We got there early to eat lunch before the line formed at 12. I had the veggie plate and chose the fried green tomatoes, coleslaw, sweet potato fries and mashed potatoes. The fried green tomatoes had to be blotted by a napkin, they had so much extra grease on it, but after that, were very tasty. The batter was a bit different, very thick and hard but the seasoning was good. The coleslaw had relish in it and a pickled flavor that I didn't care for, but the sweet potato fries were good. As were the biscuits, hushpuppies and sweet potato fries. I guess it just depends on what you order. Our waitress was a very nice and competent girl that went out of her way to make sure the service was great. I would go back but try some other items.

Pros: nice waitress, good sweet tea, good biscuits

Cons: greasy fried food, weird coleslaw

The first time I ate here it was for breakfast with a friend. The biscuits were good and other food was mediocre. The service was very slow, even though it was not very busy.

The second time I ate here was with a group of 9. We were not able to eat together because they refused to move any chairs citing "fire code issues". The two tables we used were on the side wall in a corner, far from any fire exits or exit paths.

I ordered the roast beef, lima beans, and mashed potatoes. The meal looked and tasted like a cheap microwave meal. It was extremely salty. I love peach cobbler, but was unable to eat the peach cobbler--it had a jerky-like texture. No one else ate their desserts either.

Two people in our group ended up with food poisoning.

Skip the restaurant and go straight to the farmer's market. You are better off eating the delicious bakery items, candy, and sampling the fruits and veggies.

Pros: Across the street from the Farmers' Market

Cons: Quality of food, inability to accommodate groups.

Waited for over an hour for food - had to flag down a different waitress to ask for drinks and biscuits - no one ever apologized and then argued when we said we did not want to pay for food my wife did not eat and that they threw away (she had to leave with our 18 mo. old daughter). The cashier said "you have the find the manager with the bun and talk to her, don't talk to me about it, I am just part time help". Classy.

We were told our waitress "walked out" and had to re-order our food from a different person and then our waitress re-appeared.

Owner got involved and was nasty to my wife.

We will NEVER go there ever again and urge you not to frequent a place that places so little value on the customer.

If you're going to be at the Farmers Market, you need to plan the trip around lunch at the Seafood restaurant. But if you are going frequently, you need to join Weight Watchers, too! Fried is the name of the game, and the results are delicious. My personal favorite is fried clams, but everything is great!

Whenever we want to eat fish in Raleigh, we always go to the NC Seafood Restaurant at the Farmer's Market. You can get broiled fish, but most people seem to get the fried platters. My husband and I usually split a 2 way combination and have enough food to both be stuffed. They have chowder, sweet tea, lemon pie, etc. The atmosphere is strictly casual with wooden tables and picnic tables. Very reasonable and delicious!

I love the NC Farmer's Market because of the variety of things available. There are plants/herbs, vegetables, fruit, honey, fudge, goat cheese, jams/jellies, dips (my favorite is from a lady that sells a chipotle dip...yum!) and salsas. There's even a pork outlet. I've heard that the restaurant is good, but have never been there.

Awesome place, year-round. Two long buildings, an enclosed one with booths of state treasures, from baked and canned goods, to candy and crafts, not all from NC. The second building is open-air and houses only booths (stalls) of NC farmers. Depending on the time of year, everything from fresh fruits/veggies, to honey or fresh cut flowers. Sometimes "cake lady" as my friends call her, is there with Divine coconut cakes and other baked items. Half of the open air bldg is plants such as ferns, house plants, vegetables, etc. Another huge reason to go to the FM is the seafood restaurant, located at the end of the enclosed bldg, but not connected. AWESOME FRIED SEAFOOD. period. Look for coupons online. NC Seafood Mkt, I think. Dont miss the festivals and events held around the year. There is also a home/garden store. Great family outing.

If you go there with a party of more than 3, be prepared for a wait. They only have tables for larger parties on the perimeter and you cant pull up extra chairs because of regulations, or so they say. Also, some waitresses let you substitute items and some won't. I won't be back any time soon.

I was shocked by the quality of the food, general atmosphere and price. Waitstaff were friendly enough. But generally nothing tasted worse in recent memory than their hash browns or their coffee. ugh. I can't even think about it. I've eaten there twice. Eggs never prepared the way you ask. Tried their eggs benedict. never tasted a hollandaise that approaches what they are trying to pass off as hollandaise. Whoever thinks this is a an ok eating experience doesn't ever leave the house or is getting paid off by the management. Way overpriced compared to breakfast joints that are far superior around town.
