my car started act up, I had recieved a flyer from ENGINE TECH WORLD with several discounts and I wanted to try it. I arrived there and a gentleman immediately came to my rescue. He then called one of the mechanics who took my car to look in to it. I waited less than 15 minutes before they could come back to me with a responce. My car now needed some major work done. Of course, being a female my first thought was that perhaps "they are trying to take advante of me", I later took my car to another mechanic in town who told me the same thing but with higher prices. I returned to ENGINE TECH WORLD and asked them to please fix my car. I was told that my car was going to be ready by the next day wich happened to be a saturday. When I arrived to pick up my car on saturday, owner offered me coffee. My friend and I we're shocked at this experience. Never had I imagined this type of costumer care. My car was then ready and we took it to a test drive before I payed anything. Once I was satisfied with the repairs and I had to pay I reminded him of the discounts on the flyer and he kindly honor it. I highly recomend ENGINE TECH WORLD to anyone with engine problems. Quality of work is amazing and costumer care like no other I have experienced. I am sure that it is now under new management since the last reviews because my experience was not a bad one.

Pros: excelent work performance

My engine seemed to be losing power, so I though I had an oil leak or something. I took it to ETW and a few other places to get a reason for the problem and cost. ETW explained to me that the head gasket had blown and caused damage. They gave me the option to get a used engine for a little more than other shops were charging for a rebuild. My car is running great and would recommend them.

my wife went to this awful place threemonths ago to haev a simpl engine problem fixed. they quoted me at 550. we said ok and told them to fix it. the next day when i went ot get my car the bill had skyrocketed to 1340! Needless to say my wife, who went to get eh car, was furious! she told them she was not going to pay such and exorbitant ammount. she called the cops and they instantly changed their tone and the price dropped to the 550 again. not sure of the quality of the work. we took it to our dealer who then told us that they couldnt find any trace of work having been done to our auto! we then went back with that report to the store who tried to intimidate us with force. we called the cops again and took them to ocurt. we sued for about 3250 for false charges and the actual detriment that our car suffered as a result of their not fixing our car!

never ever ever use this awful awful service!

The engine in my Toyota started to go out. Due to time and price constraints I decided to use Engine Tech World (ETW) in Charlotte, NC.

After further discussion with ETW I discovered that there were going to be some additional cost for things such as a new timing belt, water pump gasket, etc that were not included with the original quoted price. This is the day after they supplied the quote and the day I decided to discuss details. With a sigh, I told them to go ahead and tack on the extra several hundred dollars to price tag.

I started to get that gut feeling that I may have made a bad descion. I checked the Better Buisness Bureau and discovered that ETW had 13 complaints outstanding within the past 18 months. I had made a mistake.

When I got the car back home, I discovered that there was a considerable amount of oil leaking. I took the car back to ETW and they had to replace the rear main seal. After getting the car back the second time I noticed a funny noise from the engine. I didn't feel like taking it back right then for something was possibly just trivial. After taking it back for the 1000 mile check up ETW claimed I was just hearing things.

To make a long story short, I have accepted my mistake and have decided that I will not allow ETW to touch my car again even though i could have possibly saved some money arguing with ETW regarding what may or may not be warranty issues. So all of the following have been addressed by my local Toyota dealer.

Replaced spark plugs (Toyota said they looked like original plugs), ETW did not bother to replace them.
Replaced valve cover gaskets. (Funny noise i heard)
The dealer rerouted my 4wd differential lock cable that had been routed the wrong way and was not reconnected by ETW

Total additional cost = ~$700

When you include the time and trouble i've gone through, it would have been cheaper to just allow the dealer to do the job properly in the first place.
