My daughter lived there during the 2011-2012 school year and the summer. I won't go into details of her whole year, but I do want to put in a good word for the property manager, Melissa Cholak, who was there on move in day to get us though

My daughter rented from Centennial Village during the last school year. She was forced to pay rent for the entire month of August despite the fact that the room was not ready for occupancy until August 14, 2010. When we arrived with her belongings on the agreed upon date of 8/13 the apartment was torn apart with cabinets dismantled, carpet being installed, filthy grout and calk in the bathroom, as well as many repairs needing completion. Further, it was never painted. She was told to find accommodation elsewhere for the evening.

At the end of the contract my daughter cleaned the apartment and though her new apartment in another city was not available until June 1, she was forced to vacate May 30th. That was very unfair in my opinion. One week and after others had been in the apartment a walk through was conducted. More than one month later she was notified that she was being charged several "damage fees" for things such as a slightly bent towel bar and incomplete cleaning of a bathroom which was FAR cleaner than the day she moved in. This walk through should have occurred with my daughter present.

The office was contacted and the assistant manager had a very rude attitude on the phone with and told us we had to speak to the manager. Over the next few weeks my daughter's mother left several phone messages and multiple emails seeking to speak with the manager. NONE of these were returned.

Now the fees have been turned over to a collection agency. When I called today in an effort to once again speak with the manager I got voice mail and left a message asking for a return call. Shortly thereafter the collection agency called me and informed me that the Centennial Village office had received my message but would not communicate with me and that all communication had to go through the collection agency.

In essence we have no recourse but to pay, no way to dispute the charge, no one at Centennial Village willing to communicate with us in an appropriate and professional manner.
