My wife and I quickly discovered Vinnie's when we moved to Raleigh in 1992.

Many fantastic restaurants have populated the Triangle since then, several of which we also enjoy very much, but Vinnie's remains our hands-down favorite place

the service was bad.and the manager demanded me give a tip.i said it is not a law to give tips.and i am not going to do it. bad service.and the manager she yelled at me. the young male waiter brought me my order wrong.he not volunteer to correct it. told him he knows it is wrong and i am not going to tell him to do his job.and told him i am not an employee. he got angry at me and brought me the order wrong again. i said you brought the wrong order again. he said i am required to eat the order the next time he brings the food. told him not and told him to do job. the table guests and my self left .after he went into the kitchen.we were tired of him.and he was not nice. the female waitresses are not nice also.they ask tables to give them tips, need money. rush to get rid of female tables, talk back rude, interrupt customers while talking to them, try to start fights, walk away while customers at femalel are talking to them. the table had to ask them to come back and finish job.not come to table volunteer to see if customers need something, bring wrong order to table and not want to correct it,not volunteer to check on order when slow service. the female customers tend to spend more time talking to male co-workers and male customers .than attention to female tables.though shrimp was brought to tables frozen.give bill and not say anything and not come back.run away.

We went there for the first time on my birthday. We originally had wanted to go to Angus Barn as we have never been and have heard great things. However, they were booked up a week in advance so I looked for other nice steakhouses in

My wife and I recently had the opportunity to dine at Vinnie's for our anniversary. I decided on Vinnie??s for the "Best Place for Special Occasions" award it received from Metro Bravo magazine. I am so surprised that I haven't heard more about this hidden gem in North Raleigh! We were more than impressed. We were seated immediately at a table that had already been reserved for us, per our reservation. It was an incredibly quiet table by a fireplace and my wife assumed that I had requested something romantic for her! (Thanks management) Our incredibly friendly and knowledgeable waitress then informed us that there was a three course wine tasting flight being offered that evening, as it was a Wednesday. Each course was expertly prepared and the wine pairings were perfect! Each course was described in detail as it was being delivered and our waitress new EVERYTHING about the wines... the vintage, viticultural area, and varietal compositions! We felt like we were the only diners in the restaurant and that the meal had been prepared specifically for us. The blue point oysters that began our dinner were delicious, and each course of our meal was mouthwatering. Our favorite dish was the second course; a duck confit and gorgonzola ravioli that was served over butter-melted leeks! If our meal was this amazing with dishes that are original each week, I can't wait to try the steaks that they are known for! We recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an incredible dining experience.

It has been some time since I last went to Vinnie's. More often than not when I am out for steaks I find my way to the Angus Barn. But I had a client in from out of town that was staying nearby so I decided to head back to Vinnie's. My mistake for being gone so long. I must have forgotten how great the food is here. Our server convinced us to have the Dry Aged Ribeye. This is possibly the best steak I have EVER had. At the very least it is the best steak I have had in quite some time. Prepared perfectly. The sides were not so large that my client and I could only split one which was a nice change from most other steakhouses that only have massive sides large enough for four people. Great atmosphere with an excellent wine list. I will definitely be back.

Vinnie's is a smaller, more intimate restaurant. The steaks and seafood are all amazing. Service has always been top notch. This is one of our favorite special occasion restaurants.

While visiting friends, they recomended Vinnies and we were not disappointed. The steaks were cooked to perfection. The asparagus was wonderfully fresh. I can't say enough. We had a wonderful waitress. I think her name was Anna. The wine she recomended was a perfect match to our dinner. Her service was outstanding. When in Raleigh again, we will surely be back to Vinnies.

We entered Vinnie's one Saturday evening not knowing what to expect. My husband and I have known of it's location off of Six Forks for sometime and we felt we owed ourselves after a hard day of remodeling the house. We were greeted by a sweet young hostess who sat us immediately without a reservation. I think we came in at the right time because the place was packed!! Our server, Carlie (I think), came right up to our table and in a very elegant voice, asked us if we would like to start the evening with a glass a wine, cocktail or cold beer. My husband got a few beers (of course), and I had drank the Sonoma Cutrer Chardonnay, which Carlie recommended when I mentioned I liked chards. After giving us a moment to get settled and letting us have a few sips of our drinks, Carlie came back and mentioned that every Friday and Saturday, Vinnie's has PRIME RIB! WE LOVE PRIME RIB! Both my husband and I ordered it. Him the larger cut and I the smaller cut. It was perfect!!!! Both of us got it Medium Rare!!!!!!! Because the server seem to know what she was doing, we took her advice on choosing our sides and we're glad she did. Vinnie's was featuring a Homemade Gruyere Mac and Cheese. THE BEST MAC N CHZ I've ever had, hands down! The end of the night was topped off with a Godiva Chocolate Cake and two Cappuccinos. We're not much of a Cappuccino crowd but our server mentioned they had recently acquired a new Capp Machine and that you're not gonna get a better Italian Style Cappuccino in any other fine dining Restuarant in Raleigh. We are not the type of people to leave reviews online but my husband and I were just blown away!!! My napkin was folded when I came back from the restroom, the manager came by while eating our entrees and greeted us with a very warm smile and it seemed that everyone was enjoying themselves, customers and staff! I could go on about all the little things that impressed me but then this review would be pages long. Thank you Vinnie's!

Last weekend was my first experience at Vinnie's. As soon as I walked through the door I was greeted with friendly smile and a warm "hello."
When our server came to our table, I was excited about all the Dinner features including: Prime Rib, Surf and Turf and a Veal Chop. I decided to go all out and and order their 32oz Rib-eye! Their wine menu was diverse and the server was extremely knowledgeable of wines and made a great recommendation!
The food was amazing, the service was awesome, and overall was well worth the price. We had an eventful night that I will never forget. I highly recommend eating at this restaurant and will definitely return!

Vinnie's staff and service are second to none anywhere. I have traveled the world nad have yet to find a better combination of great food, wine and atmosphere. No better steak anywhere, unless you are from Argentina.

How could you go wrong when planning a wonderful dining experience to celebrate your anniversary? I'd have to say choosing Vinnie's is the worst mistake we've ever made. First of all, my choice of steak has always been a ribeye. I thought seriously about ordering the 'Cowboy' (32 oz bone-in ribeye for $50) but the waiter insisted the best ribeye was the 20 oz prime aged Delmonico (also $50). I went with the waiters recommendation and ordered the steak 'medium'. The meal was brought out and to nmy dismay, I received a charred 'NY Strip' not the ribeye I ordered. The waiter apoligized and said he made a ordering mistake and that it would take 25 minutes to cook the steak I originally ordered. By the time I received my steak, my wife had completed her entire meal. I had to literally saw through the steak as the outside was charred. The only area of steak remotely close to medium was the very center. Not only was the steak charred, it was the worst ribeye I have ever tasted (outside charred, no flavor, no marbling and probably not an aged Delmonico ribeye). When you pay top $$$ for a steak it should be cooked close to perfection and it should not require seasoning. To top things off, the Manager (Will) had an attitude and tried to say there was nothing wrong with neither of the two steaks (the first of which I did not order to begin with). As a courtesy, he should have comped my wife's meal but said he would only give us a free dessert (remember I never got a meal). Needless to say, this is the first and last time my wife and I will ever eat at this restaurant. We highly recommend that you avoid this yourself.

We decided last minute to find an elegant place for dinner. Vinnie's was our first choice because of it's convenient location in North Raleigh. Vinnie's was very busy but the hostess ensured us there was room. After we were promptly seated, a handsome young gentleman buy the name of Constantine flawlessly spoke to us of the night's features and his recommendations. We both had the surf and turf, which was out of this world, and complemented the meal with a bottle of red wine. We had to skip dessert because we were so full and just sat back and soaked in charming atmosphere.

Highly recommended! A+++++++

Thank you VINNIES STEAKHOUSE & TAVERN

I had the chance to dine at Vinnie's when I was moving into the area. The staff was great--everyone was very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. We started with the calamari, then my mother and I split a steak oscar while my father had a prime new york strip, and we finished the night off with a creme brulee. The only thing I could have asked for differently was my own steak instead of splitting one! I would recommend Vinnie's to anyone looking for a great dining experience and a delicious meal.

My husband and I are always trying different locally owned restaurants. Our newest "find" is Vinnie's Steak House. We had a wonderful experience from the moment we walked through the door. The staff greated us as if we were regulars who had been coming for years. Our waiter took the time to tell us the evening specials and offered some great wine choices. My husband ordered the prime new york strip. He said it was cooked to a perfect medium rare. I ordered the steak oscar which was amazing and certainly not lacking in the crab meat department! We each ordered a broiled lobster tail with our meal. A better decision could not have been made. Each of our lobster tails were succulent.

We are already planning our next evening out at Vinnie's!

I have heard about Vinnie's from many of my colleagues and decided to take my wife for our anniversary. We started out our evening at the bar for a few martinis, which our bartender Steve made to perfection. He was extremely entertaining, and it was obvious that he has many regulars who appreciate his cocktails and wonderful service. When we were ready, we opted for the outside seating. Even though it was a chilly night, they have heaters outside, which made for a cozy, romantic dinner. Our server, Jeap, was such a pleasure. Not only did he give us wonderful recommendations, he was very educated and passionate about the wine and food. The appetizers were outstanding! I highly recommend the sesame crusted Ahi tuna. The steak selection was exactly what I would look for in a steak house. I chose my server's recommendation, the bone in filet, and it was the best steak I have tasted. My wife was in the mood for Italian and she chose the Chicken Picatta. Phenomenal! Jeap informed us that Vinnie's regularly has featured soups, entrees, and sides, and we chose the fresh green bean casserole. I have never had a tastier green bean casserole in my life! After we finished our meal, Jeap surprised us with a lovely creme brulee with fresh berries for our anniversary. They obviously communicate well amongst the staff, because we never even told our server that we were celebrating. The quality of the food and friendliness of the staff has made my wife and I new regulars at this wonderful establishment.

We visited Vinnie's Steakhouse for the first time tonight to celebrate our anniversary. It was one of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time. The staff were all very friendly. Our server was great - very professional, prompt and friendly.
My husband ordered the Prime Rib special. He's very fussy about his Prime Rib - likes the end cut, but it has to be medium - not too well done. He explained this to our server (Ed?) and it arrived just the way he likes it. I had the Veal Parmigiana. It was excellent. Large portions, cooked to perfection with lots of mozzarella cheese! We both had the Caesar Salad and my husband had a baked potato - all very good.
The food all came promptly, everything was hot! My husband had the Pecan pie for dessert I had the Key Lime - both delicious. We will definitely be back again and we may even make it an Anniversary tradition! (After all, the dessert was complimentary because we happened to mention our anniversary. )
Also, the bill came in under $100 - pretty good for the wonderful experience and the amount of food we got - had to take half of my dinner home. I would highly recommend Vinnie's to anyone who has not yet been there.

Thank you for allowing me to respond. We dined at Vinnie's on Feb 26, 2008, made reservations for 7 and seated at 7....due to heavy cigar smokers, they kept opening the door for ventilation and it was raining and cold and we both got very cold and they never once asked if we would like to be reseated, in fact set us in an "out of the way table". We waited for quite a while before the server came by and did not greet us and was certainly very unfriendly. The food was very bad, it may have been the worst calamari have ever eaten. The broccoli was like eating shoe leather and the steak poor (petite Delmonico)..........I can assure you we will never set foot in this place and will certainly not recommend it to anyone. I paid the bill and even left the server a very nice gratutiy.

Over the last few years I have heard a lot of good things about Vinnies Steakhouse and Tavern. I and a friend decieded to give them a try.
This is our experience.

We walked into a room with the smell of cigarette and cigar smoke filling the air. Thankfully we were seated quickly.
The wine list was extensive...as long as you are into Napa Valley wines only. There was very little beyond that.
The starter we ordered was the calimari . The waitress assured us it was very very good. We found it to be alright. a little to much breading and not very much flavor. We then orderd their spinach and bacon salad. Truly a disapointment! Spinach on a plate wtih two strips of bacon on the side. The dressing did nothing to compliment the salad at all. We picked at it but could not bring ourselves to eat it.
The entrees we ordered were steaks, something we thought they would do well. I was very disapointed, again not bad or horrible just ok. I ordered the broccoli as a side and some mushrooms. The broccoli was mushy and the mushrooms were very hard. My partner had the twice backed potato, which he said was extremely tasteless.
We ordered the Key Lime pie for Dessert and it was....again ok.
I think I will skip Vinnies next time I am in the mood for a steak dinner. I am so surprised this places is rated so highly when there are so many other truly great restaurants in this area.

Pros: The atmosphere is very nice

Cons: Smoke at the bar is offensive as one has to pass through it

You want the best, this is the place. I have been to Mortons, Ruths Chriss, Angus Barn, Palms, S&W NY, Sparks multiple times and none of them compare to the Steaks that Vinnies have. Well only one Charlys Steakhous in Tampa, but a tie for 1st. Anyone that knows anything about steaks will agree. If your cheap like the other complainers, theres always a outback :)

Vinnies Steakhouse brings me back to the good old days back home in New York with a warm and comfortable feel! The staff is friendly and assertive. Myself and a lady friend of mine decided to dine at Vinnies for our first time and had a great experience. I ordered the steak and lobster special not only was the steak cooked better than I could have expected but it also was the most tender cut of meet I have ever had then on the other hand I don't know what kind of lobster tails they are serving but it was hands down the best tail in the triangle. My lady friend had the Tuna entree which was by far the best Tuna I have had outside of being at the beach. Vinnies has everything you could ever want out of a high dollar restaurant. I would reccomend it to anyone looking for great service and great food. In my eyes hands down the best food and service in the triangle. I will become a regular customer. They also have a great wine list and a very attentive management team. I had two different managers walk by and ask about our meal. I feel like everyone in this restaurant is almost like family.

Pros: great food/service/ambience

Cons: not enough room in my stomach

We went for the steak but noticed everyone around us was ordering Italian. THe steaks were way overpriced. This is a nice neighborhood hangout. And probably good for their lower end items. I wouldn't recommend it for the higher end items. The atmosphere, service, and food quality don't merit the prices.

This place is one of a kind! You can't get great food, friendly service, and elegant dining in such a fun atmosphere anywhere else. It is impossible to describe. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and you can tell that the place is like one big family. The food is great, have not had one bad thing. As an app, I recommend shrimp cocktail. But no matter what you order you can't go wrong. The wine list is like a book, accomodating everyone tastes. I do, however, recommend making reservations because there are times i've been in there when they are big parties in all of the back rooms and have limited seating. And around the holidays they seem to be kind of busy so calling ahead would definately be a good idea.

I ordered the 38 ounce Porterhouse and just before I was about to be served, I was informed that they didn't even have it... could they bring me the New York Strip they had cooked in it's place instead!!!! My wife ordered Eggplant Parmesan..... I wouldn't serve this to a starving dog. Apparently, the management at Vinnie's thinks they can just get away with serving average food at ridiculous prices, because that's exactly what they are doing. How dumb do they think we are? $58 dollars for a plain steak with no salad or starch? When the manager finally stopped hitting on his own hostess and came by our table to ask how our meal was, he acted as crass as could be, insinuating that we were naive to the "wonderful" dining experience he was providing, and offered nothing in return for serving 2 mishaps as excuses for entrees. If you are looking for a genuine dining experience at less than ridiculous prices, look elsewhere... you might just find accurate vintages on a wine list and a General Manager who is concerned about the loins in the kitchen instead of those on the hostess!

Pros: You will smell like a cigar when you leave

Cons: Food, Atmosphere, & Management

I went to Vinnie's for the first time in years, and I enjoyed it. I especially like the atmosphere and the "neighborhood" feel. For the apetizer, we had Steamed Big thick oysters with cocktail sauce, horseradish, texas Pete, and Tobasco Sauce.

The Steak I had was an on the bone thick cut. It was cooked perfectly. Everything at Vinnies is ordered "a la carte", so it tends to become fairly expensive. But who wants a steak without a salad and baked or stuffed potatoe. The winelist is impressive, but there again, your credit card can get declined if you aren't careful.

Overall I would rate Vinnie's as one of the best steakhouses in Raleigh. Whether it stacks up with the Angus Barn and the like depends on the night, I suppose, but I think Vinnie's is probably a safe bet for a good meal and an entertaining evening.

Vinnies has a great revamped menu and a wonderful friendly staff! From the hostess to the managers, there is a smile on every face! The food is cooked perfectly, presented with class and delivered by knowledgable staff that really make the meal enjoyable. I love the ahi tuna, and the ever famous oscar style steak. Last time I was there they had added new wines, steaks and seafoods to the menu that are not items you would find in many other Raleigh resteraunts. The familiar faces, and the at home feeling really sets the place apart from other venues in Raleigh, I would go no where else with my parties, loved ones or guests of honor because Vinnie's can- do attitude takes the cake!

We just ate here last week for the first time in a while. The steak oscar was fabulous and I highly recommend it. Great atmosphere... Be sure to try the cottage fries, they're great too.

We have been going to Vinnie's fairly regularly for about 2 1/2 years. The owner, manager, and bartender know us now, and are always welcoming. A newer manager and hostess greeted us the minute we walked in and seated us promptly after we had a cocktail at the bar. The calimari is incredible- light, almost tempura batter, always served hot. Tonight was the very best filet mignon I have ever had, and I have had quite a few! Melt in your mouth tender, perfect MR, just the best. My husband had a great Prime rib, also MR. Great au jus and horseradish sauce. The waitress, Allie, was wonderful, food was all served at correct time, and everyone is friendly. The prices are in linewith any good steak house, chain or otherwise. I think it is better, steak wise, than another well known Raleigh steak house.

We were there New Years Eve night for dinner. Service from the waitress was well below average ... she'd be average at Applebee's. "Manager" was not polite to us regarding a constant clicking noise coming from the wall. Steak/food was good. There was no live entertainment while we were there.

I went to Vinnie's for the first time tonight after having it suggested to me over 5 years ago. The food was excellent: the steak was perfect, the oysters Rockefeller were wonderful and the seared tuna was to die for. My only disappointment was the hollandaise sauce. It was more like a butter sauce, perhaps from a mix. At a restaurant of this caliber I expect the hollandaise to be well made. I wouldn't waste my money on the 'Oscar'. Otherwise it was an excellent meal. It was a Friday night and we didn't have a reservation but were still seated promtly.

For starters, the manager wanted to argue with me about a typo on the wine list. There was a $13 descrepancy in the customers favor. Big deal, serve me, fix the problem and move on. Well he did. He charged me the original price, deducted the $13 and then stuck it to me with extra charges elsewhere. We ordered from the full column, which included a salad and a side, but were charged for the ala carte. They even over charged us on the ala carte. Not to mention that I had just spent over $600 on dinner with customers two weeks earlier. It's not the $20 that they worked me over for, it's the principle. I'll choose to spend my money elsewhere in the future. If you are not a regular, don't expect too much attention, but you still have to pay for the $250 meal.

First time at Vinnies, and it was the most amazing experience since our wedding night dinner, last February, in a private room at Harrahs casino at Lake Tahoe. Coincidentally, last night was our first date since Feb, our wedding. The first day of our honeymoon, I landed wrong and tore my knee up. Since February, my excitement has been PT visits and visits with my MD. I haven't had any fun, until this weekend. The staff was amazing! I think her name was Elaine, she said they are a "yes" kitchen. Anything we would want, they could make happen.
The FOOD was fantastic! WOW! The music started, excpecting it to be a cd, I turned around and Carmine was singing Frank Sinatra/michael buble . He was the coolest. WE will be back ! Thank you

The most consistent well done steaks I have ever had. The Filet Mignon is great especially with a SOuth African lobster tail. The lobster is not overcooked an excellent. Any of the steaks that are Oscar'd are also exceptional.

A friend referred me to this place. My wife and I just moved in the area and love to eat at romantic places. My steak was pretty good but we didn't like the surroundings, and I felt we didn't get the attention we deserved. We won't come back until there are changes made.

Vinnie's is the best hometown restaurant in the triangle. The menu has changed slightly, but what they removed I wouldn't eat anyway. I understand that they are under new ownership that are committed to making Vinnie's what it was back in the old days. If you haven't been to Vinnie's or you haven't given it a second chance you are missing out.

After enjoying Vinnie's for a number of years we chose to dine there this past weekend. The menu had changed, the food quality not what we remember and the service poor. It was a wonderful place to eat and we are truly saddened that there were changes made to what was once a very successful business. We were there for 2 and a half hours and there weren't a dozen customers on a Saturday night. Looks like others feel the same way.

If you are choosing Vinnie's as #1 you have not eaten at Sullivan's. Vinnies Steaks are bland and don't have a good tast. If you have a taste for a great steak Try Sullivan's filet. You will not be sorry. Vinnie's is ok but not #1

At Vinnie's you may get whacked unless you're carrying a fully loaded wallet and a million dollar smile. This is not the place to go unless you are truly into the see and be seen kinda thing. The steaks are no better than Lone Star Steak House, the service is truly terrible, and the wait for a mediocre meal is extremely long. Do yourself a favor for upscale dining and try another place.
