I recently went through the drive-through at this location to deposit my paychecks with my three dogs in the car. When they sent my card and receipt back through the tube, there were three milkbones in it. Someone in there is paying attention. ;)

I am in complete agreement with most of the post's. I had been a patron of BOA for many years but wanted to support a regional bank since we moved to NC and picked BB&T. Worst mistake I ever made in banking. In just slightly over a month of being with them it has been a nightmare - 1st - We funded the account by an electronic transfer from BOA thinking that would be the fastest. They held that in limbo for I believe 8 business days even though BOA recorded it the day I initiated the transfer through BB&T. Who had our money? Not us. After about a week I called BB&T asking why our account had not funded yet and was told ??that's just the way it is with electronic transfers, they take 5-10 business days?. That is total BS, anyone in this day and age knows that money now moves with a click of a computer key, 24 hours max for an electronic transfer. 2Nd - Their check company mistakenly charged me for checks I didn't order and to cover the charge BB&T transferred money from our savings to checking and charged us $10 for that. I resolved the problem with Harlond Clark and they agreed we were owed a refund. I Called BB&T and said they would only return the transfer fee when HC refunded our money. About 3 weeks later we finally got the refund from HC and I called BB&T to ask for the $10 back which finally posted about 5 days later. All in all about $40. of our money was tied up for 3-4 weeks. 3Rd ?? While all that was happening I had set up my bill payments and scheduled a few well in advance. Each confirmation said it had to be scheduled 5 business days in advance for the payment to be received by a certain due date. Sometime between when I scheduled the payments in mid July and when they were supposed to go out at the end of the month BB&T changed 3 of the 10 payees I entered from 5 day paper check delivery to 2 day electronic delivery but neglected to notify me which resulted in a payee receiving an electronic payment on 7/28 instead of 8/2 which is the confirmation I received when it was scheduled. Of course a $35 overdraft fee resulted. I called BB&T to ask how could they change a payment delivery date without notifying me and was told that this type of problem needs to escalated to level 2. When I asked to speak to Level 2, I was told they don't talk to customers and ??they will review your request and if BB&T was in error your $35 will be refunded in 5-10 business days?. I got what they call a service request # and the name of the person I spoke to. I then waited about 5 minutes called back and told them I had a service request # and wanted to speak to a supervisor. Of course I was told there were none available and so I said I will wait on the line until one is. ALLWAYS DO THIS AND GET THE NAME OF THE PERSON YOU ARE SPEAKING TO, my wife used to work for a call center and they cannot hang up on you or it reflects poorly on their ratings and ties up their line. In about 3 minutes a supervisor came on and said she had reviewed my complaint and felt I was not due a refund. When I told her that I refused to accept that answer and again explained the sequence of events she agreed and I saw the refund appear as pending on my account as we spoke. I could go on and on with examples like this in less than a 6 week period but let me finish with a few quick things ?? BILL PAY; use at your own risk. They canceled payments I had scheduled because I didn't have funds in the account on the day the paper check was supposed to be mailed and did not notify me. This is because they deduct the money from your account the day the payment is to be mailed, even though it is not scheduled to be delivered until a week later. When I asked how they could do this this, a paper check should not be honored until it it presented I was told ??that's just the way we do it?. CUSTOMER SERVICE; Calling them to get your money back after you have been unfairly charged fees? You'll be charged if you contact them more than 2 times a month, even if it's their fault. The final time I called them was today to complain about the $2 charge that had just appeared on my account. I informed them they would be losing our business and direct deposits because I had never experienced a less customer friendly bank in over 40 years. When I asked if I would charged $2 for the call she graciously said she would waive the charge. Bottom line; if you're a millionaire that never lets their balance drop below thousands of dollars you may like BB&T, I'm sure they'll treat you very well. If you're an average schlep like me living from paycheck to paycheck avoid them like the plague.

Banking with BB&T has been one nightmare after another for me... everything from duplicate charges that they refuse to remove to charging me overdraft fees when my bank account has a POSITIVE balance... and after yet another mistake, I check my account balance tonight to see that they are charging $2 per phone call to their customer service department to get THEIR mistakes straightened out. I'm taking my money as far away from BB&T as I can get.

Pros: None that you can't find at every other bank

Cons: Unprofessional staff, exorbitant fees, CHARGING YOU TO CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE

I just wanted to personally thank Lisa Burch at the Garner Location; BB&T branch.

After seeing some of the ratings she has received recentely...I was very shocked that anyone could be so mean to her! The experience I received this week from Mrs. Burch exceeded any expectation that I could ask for from a customer service standpoint. She was everything that her business card says on the back...Reliable, Responsive, Empathetic and very COMPETENT IN HER JOB! There were even a couple times when she would call me back with a response before I could even get back to my residence! WOW...now that's CUSTOMER SERVICE! If you should need anything from a financial banker....please see Mrs. Burch @ the Garner BB&T Branch! My thanks to you Mrs. Burch!

This is a complaint about BB&T customer service. Some weeks ago I received a phone call from them demanding that I identify myself. I did not, and asked what the phone call was about. They said, "a bank matter". I told them I did not want to talk with them, and that I was on the do not call list. Since then I have received 9 more calls which I answered and about the same number on my answering machine. I have asked repeatedly that they stop calling. Last weekend they called 3 times in one night. I have not had an account with BBT in 13 years. Any ideas on how I can get them to leave me alone?

I also have had a horrible experience with BB&T since I opened up account there 1 month ago. I had a direct deposit for a substainal amount and deposteid an Investment check from Fidelity drawn on Deustche Bank. The investment deposit was made through the ATM on a Thursday a.m. The following Monday a.m. I checked my account on line and discovered there had been a hold placed on that amount and I had paid some bills in the mean time. I called and spoke with Lisa Burch the branch manager of the Garner location who had no common sense what so ever and no customer skills at all!. If the computer didn't tell her exactly what to do she couldn't make a "common sense" decision on her own. I eneded up resolving my issue with a Branch Manager at a RTP location who was very understanding and customjer savy. I am just hoping that my experience with the Garner location isn't a reflection of my future experiences.

I opened an account at BB&T a couple of months ago. I had a bank check from Chase for 3000 held for 14 days which is ridiculous. My wife opened a separate account. She recently deposited her payroll check on Friday and had a 3 day hold put on it. She wrote me a check on the money that I deposited on into my BB&T account on Monday. Because of the 3 day hold she went into overdraft which is totally ridiculous, because BB&T had the money from the payroll check.
My wife, unaware of the overdraft used her debit card for incidental purchases, like coffee and hamburgers 6 times for which BB& T charged her $35 per incident for overdraft fees, resulting in over $200 in overdraft fees. Mind you, she had the money, BB&T received the Payroll check on Friday and the only reason she was sent into overdraft was the funds from her payroll check being held.
She had the funds in her account to cover the check. BB&T does not deserve anyone's business. They are in the business of tricking people and ripping them off!!! They need to be investigated by the Federal and State government. There also needs to be a case action law suit brought against them for unfair and fraudulent trade practices. They claim they sent a mailer, they claim they tell people that at the counter, They Did Not do either!!!
I think this is simply a way of making people overdraft and a very bad way to make loyal customers. We asked for part of the charges to be waived and the arrogant bank manager, Beth Angle at the Brier Creek Parkway branch Raleigh NC, would not waive any of the charges. Her bank was empty of customers and I can see why. No One wants to do business with her.
I think BB&T is the worst bank I have ever done business with in all my life of 46 years.
It is not right for BB&T to benefit from money they stole from us.

The service person was not helpful. It took a long time for her to get around to helping customers (there were only two of us). We waited more than 15 minutes for her to assist one of us, I waited over 30 minutes. They did not accet a tax excempt letter to set up an account from the non-profit organization headquarters. The service person was unable to specify the form that would meet their needs. Basically the service person was unresponsive to waiting customers and she did not appear to want our business.
