beautiful salon called STACY & CO SALON AND SPA which is just down the street from hairtage....I cant believe that after being a loyal client of the hairtage for a few years that you would actually LIE about where my stylist had gone.....Is it your normal business practice to be VERY DISHONEST PEOPLE?....You should be ASHAMED of yourselves!!!!!!!!!!!! Not very professional if you ask me!!!!!!!!!

I have been going to Hairtage for several months (Petey does my hair). He does an incredible job and makes me feel like I am the only person on the planet! I also treated myself to the queen for a day package for my birthday and loved the experience, the friendly staff made me forget all of my worries for the time I was there! I would recommend this place to anyone... you'll love it!

Pros: Friendly staff and great lemonade!

Cons: Sometimes hard to get an appointment

.

This place is WAYYYY overrated! "Mastercut, etc." is just a line to make you think you're getting pampered. Front desk Ladies need a long course in manners and respect: I would say app. 90% of employees there would drown if they were out in a heavy rain because their noses are stuck up so far in the air! I would prefer to pay for service with a genuine smile, and employees that actually care about what you desire out of your service, not how much their gratuity will amount to. If you like to "Hob nob" with a bunch of old, musty "Wanna-be Professionals," this is the place you've been looking for!

This was my 2nd time at Hairtage. The first time I got my nails done and she did a good job. I then thought I should get my hair highlighted and cut. That was the biggest mistake I could have made. My hair color was awful, not once did she offer to redo it when I said something. Then I was told there was no refunds. Well how about re doing my hair. They then told me they didn't have time to do it that day. Some of the people that work there act like they didn't even want to be there. For the prices they charge I would think I would have better service. I normally go to Fantastic Sams in town and they do a much better job at a fraction of the cost. They actually talk to you and ask you what you want. Wow I would never suggest this place to anyone. If I had read this first I wouldn't have spent one single penny in this place.

I have been here a few times and the atmosphere feels like you should dress up to get your hair done. The staff are okay if you like stiffness and do not want to engage into conversation. It is a real pain to make an appointment because you have to give them a credit card to reserve your time and if you are unable to make it they will charge you. The stylist I had was alright, seemed a little fake and the reception staff are just there. It is not a place you feel comfy in just a place of business.

This is, by far, the worst salon I have ever encountered! I got a mani/pedi there the day of my wedding, and they did a horrible job! So bad, that when my husband pulled up to get me, even HE noticed how bad it was. Needless to say, we were both VERY angry! Everyone there is rude! From the front desk to the manager. I believe 'bi*ch' would best describe the women that work there!

The latest posted Anonymous "worth it" has the exact same comment word for word on the yahoo reviews of this salon...
The employees are told what to charge. They compete amongst each other for the top spot on the booking list. The booking used to be based on tenure and then switched to how much money an employ brough in the prior pay period. For about 1 month they based the lineup on your retention %, that was good business sense. But, now it is all about the $$$. Since there are no refunds, a bad employee still gets credited for that service and retains their top spot on the booking lineup. So, you have women working together having to compete with less experienced coworkers for the top billing in the spa. I know I worked there for years and left after the owner hired her sister to be the manager.

New to the area, I decided to shout out the few extra bucks for the quality service I was promised. I was definitely not let down.
They really strive to ensure you're taken care of. Where else in Jacksonville are you served something to drink while you wait? Yes, it may seem irrelevant or minimal, but it's the attention to detail that makes this business shine.
I've personally witnessed dissatisfied customers, and the staff and manager do everything possible to fix whatever went wrong. I know they will re-do any service for free.
As far as their policies go..they ask for your credit card number to HOLD the appointment. Nothing is charged to your card unless you are one of those rude people who BLOW OFF those appointments without even having the decency to call. Yes, mistakes happen, but the people who work there are counting on you to be there...otherwise, they are LOSING money due to your negligence. They probably could have fit someone else into your spot had they known you weren't going to show up! Which leads me to my next point..
This place is BUSY BUSY BUSY! (though when you're there, you wouldn't really notice. it's quiet and organized) I can't imagine what the front desk goes through day-to-day. They are trying to satisfy not only the rest of the staff and management, but they're also making sure all appointments are booked correctly and YOU, the customer, are taken care of. With all the chaos that I'M SURE goes on behind the scenes, they're putting on a smile and making sure you have a relaxing and enjoyable experience at Hairtage.
So please...ignore the nasty things people have to say and give HAIRTAGE a chance before you make any judgements.

I've gone to Hairtage several times for the pedicure package. They have these great heated massage chairs that massage your upper body and the manicurist massages your feet and legs. It's very nice. Expensive, but a nice splurge every once in a while. I've been very happy with the manicurists each time.

I would never again get my hair done there however. I tried them one time and the behaviour of two of the hairdressers was so appalling (they were wrestling in the closet where they keep the hair supplies and one ended up dragging the other out of the closet by her feet) that I swore I would not go back. I paid about 150.00 for a cut and color that wasn't that great in a supposed "spa" atmosphere that was more like kindergarten.

I also have to agree with a previous poster that their front desk could use some work in the friendliness/greeting department. And I'm not pleased with their new policy of taking your credit card number when you make the appointments. Everyone has emergencies that happen and I don't think their policy is fair. Obviously they have had a lot of cancellations happen but it's a salon and they should be able to handle that.

Manicure, pedicure, yes but hair, no way.

Complaint No 1, being of several.

It is required to pay in advance to reserve an appointment. I observed that apparently it is standard protocol there to ask if "gratuities" be included at that time. Not only did I find it tacky to ask for a tip, but a tip before anything was ever done! I'm supposed to tip even if things prove after the fact to be dissatisfactory?

Complaint No. 2.

Prior to the appointment and also while setting up the appointment in the salon, I was quoted a price (give or take perhaps 20.00 or so, I figured) to have hair services rendered. I found that estimate livable. One of several factors that encouraged me to choose Hairtage Salon.
I was told to expect a consult at the time of the appointment. My expectations of the consult included, perhaps, information as to types of products used, technique comparisons, color choices, hair style preferences, maintenance. And price.
Three hours after completion, ready to pay and exit, My bill.... $55.00 in excess of what I was quoted. A whopping total $145.00 for a cut, blow, color, foil and whatever else they added that I was not made aware of.

Complaint No 3.

At no time during my official consult were any prices concerning different techniques discussed. I found the whole consult to be weak. Pretty scary, that was a good time to build trust and assurance with the client. I missed out. Unsure in the whole process. What do I know? This was my first time with a procedure like this and a new hairdresser. You would think I would be given the opportunity to participate and have knowledge of complete techniques that would reflect my price to pay in the end. Mind you, I'm thinking all this has already been payed in full. No need, at least, for price concerns.

Which leads me to Complaint No 4.

Not only did they want more money in excess what I was quoted, they asked "Will gratuities be added?" Again! Sheeze! Pardon me but I think someone has already figured in gratuities reflective in the already nothing mentioned price difference.

No. 5.

After my rude awakening to the price truth, No written, detailed invoice or valid explanation of the difference in prices were handed out or explained to me. I heard something like this... "Well, she did a foil and added some extra stuff." I'm sorry, but I just think that is very arrogant to charge in addition to and void of receipt.

6.

The cut wasn't all that. I had to go back the next day my bangs were all jacked up, I don't style my hair under and I told her that, what did she do???

7.

It's funny, if you visit their website www.hairtage.com. They have a whole page dedicated to their policies. Basically what they need and expect from you the consumer. I could not find anywhere where it said what they do in case of service dissatissfaction. It does state in the salon. NO REFUNDS.

8.

Three days ago I sent this complaint letter to Hairtage. As of yet, I've not recieved a reply. At best , being "all that" they proclaim to be,honestly, don't you think good customer service would minimumly include a reply? An apology, recompse for dissatisfaction? Hum. Good news is, there is a hair salon on every corner and I don't have to go back. As if I would.

I went to the spa before Christmas. the massage was wonderful, but I feel they need to redo their front help...I felt I was in a teenage shop, and when I got to the counter, they didn't even bother to look up at me...or say I'll be with you in moment...When you spend this kind of money on a package deal, you expect the best treatment in all areas, not only just the massage (Joanna was great)..

My husband and I have always had good experiences with their massages and pedicures. I have only gone once for a haircut there and will not get another one. I paid for an "expert" stylist, the stylist was only 20 years old... and an "expert". I went ahead with the hair cut, I felt I was probably wrong and I just needed to give her a chance. My haircut was fine, but that was it fine. The expert stylist gave me a generic cut and did not even pretend to tell me how to do it. I like for my stylist to tell me how to do my hair at home and different ways to wear it, tell me which products I need to use to achieve the look. The woman cut my hair and sent me on my way. No communication and yes I did try.

they have a great skill to damage your hair. they melt my pretty hair and never apologize! the worst hair cut , color and staff and of course the owner too. i mean total worst package. they even lie that they will fix it one week later which they were never going to. they said 'go to another salon'. i dont even want to give them one star.
if you love your hair, dont even think to go there.

I did not enjoy my experience at Hairtage Salon & Day Spa. I felt like it was trying to be an upperclass place, while having some not so professional qualities. I was upset that it took so long for me to be able to leave - when trying to check out it took about a half an hour. There was one nice blonde gal there, but that was about it. I feel very strongly that this establishment is overrated. I have friends around town that feel the same way.

PROS:
CONS: Too expensive for the quality of services.

Hairtage is just beautiful inside. The staff is always courteous and helpful. I have had pedicures, massages, waxes and several haircutts and colors at Hairtage. I have never been dissappointed. A luxurious place to be pampered~

I visit Jacksonville/Camp Lejeune often. If I'm there more than a couple days, I always visit the Hairtage Day Spa. The staff excels at customer service. They have pampering down to an art form. Their masseuse is second to none. Prices are in line with others in the state.

PROS: Pampering taken to an art form
CONS: None

I had a massage done here and it was fantastic! The workers are very nice too. Although it is expensive, you feel like a queen being pampered there. It smells great and the building is beautiful. Parking can be a problem if they are busy, and they stay open a little later than most which helps a great deal if you work.

I had a spa package that included a swedish massage, manicure and pedicure. The massage was outstanding, very relaxing and felt great. The people were very friendly and helpful. Worth the money spent.
