Out of the places in Wilson, NC that serve seafood I will say that Mayflower stands out far more than Silver Lake and Worrell's Seafood. The difference in the three is Mayflower gives you more for your money and the food is better along with the service.I purchased the same at all three establishments and found that the quality of the food was better and I still had alot left over. The price was not out of the range of a large combination of 2 and they also have daily specials. You can have your food battered in regular seafood breader or in a salt and pepper batter. I tried both and found that it was better with the latter ( that is if you have a taste of old fashioned fried seafood.) The food was not to greasy and is fresh tasting, unlike the others. Your food is served on plates instead of styrofoam (Worrell's Seafood). As for the service, at least they are alot friendlier and talk to you. They make you feel welcomed and some even joke with you which makes the dining experience enjoyable. As for the it being clean and the smell of the place, it beats the others by far. Worrell's smelled so bad when I entered the building that I became nauseated. There was no way you could enter into the building to avoid it. The staff was not friendly and they looked like they did not care about their appearances of the wait staff. The management even treated some of the customers at the front rudely when it came to a dispute about the food. To me that is not the way it should have been handled. The food was way to greasy and you had to eat and drink out of a styrofoam plate while dining in the main dining room. I was even charged 25 cents for water. I could not even take my own drink in during a previous visit in the past. As for Silver Lake, it came in pretty close to Worrell's. You did not eat out of styrofoam at least, but as far as the prices and the staff it was expensive and they were not even approachable. My opinion is if you want your moneys worth while dining at a place where you feel welcomed and don't have to encounter horrific smells and attitudes, Mayflower Seafood of Wilson is the place to go for it all.

I have never taken time to do this, but this restaurant deserves accolades.
They have well prepared, broiled seafood which is difficult to find at this type of family, hometown restaurant.
There is no "dating" atmosphere, but what they lack in romance, they make up in friendliness and fairly good service.
We live in Walstonburg, so Greenville, Goldsboro and Wilson are all within a reasonable driving distance of us. But, when we think of seafood, we head directly to the Mayflower.
Thanks for being in Wilson. Hope for continued success.

Pros: Good broiled seafood

Cons: atmosphere

The seafood is a little heavy on the oil and plenty on the plate. The thing I do like is.... there's several ways the food can be cooked.

Boiled, broiled, steamed, and baked are also ways meals can be prepared. So, for myself, grease isn't an option when I can eat good and healty.

Remember....steaks, chicken, pasta, and salads are on the menu.
Next time you,re in the mood for some seafood, try it without the grease. It's up to you. Invite friends or family. The staff service is good. Smiling faces is what you will see. Just what Wilson County needs.

If you like your seafood "cheesy" then this is the resteraunt for you. They re-use the grease lord know how many times, so the seafood is heavy and makes you feel sick. They do give you lots, but can afford to do so because it is not high quality food. Don't waste your money. Try Holt's lake in smithfield.
