I went on a Friday night for the buy 1 get 1 free deal. It was about a 45min wait. It seems like a good deal, but it's not after all the waiting and for sushi that is thoughtlessly created.

They have about 100 different rolls, and it seems like they just put different ingredients together without any thought to taste or proportion. There is no art to their sushi whatsoever.

The decor doesn't really go with the food, and the service was slow. Overall, the dining experience wasn't satisfying enough for me to go back there again.

This place offers fantastic sushi, great atmosphere and courteous staff. I would recommend sticking with the sushi or appetizers. Tried the duck, didnt like, but the sushi is phenomenal. Went there twice impressed both time.

Wonderful place and atmosphere. The sushi is great. Best to go there on one of their lesser busy nights if it is your first time. They get pretty overwhelmed on Friday and Saturday nights but it comes with the territory of being so good plus the BOGO sushi. Try their other two locations....Sushi Love on Erwin Road in Durham and Tasu in Beaver Creek. All three locations are great! I recommend highly!

There is one server that I would love to see go and stay gone. HINT!

I just went there last night with my friends. I was disappointed by the chirashi sushi don that the salmon is still frozen inside! It's like eating some frozen food that still have ice chunk in there, but in a bad way. I've never had any raw fish with ice in there and it's very sad that I had that at Shiki.

Cons: too many people for them to focus on the food

.

I dont think i would recommend this place since it just is way too expensive for the sloppy sushi rolls that they serve. That's why I started going to another place every time i wanted sushi. If you want quality rolls for a reasonable price, you wont find it here.

Back in the day, Shiki Sushi had a wonderful simple menu with outstanding food. Occasionally when a restaurant expands size and expands their menu the food quality can take a dive. Not so with Shiki Sushi! The diverse menu offerings have always been expertly cooked with phenomenal flavor. The sushi is also of good quality.

Shiki Sushi has some of the best sushi I've tried! I love their miso soup too! The service is spectacular and they fairly recently remodeled to make the atmosphere more modern. It's a fun, clean, atmosphere to sit back and enjoy some delicious sushi!

If you have had good sushi with the best selection of fresh fish, rolled tight and to perfection, you will laugh and the 4-start rating and "best sushi" comments. Several people from Mexico, who really are that good at rolling sushi = faux sushi chef's. I have honestly had better rolled sushi from Harris Teeter.

The two for one is a rip off because the should take like kind for like kind. So if you by 2 rolls - 1 at $10 and another $8, 2 sashimi - 1 $4 and the other $5, then you should be charged $10 and $5, not $10 & 8. That's common sense. That is why they don't let you split checks, because you will put the cheap sushi on one bill and the expensive rolls on the other. The way to get around this is order rolls that are close in price.

As far as the wait goes, it's not their fault. Go to any good restaurant on a busy night and it will be busy. I always sit at the bar and the bartenders are very friendly and cool.

There are better places, but none as cheap.

Pros: 2-4-1 Sushi (if you know how to order

Cons: The management svcks because the are making tons of money

I've been to shiki sushi a few times for dinner in the two years. They do have a large variety of Asian dishes, as well as a sushi menu. The sushi isn't as good as the competition, especially considering the price.

The last time I was there, a member of my dinner party had a complaint about his meal. The manager came out and had an argument with my friend, leaving everyone a bit upset and probably disturbing adjacent tables.

With this kind of service, I'm sure you have a better meal at almost any restaurant.

The sushi is always good, but there is always a wait and it is always really loud. Overall, it's still one the the best sushi deals in the triangle!

I absolutely LOVE the Buy 1 Get 1 Free Sushi deal. Before finding Shiki 2 years ago, I had never really tried sushi because it was too expensive and I was afraid I wouldn't like it. But you can't go wrong at Shiki, everything I've tried has been delicious.
I really like eel ( which I was nervous about trying but it doesn't taste anything like what it sounds like-- it has a very pleasant sweet taste) so I switch between the Sweet Dragon Roll and the Eel Fashion Roll. They both have eel and avocado, but the Eel Fashion also has cream cheese in it.

For my second roll I always go with the Shiki Crunch roll that is topped with crunchy tempura crumbles and delicious eel sauce (a sweet, thick sauce not actually made from eel, just traditionally served along side eel dishes).

At any other sushi place I either walk away still hungry or having dropped a ton of money. At Shiki I'm full on sushi for only $12.

This was my 3rd visit to this place. We were told it would be 30min for a table so we waited patiently. After seeing others arriving after us at 35min we questioned if our buzzer was working and was assured our table would be seated soon. Checked again at 50 min; same story. At 55min they realized they accidently scratched our number off and while they apologized we were not seated for another 5minutes. When we ordered, our waitress forgot to put in our appetizer order so we ended up cancelling that when our dinner arrived first. The ice tea I ordered was really warm as if they just added ice seconds before serving it and was way too sweet! The food is no better than your average Asian bistro, but more expensive. The atmoshpere is very noisy such that it is very hard to have a conversation and you leave with a headache. When trying to get our bill, it took an excessive amount of time. I am not sure what the attraction is to this place. The service is going downhill fast and I think there are better options.

my husband and i enjoy having our sushi dinners every once in a while and we usually come here. their sushi is quite good. their buy one get one free deal is enticing and helps, but we still end up spending too much $ b/c we want a taste of everything! other dishes are asian fusion style, not really authentic...very tasty, but portions are on smaller side and they fill up dishes with lot more veggies so you don't end up getting much of the meat or food. service has been fine. they get pretty busy, esp since expanding their restaurant, so expect to wait a bit.

We went to Shiki for a group couple's date. We all had a great time. The food was fantastic! We all ordered something different and shared. No one had a complaint. Except that we had too much sake. They have a very extensive menu. It is a little pricey but the food was great. Very surprised they are in a strip mall but they have obviously expanded and updated the area. Our server was very attentive and courteous. Highly recommend.

First of all the hostess that was there was unprofessional and rude. I don't know what his name was but he was extremely rude and didn't know what he was doing. He was snapping at the other people at the front desk and very frazzled. We were originally told the wait was a certain time and then it was changed over and over again. Once we were sat at our table the service we received by the wait staff was great but the initial experience walking through the door was something to be desired.

If you're looking for some "teriyaki chicken" go somewhere else, there's a Japan Express right down the street. Stiffing your server just makes you look ignorant.

They call this place Shiki Sushi for a reason. It's primarily a sushi bar. The sushi is great, i love their spider special and dynamite rolls. However the entrees on the menu are usually just okay. In order to get a good dish there you really have to tell your server "If i was Japanese, that's how I'd like my food." They tone down most of their dishes for the American palliate. The menu is big enough that you can get lost in the less desirable dishes and end up with something just okay, make sure to ask your server for their suggestions. The red curry is my brother's favorite, he gets that practically weekly.

Pros: 2 for 1 sushi

Cons: As a result of being in Durham, the place can have some rather incompetent servers, ask for Teddy.

While the food and value is good, I would not recommend this as a date option. I just called and was told they do not take reservations unless you have a larger party. I asked what size is that... they only take reservations for parties of 7 or more! That's just crazy. Having to wait in line for a 'first come, first served basis' makes this restaurant a non-option for those that want dinner before another event.

I see a lot of people give this place pretty bad reviews based on their reactions to receiving their checks. OF COURSE YOU'LL BE CHARGED FOR THE MOST EXPENSIVE SUSHI YOU ORDER. All buy 1 get 1 free deals in history charge you for equal or less value. Do you really think they'll ring up your $3.95 nigiri and not your $13 roll? Don't be dumb.

The sushi is good for what it is. It's cheap, it's quick, it's fairly tasty. The salmon is probably the best, the white tuna (which isn't actually white tuna, it's butterfish, but this is beside the point). A chirashi don there is a pretty great deal. Tons of fish, more than a sashimi deluxe, and it's like $15. The rolls there are what I'd recommend eating though if you're any bit of a sushi snob. Once stuff is cooked, covered in different sauces, etc, everything is pretty good. The rolls here are on the small side so eating 2 to 3 of them per person is a reality.

The kitchen food (anything off the other menu) is why I love shiki. It's AMAZING. Everything i've tried there has been awesome. The pho is really good, which is surprising, but then not really because it's owned and operated largely by vietnamese people (including the head kitchen chef). The noodle dishes sort of tend to be hard to discern from eachother (pad see yew vs drunken noodles, for instance) but that's okay because it's all delicious.

The appetizers, don't miss those. Best calamari I've had anywhere. Chicken lettuce wraps are great, too.

Oh OH last thing, the best thing on the menu is definitely panang curry. Hands down favorite. I ate it like, for a week straight. So pretty much I'd give this place 3 stars for sushi because I'm a spoiled brat and highly judgemental when it comes to quality and presentation, but a 5 for the other food. The atmosphere is pretty chill, too, and they have drink specials like every day of the week that are also bangin.

Wow i just went to shiki last night i thought it was a great eating experience( great price and Food). I want everyone to know that they have Japanese food (hibachi), Chinese food like(orange chicken), and Thai food (panang curry, Thai spicy basil). Nice decor inside, great for date night or bring in the family. With new management in place this restaurant is a great addition within 1 mile of south point mall.

It takes a while for the sushi to be prepared, but that can be expected. the menu assortment is great. If you dont like sushi, you've gotta try the hibachi steak and veggies (or chicken/shrimp)--outstanding!

My boyfriend and I were craving some Japanese food, so we decided to try Shiki's. WOW! That's probably the worst idea I've ever had. The service was absolutely terrible and the food was the worst food I've EVER eaten, and undoubtedly the worst Japanese food ever. I ordered the terryaki chicken. On my salad, I asked for shrimp sause, but the waitress said it would be on the side. Well, they brought us these huge dishes with a teeny weeny little bit of shrimp sauce in it, and the salad was swimming in this disgusting dressing (I think it was supposed to be ginger sauce). Needless to say, neither of us took a second bite of our salds. Anyway, when our food came, I was even more disappointed. There was no soy sauce in the rice, the egg noodles were repulsive, the chicken had no terryaki sauce on it, and the vegetables were horrible. I don't understand why they consider their food "Japanese" seeing as how it was just cooked rice and chicken. It was way too expensive considering how awful it was, but we did save money by stiffing our waitress who ignored us the entire time. My boyfriend and I were still hungry when we left because we could hardly stomach any of the food, so we stopped at Wendy's on our way home. I would definitely not recommend going here if you are looking for a nice Japanese meal.

Great sushi--buy one get one free every day! But they don't split checks at dinner, so bring cash. They recently built a great bar area that is tres chic and a great place to hang out, especially during a Friday night wait. Friday nights are CRAZY BUSY, so go before 6 or try Saturday night instead. Curry was ok. I usually only go for the sushi. Wasabi roll is my favorite! (not too hot either)

I've been to this place a couple of times because a friend wanted to go. The food from their hibachi menu is ok, but not great; last time my steak was WAY overcooked. But what really makes me give them a terrible review is their horrible policies. Supposedly, they'll split checks up to 4 or 5 ways, but not on weekends (?!). So I went in on a Sunday at LUNCHtime and ordered from the LUNCH menu for my LUNCH. When the bill came, I was charged the dinner price because...they don't serve lunches on weekends. Since my meal cost my 30% more than I had intended to pay, I chose not to leave a tip; the service was ok, but nothing special enough to make me overlook my anger at the price gouging. When the charge cleared from my debit card, the waiter had helped himself to a 20% tip! I looked all over, hoping that I still had my copy of the receipt but I couldn't find it. I might not be able to do anything about this experience, but you can bet I will never step foot through the door of Shiki Sushi again.

My friends and I have been almost every Friday evening (right after work to avoid the rush) for the past month or so. Although their air conditioning has had trouble keeping up with the extremely high temperatures recently, our time at Shiki is always GREAT. Unlike some reveiwers, we've consistently found the service and management to be attentitive and helpful.

They do no print individual checks (if you get sushi), but are happy to charge different cards what ever price you need. To make things easy, we typically substract out the alcoholic drinks and then divide the bill evenly among the group (and then add the drinks back onto the appropriate person's bill).

Our favorite rolls: Florida, Shiki crunch, Carribean, Volcano, and Philadelphia

I moved to Durham from Boston a year and half ago and found this little spot by mistake...I have eaten at alot of sushi spots in SF, Boston, Conneticut, New Hampshire, New York, Orlando, San Diego and have found Shiki to be very competitive with some of the best sushi spots I've eaten at. I was there recently and they seem to be going through change. Their staff was very attentive and they seem to have a large amount of staff now as opposed to before...They have a server with an assistant for all servers now...Was there before the rush so it was not too packed...I highly recommend going there as it is always my fiance and I's favorite. Can't beat their half off sushi either!

Their staff was very attentive and they seem to have a large amount of staff now as opposed to before...They have a server with an assistant for all servers now...Was there before the rush so it was not too packed...I highly recommend going there as it is always my fiance and I's favorite. Can't beat their half off sushi either!

Pros: Good sushi for great prices

Cons: Can be hectis at rush times

.

Shiki has been consistantly a good bargain for sushi in the area. You do need to understand the buy one get one policy... just like anywhere else the cheapest things are free.... so balance when ordering. I have found they have a far better selection and generally better quality than Waraji. Also you can usualy get a seat and have dinner at shiki before you would even be seated at Waraji! I've been going to shiki for several years now and they have never let me down. I just don't understand some of the reviews on this site.... those folks could not have gone to the same restaurant? Give it a try for yourself.... you will enjoy it!

I've been going here for the last two years. The service was great in the beginning, my boyfriend and I were regular customers (going there at least once a week), yet as they began to expand/renovate, the service was dreadful while the sushi is still worth the price (buy one get one free, charged for the more expensive-which is normal everywhere for any "buy one, get one free" deal). I've only been there twice now in the last 6 months due to service and also the cleanliness. I've had dirty utensils and cups, along with my friend who got dirty water several times. When we ordered eggrolls which said they were with meat, there were none. All we received for $7 were three eggrolls cut in half, swimming and dripping in oil (I could see it still under dim lights!) as we both lifted them from the serving plate. The only things in these eggrolls were oil, barely any vegetables, and no meat, not even tofu.
Do not even complain about your food or if it isn't right, servers will ask you if they can try it, even taking your own chopsticks.
I feel a bit cramped nowadays there since they've added tables in every single little space there is. The last time I was there (end of May), we were sat right at the door leading to the outdoor dining. People constantly kept running into us, especially waiters. I understand one or two times, but several times is a bit odd. I'm giving this place one more chance tomorrow, let's hope that lunch will be better.
The best time to go for good service, cleanliness, and great quality seems to be only before the dinner rush starting around 4:30.

I think it's time for an actual reviewer to go there and pan them though...

Pros: Sushi

Cons: Everything else-do not order any other dishes

Maybe the title is a little dramatic; the food here is OK but BEWARE. They do NOT split checks, and this means that their so-called "buy one, get one" sushi is a TERRIBLE ripoff for parties of more than one group. This is a ripoff targeted directly at the sushi eaters; the most expensive items are the ones for which they charge and when they say they don't split checks they mean it.

When I ate there, one group got less expensive sushi and the other got much more expensive items. The wait for food was reasonable but our waiter was nowhere to be seen - wish we could have tipped the other waiter who noticed our neglect and was always nearby giving us drink refills and taking our plates! At the end of the meal we got one huge check with what seemed an unusually high total - we spent 20 minutes having to manually calculate our check to split it, and it ended up that both parties got charged $20 more than we should have due to them only charging for the high-dollar sushi, regardless of which party ordered it. In addition, our waiter offered poor service and when we explained which cards we wanted to charge parts of the check to, he charged the WRONG CARDS with no apology. We spoke to the management and they were also unapologetic.

This restaurant is not worth the hassle. If they can put the correct sushi on different plates they can certainly go far enough to put the correct prices on the bill! Go someplace with better service (Red Bowl in Cary, anyone?) and save yourself the time and frustration.

This restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, but the customer service is the worse I've experienced in 10 years. My husband and I, along with another couple who highly recommended this place for dinner, decided to have dinner at the bar (time 6:40). Everyone places their order. We are served drinks and are waiting for our main entree. My husband's entree comes out and it is given to the wrong people. They questioned the waiter whether this was their order and he said yes. So as they partake on my husband's meal we continue waiting as everyone around us is served including the people we came with. We ordered two appetizers and did not receive them until 30 minutes later. After my husband questioned what was going on with the main entrees, the bartender discovered that the other guests were eating his meal. So, the bartender grabs the dish and sits it in front of my husband as if we were suppose to eat it. We paid for a full main entree, not one that has been half eaten by strangers. We had to ask the bartender to bring out another entree. As for my meal, which did not arrive until 45-50 minutes after being seated, I only received $1.00 off the meal although I waited close to an hour to get it. Customer service is absolutely horrible at this facility. I recommend maybe coming in during the early daytime to eat. Otherwise, you might as well plan on being there for 2-4 hours to order, get your meal, and eat. 0 stars for customer service and 3 stars for othe food. Person ally, being that this was my first experience here, I donot plan on going back ever again!

Pros: Not far from where I live

Cons: POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!

They have their on and off nights, both with service and food quality. Sometimes service is fast, sometimes painstakingly slow. Fish quality is very good, but sometimes I've seen the avocado pretty brown. Sushi rolls are a little pricy, so the buy one get one free isn't really buy one get one free, but it's still a fair price in end. They only take reservations for big parties, so there's no way to avoid the loooong wait on weekends. That's pretty much it, but I would also like to point out to that idiot catbaby below, the fish is not pre-cut, the sushi chefs cut them before the shift. Has anyone ever seen a sushi chef cutting the fish as they go? Especially when it's busy?

So, yes their restaurant looks a lot nicer and presentable, but service and food quality---NOT GOOD!!! They are rude to their customers, half the staff doesnt know what goes in what or what comes with what, and it takes forever to get anything in that restaurant. Two incidents in which the staff has been nothing but RUDE. We asked to replace a beef dish with chicken and the server looked at us confused and told us it might not be possible! are you kidding me? I understand dumplings, spring rolls, etc are pre made so yeah you can not substitute meats but a dish that is cooked right then can not have a meat modification is ridiculous. The restaurant needs to make sure the staff is well trained before they are running the floor. The food is bland and the cost is high. Other than the sushi special, its not worth going to.

Pros: nothing

The decor is pleasant, and the resturant crowded. I had decided to give this place another try. It is my last attempt with this place for sushi. We were able to get a seat at the sushi bar fairly quickly and the wait staff was over quickly to get us drinks and take our order. My friend and I split the basic salad with ginger dressing. The dressing was very weak and the lettuce was wilted. We then tried several of the sushi rolls. The fish was very bland and none had seem to be unique in flavor. I then noticed that all the fish is pre-cut in the case and all the "Chief" was doing wrapping on the rice. This is fast food sushi... move over Micky D's.

Pros: Convenient to Southpoint area

I don?t know what happened to this place. I have been a loyal customer, but after 3 bad experiences, no more. I?ve waited over 45 minutes for my food and when the food finally came, it was cold. The waiter essentially refused to take it back or do anything to remedy it. The sushi is dry and seafood part of any roll is much smaller than it used to be, the eel is extremely dry and tasteless. The Thai basil dish used to be really good, spicy and full of flavor, now it tastes like generic Chinese take out, no spice, no real flavor. The yellow curry is about as bland as it is possible to make a curry and has at least day old vegetables in it. Even the rice is now overcooked and simply awful. One waiter told me that they had made a decision to tone down the spice level in all of the food. Why they couldn?t just offer a choice of heat levels I don?t know. Lousy food, lousy service and with the expansion, it is so loud that you can?t hear your dinner companion speak. A real disappointment. There are much better sushi and Thai restaurants in the area.

Pros: None anymore

Cons: Bland food, old or overcooked fish, small portions, slow service, staff doesn't care and won't help

.

It seems that ownership does not know what to do with the place anymore!!!!
Sushi decreased quality substantially , it takes too long and the manager tell staff to recomend food and not sushi. The reason that we have been coming to shiki "sushi" is because of sushi so if this items are no longer even recomended to order by the staff our hope is lost, by the way food is not worth to try! Where is the essence of the place.
Our recent visit was very unplesant and service has gotten slower. Drinks are great and the bar will be our place to be if we ever come back. At least the bar shows more interest for customers than any other area of the restaurant. Great job to whoever manages the bar.

buy one get one free is not really a good deal considering that the prices are at least couple of bucks over other sushi places. There is a looooong wait and the staff are stupid. When I asked why a group of seven was seated before us, she said its because your party has eight people. Didn't make much sense to me.

food is good, but if you are hungry go elsewhere. unfortunately, shiki is a victim of its own success after they introduced the "buy one get one free" deal. It is now very loud (my parents complained that they could barely hear me over the music) and the experience is no longer very pleasant. As I am writing this I am saddened because as you can read from others this place used to be more customer friendly.

good luck, but I will not be back any time soon.

I have been going to the restaurant for years and after my past two experiences will never be back.
Since renovation food, service, and ambience way down hill. Music was so loud we could not hear our server or eachother. Rude bartenders refused to lower volume and don't know how to make drinks. Is this a bad dance club or a restaurant?
If you want cheap sushi go to Harris Teeter with their recent decline in quality Shiki is not worth your time or money.
If you want great Sushi, make the drive to Raleigh for Waraji.

I've been going to Shiki Sushi on most Friday's for lunch for the past 2-3 years. My co-workers and I started going when it was a small restaurant with good sushi and they started the buy one get one free at lunch special. The service was always slow but we continued to go back b/c the sushi was great. In fact, we just started leaving earlier and beating the crowd. Now they've expanded and redecorated and it looks great. They increased the price a bit but it's still worth it. They have added a few new rolls and I have yet to have bad sushi there. The staff is friendly, the new bar is great and we still go as many Friday's as we can make it. They have the best sushi around for the price. If you go during lunch, be sure you have plenty of time b/c it will take longer than an hour. I've never been during dinner hours.

Being someone who has spent half of his life in the restaurant industry, I tend to be more understanding than not when a negative incident occurs at a restaurant. After being a guest at Shiki Sushi's for 2 years, I can no longer stand to go there. My final experience was so poor, I registered for this to make my first review. It seems like their food quality and service was competing with the ambiance, until the ambiance won. In the past year, that place has gone through more managers and staff than any other establishment I can think of in the area. And with every twist and turn, something else is lost in the wayside. The service is incredibly slow and slack, depending upon who your server is. Your lucky if you only have to wait 10 minutes to get a drink refill. This, however, is not entirely the servers fault. They are poorly trained and given more tables than they can handle. And the young manager spends more time flirting with the female staff members and guests than managing. And after all of that, I would rate the service as higher than the food quality. The "Buy One Get One Free" is a joke. The quality of the fish and presentation of the rolls is sloppy and shameful, lacking all of the intriquete qualities that makes sushi enjoyable: dynamic flavors, freshness, vibrant presentation, and any inkling of imagination. If the sushi has become a joke, the hot food is a riot. A flavorless, luke warm riot. My daughter loves edamame. We make it at home from the stuff you can get frozen, and it has never come out as soggy and mushy as I've seen it there. Not to mention the center is cold. But then, we don't microwave it at home like they must do there. My final issue is seeing the owner and managers argue and YELL at customers. It's unbelieveable. I have never seen anything like it. The owner, Thom, seems like he could care less about the people who walk through the door. This place has forgotten that people pay hard earned money for an experience, not just for food.

I've been to Shiki many times in the past and have been fairly satisfied. Tonight I went with a party of 8 and the majority of us were unhappy with our meals and sushi. The quality, flavor and service have gone way downhill as the prices go up and the new decor goes in. My food was flavorless, I ordered the vegetables with peanut 'sauce' and tasted some sushi. I'm not sure what the soupy goo was that was on my veggies, but I'm not convinced it was peanut anything! btw, there weren't many veggies in the goo. It was served in a large bowl like soup, with a lump of rice on a HUGE plate. I only tasted two pieces of shushi and both were nasty.
Another person in our party ordered duck and said it was grisely and didn't taste anything like it had in the past. I noticed he sort of just picked at it. There were to have been mushrooms in the vegetables and there were none.
The service was slow, we were there a hour and a half before being served less than mediocre food, and we didn't receive a drink from the bar we ordered.

They also charged a 20% gratuity!!!!!!

On top of it all they served water without asking first, a clear violation of Stage iv water restrictions.

NEVER AGAIN!!!

Instead of going to Akashi, as we normally do, we decided to give the revamped Shiki Sushi another shot. We'd been here many times before the new decor change and had had okay sushi and mediocre service. Even after all of the style changes, Shiki is once again someplace I'd rather not spend my money. After my husband had to have two new menus given to him (1st had page repeats, 2nd had prices wrong), we could still barely read the text on the menu (even our server had trouble). We ordered approx. $20 of sushi apiece, which came with soup & salad (and had to remind the server of this)... Of course we got them about 5 minutes after they brought the sushi over. When they served the sushi, it came on huge plates, too big for the table and so big that the food server managed to knock over my overpriced sake (at least $5 less at other sushi restaurants). When we complained to the manager about the sushi coming before the soup/salad, the knocked over drink, the inability to read the menus, the plate size, all she offered was to buy me another bottle of sake (which I said I couldn't drink another bottle and she did not offer to pay for the first), her apologies, and a lame excuse about having printer problems. Honestly, do I care that your restaurant is so disorganized? I am paying the bill here... If you're looking for good sushi with decent service, go to Akashi. If you're looking for posh looking surroundings and not much else, feel free to try this place.

Honestly, do I care that your restaurant is so disorganized? I am paying the bill here... If you're looking for good sushi with decent service, go to Akashi. If you're looking for posh looking surroundings and not much else, feel free to try this place.

Pros: Nice decor

Cons: Not much else and the manager doesn't seem to care about her customers.

I've eaten at many sushi places around the world, and I'd have to say that Shiki Sushi is the best! all the servers are very nice ! The sushi chefs are great ! You should try all the Shiki Specialty rolls! all on the sushi menu, and All 2for1, They get sushi shipment afew times a week, the fish are very fresh! The hosts are super friendly!! you have to go there and give it a try!! never say never!

Left with a sour taste after eating here. My wife saw this place as we stopped to get gas before going to southpoint and we decided to go after (she) finished shopping lol. I ordered a couple of rolls for my wife and I and had some special instructions on the rolls but the "Chef made a mistake" and it took 45 min to get our sushi. Luckly my daugher got her food sooner but the poor thing didn't even eat it because she didn't like it. Eventually after we got our sushi I ssked the server to bring us some white rice and she ate some but wasn't happy at all. Had to go to Wendy's to satisfy her hungry. The buy one get one free deal isn't worth coming there again.

Server was nice and attentive but sushi took way too long!!!!! almost and hour wait. I will say that I was a busy Friday night but I wasn't the only one complaining about the wait. Also the sushi wasn't fresh and it wasn't a picturesque like you see all the time at other sushi places. I looked like it'd been rolled, shoved in a dryer and put on a plate. Very messy. I don't recommend.

First of all, the "buy one get one free" deal screwed my friends and I over. They ended up not splitting our check, so we paid 20 dollars more than we should have. Secondly, the owner was completely rude to us. We wanted to ask him about our check, and it took him about ten minutes to finally get over to us. Then when he did come over, he would not let us speak and kept on interrupting us. He finally yelled and walked away from us, without finishing the conversation. I later went up to him to tell him that I would have been more compliant if he had not been so rude. He then started yelling about how he was 15 years older than we were and that he would not listen to us. In the end, I told him that he had lost our business. We paid the check and tipped our waiter, who was really nice about the entire ordeal. If you want to avoid being insulted and completely humiliated by an unbelievably ridiculous owner, DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT!

Service is not good. Hostess doesn't know what's going on. Soy sauce is watery. Sushi is okay. Not even worth getting the "buy one get one free", when you still have to pay a quarter for the sushi that is "free". Went there once with a couple of friends and the bartender took about 15 minutes to make our drink, and I would understand if he was busy and there were tickets piling up but I'm pretty sure he wasn't busy. Service is just not good.

Everything at shiki sushi is wonderful. The wait staff, the host, and the management. Everything is very enjoyable. The buy one get one free is a good deal, as it is exactly what it says. You buy the more expensive of the two and the second one is free. I honestly think that they have the best sushi around, and the best for your money. I look forward to going once a week!

After being referred by work friends to Akashi, we wanted to try the place their owner started in- Shiki. Honest assessment is this place is better for a date as far as money spent on decor and was indeed doing much more business than Akashi dreams of (at least at night, which is when we go).

Shiki half price has been explained to me in another thread by a devotee of Shiki (yes, I'm one of those people who 'can't grasp' the concept). Bottom line the whole thing is shady and too much trouble for dinner in my book. Give me a price- if you're giving me a discount, give it to me by the item, or by the total, but not by Algebra. Seriously.

Waitress was not helpful or attentive and the tables at least in our section were too close together. Seems like these two restaurants are warring almost for the RTP business - I'll take the low class ambience of Askashi in exchange for the food and the hospitality.

Just my two.

I stumbled upon this place randomly, but I'm happy I did as it is located close to my house. The hostess at the front door was "busy" doing something else, but we were picked up by someone else and seated. Except for the hostess, everyone else has been incredibly friendly (incl. our waiter). The food was great (entree and 2 rolls of sushi) and at very reasonable prices! The decor was pretty and mellow (relatively quiet, which I like). The service was pretty quick - I've been to sushi places that take an hour to bring our the order but this one was different. However, the place was at about 30% capacity so I don't know how it would do when it's more crowded. And to those who don't grasp the buy-one-get-one-free concept: you pay for the more expensive one, and get the cheaper one free! I will definitely return often to this place!

I've been there several times and it was very professional service with good sushi there in the past years.
Now it's like a long wait for my order and long wait for getting water refilled. All the waiters were standing there to chat around. They did not even notice my water is gone for a long time.
Also, the by one get one free is so NOT TRUE.
We ordered 4 rolls($10 each) + 4 single sushi ($3.95 each). They charged 4 rolls of money and gave us 4 single sushi for free. And they did not let us to pay for seperate check.
To be there as a customer, I consider to buy one roll and get one roll free. Buy 1 piece for 1 pieces sushi free. I do not think I will go back to this place again.
