I want to talk with you about a matter that is important to the students you serve. My goal today is not to draw conclusions for you, but to simply provide you with the tools to draw your own conclusions. I firmly believe that the facts speak for themselves.
I could talk with you for literally thousands of pages about the experiences of specific former and current NML agents. For the sake of brevity, I simply wish to highlight some areas that you absolutely must make your students aware of and point you to people who can help you learn more about NML.
NML is correct when they tell you that there are some very successful agents in their organization. This statement alone though belies the larger picture. Many of the "successful" agents have sales practices that are questionable. Some are very questionable (and are currently targets of an investigation by the National Association of Securities Dealers and Securities and Exchange Commission). Most agents who run an honorable and ethical practice struggle to survive. NML and the General Agents are forcing many of these out of the business.
Give students access to information. Make sure your students know how to find Google nmlcomplaints. Encourage them to call. There are literally hundreds (sample list) of us who would be more than happy to talk one-to-one with you or your students. I have attached a list of people who would be willing to share their experiences with NML.
Like many things in life, I approach this issue with certain uneasiness. This October will mark my 5th year as a Financial Advisor. This is what I was meant to do. I have felt a calling to this business in the same way friends have described a calling to the Ministry. I could not be happier. That is now. I do not share those feelings for the time I spent at NML. For two years I thought it was "just me." Then I found out there were hundreds more who thought it was "just them."

THIS IS NOT FINANCIAL PLANNING THIS IS RIPPING PEOPLE OFF TO GET AN INSURANCE COMMISION. I WORKED AT THIS AGENCY FOR 2 YEARS OF MY LIFE AND I AM WORSE OFF BECAUSE OF IT. THESE GUYS WILL LIE, CHEAT AND STEAL TO GET YOU TO WORK HERE AND MY ADVICE IS TO RUN THE OTHER WAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN. AS FAR AS BUYING INSURANCE, NML IS ONE OF THE MOST OVER PRICED IN THE MARKET. THEY WILL TELL YOU THAT IT RETURNS 7 TO 8 % BUT THAT IS BEFORE EXPENSES AND CHARGES. IT NETS OUT TO ABOUT 3 TO 4%. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ELSE WITH YOUR MONEY.

Cons: WORRELL AGENCY IN CHARLOTTE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN! DONT WORK HERE! YOU WILL REGRET IT FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.
