Have been going to Helen for years, and I am never disappointed. Samantha knows excactly how I want Hooter cut and he is always happy to go there. They are the most economical place in town and are so friendly. Cora's work with the animals organizations shows she is a true animal lover. I simply would never go anywhere else in town.

I have been going to Helen's for years. I absolutely love the way they groom my three shiatsu. China, Zeus, and Roxie love their spa days, i also leave them there for dogie day care when my husband goes out of town and they just work wonderfully with my schedule. If you are leaving for any period of time i fully recommend that you bring your animals here. They make it feel so homey and just treat the animals with such great care. I would trust Cora, and everyone at Helen's, with everything. They are so amazing and any one who says other wise has obviously not been there.

I am new in the Greenville area and needed to find somewhere to have my dog groomed. Having asked around I tried one place and was not satisfied at all. Then a coworker suggested Helen's. I went there and talked to Cora and her groomer Samantha, I was very impressed with both of their knowledge and professionalism. Not only did they groom Molly to perfection, I could tell how happy Molly was with the whole experience. As far as I am concerned Helens is the only place Molly will be happy with.

You are risking your pet's life if you take them to this woman. Place is old, run down and dirty and reeks of cigarettes and urine. We contracted them to care for our animals years ago before Cora was the owner and it was wonderful. SInce she took over the place has been questionable at best. We had been regular customers for years and all of the sudden we were ignored if we came in, charged more than originally quoted, upcharged for things that are customary. We picked up our dogs after one visit and they were infested with fleas, dehydrated (NO ONE CALLED TO SAY THE A?C DID NOT WORK!) and after almost $1000 in vet bills, this woman didn't have the decency to even call to check on their welfare and blamed us for their medical issues. Our dogs are regularly vaccinated, have health insurance, regular teeth cleaning and have been 100% healthy their entire lives. I wouldn't take any animal I loved anywhere near Helen's. My husband's dog had loose teeth after being taken there for grooming and the vet said it was possible the dog had fallen from the table or may have been intentionally inured. We left a micro chip recorder in the place when we dropped them off and the things that were said when no customers were in sight were revolting. We have considered prosecution but she continues to get away with substandard care because NC law does not protect pets in boarding facilities though we are aware she has been under investigation for many infractions.

If you love your pets, do not send them here to board for any length of time. My dog spent one week here while we were on vacation. She came home with open sores on her head, a blister inside her mouth, and the pads on her back paws were completely raw. First, they tried to tell me that she came to them like that and then proceeded to tell me she must have hurt herself during a thunderstorm. The storm occurred three days before I picked her up. No one called me to tell me that she was injured in any way. I don't think they even noticed her sores until I came to pick her up.

Be warned. Your pets will be neglected and possibly abused in the care of Helen's Pet Motel.

Helen's Pet Grooming is a top rate grooming facility. They care for and listen to what your want. I have a 5 year old Shih Tzu and a 14 year old Sheltie that I have taken there for the last 5 plus years and I have never have had a problem with the way they cut or treated my pets or me. They had accidently clipped my sheltie once and they took her to a vet and had the wound treated. I had been out of town and when I returned they informed me of the incident and when I asked to see my pet she had a small nick on her ear which I was not upset. The staff were very professional and truely cared about my baby. I have boarded my pets with them several times and have never had any problem. They ask for the shot record of each pet that they board to ensure that all shots are up to date. I have actully watched how they clean the out door kennels and was very impressed. I checked with my vet and he stated that the way this was done was the most excepted and most reccomended by the vets and the boarding exanination board. Cora is a very professional person and has a very caring attitude of any and all pets under her and her staffs care. I also board my German Sheppard with her that is a trained drug interdiction dog and would only leave her with someone I truely trusted and at a top notch facility.

If you are careful enough to check the reviews BEFORE taking your pet somewhere new then ask for a TOUR of this facility BEFORE TAKING YOUR DOG!!!! You don't need to believe me and I was fooled by these other positive reviews.....thinking the few bad ones were just "a random bad expirence". First, the air is full of bad odors (cigarettes, urine) and the space is small. The grooming area was dirty and there were rusty metal tables and rusty metal cages where she said my "dog would be kept". She showed me the dryer hose that will be blowing direct heat onto my beloved WET dog and it was COLD! She then showed me the muddy/no grass pathway that the Large dogs walk through to get to their very rusty cages. The dogs in those cages looked like the dogs you see on the rescue commercials..... there is no where to play and they are pooping and peeing in the pathway where they are soposto be "allowed to run". The owner... not "Helen"...was proud of herself when she said "i come out and give the dogs water about 12noon with the hose, that way the don't have to hold their bladder too long and i can". MY DOG NEEDS WATER AND SHOULD NOT HAVE TO HOLD HIS BLADDER IF YOU ARE DOING THE THINGS YOUR BUSINESS SHOULD DO....limiting their water is abuse!!!!! After my expirence here I decided to check every place in Greenville as I have checked this one. I went looking for a space friendly place for large and small dogs, as i have one of each. A place that had no rust for pets to cause injury their paws and a housing facility that is not dictated by weather and or outside elements. A place that warmed my little dog when he is wet as he gets cold easy. A place not covered in hair and allowed my pets to enjoy the expirence. I have found a couple that I would take my pets to, one no too far from the "Hell hole for Dogs". Do your homework! check out other places and if location is an issue..... Four paws Inn is just around the corner and looked great. DONT TAKE my word for it.. check it out yourself!!!!! Also these places should be asking for shot records for Rabies and Parvo...I don't mind because I don't want my dogs housed with a dog that does not have these shots, for my dogs protection. GOOD LUCK I HOPE I HAVE HELPED!!!!!

By far the best place in Greenville to get your dog groomed. Highly recommend these folks to take care of your pet. Cora and the crew have taken care of Ranger for me for the last 6 years and he is always excited when we arrive. We have left him there numerous times while we were on vacation, and he always has had a great time. Looking forward to many more years of dropping our boy off there for both grooming and boarding.

Well Amanda, I beg to differ with you. My Lucy loves going to Helen's Grooming and I wouldn't take her anywhere else. As soon as we go in the door, Lucy knows that she is loved by Ms. Cora and all of the rest of the staff. They treat her as their own and I have NEVER had a problem there. Could it be you? Just wondering.

I have been taking my 15 year old Lab to Helens for the past 5 years. He is very old and has a bad hip. When I take him there i always mention his hips. The groomer always tells me not to worry and that she could never forget my baby. When he comes home from Helen's, he acts like a puppy again. His hips do not seem to bother him one bit. I asked what they have done and the groomer stated that she massaged his hips while he was in the bath tub. I have recently got a new dog, a boxer named Otis. When I bring him there for dayboarding, it is the best time. He comes home and sleeps for hours. Come to find out that Cora's daughter takes him out and runs him all over the yard. Helen's is by far the best place in Greenville and I would never recommend ANY OTHER PLACE for grooming or boarding needs.

i took my wire haired terrier there last year or so, and when i got her home, i noticed she was walking very funny. so i picked her up and inspected her. ALL 4 of her pads on her feet were oozing! and it looked very painful!! I immeditally took her to my vet the next day & they said her pads were oozing because they were cut all up! So, due to fault of the groomer( and i understand some miscuts, b/c dogs do squirm) but all 4 paws looked like someone just had fun knawling up her pads on her feet. And you know she had to whine, and squirm, B/c it hurt. To this day, she still has problems with people touching her feet. and dont even think about me taking her to another groomer!! what really made me mad was that they acted as if they didnt do anything wrong! it's one thing to make a mistake, but to blaintly do it, and then dont even apoligize!!

Having taken my dog to most other places in Greenville for grooming, I have found the Helen's is the best. The have been able to groom my very rambuncious poodle with out sedation, unlike other places who are associated with vets. Thank you Helen's for a great job!!

My older bichone received the best hair cut he has ever received. I could tell they took special care with him because all the other places I have tried make him stay in a cage for hours before they ever touch him. He usually comes home and can't stand or walk for days. They had him in and out within three hours and whatever shampoo they used, his fur looked like it did 10 years ago. I really appriciate the extra care and special attention they provide. They understood exactly what kind of cut I wanted.

DO NOT GET YOUR DOG CUT HERE! Both my roommate and I got our dogs groomed at Helen's. Not only did she charge us too much, she didn't do what we wanted, completely shaved all the hair off of both of them, and they look so stupid. We asked for the hair to be slightly shortened, and they both came back shaved. They don't even smell good either. They smell like dog pee. If they were going to shave them, at least they could have shaved the hair equal all around. They both have indents over the entire body. I will never go back here and I definately recommend you go anywhere both there. Its messy, they smoke inside, sucks all around.

And the next day, my roommate found a cut across her dogs head (that had dried blood and was swollen) and I found a cut across my dogs tummy. I couldn't believe it. As someone else said, watch out! The first time they are fine, the second time....horrible!

I have boarded my animals in most other establishments in Greenville, Helen's is by far and away the very best. They a dedicated and dependable. Having read the other reveiws, I can only speculate, but the ones giving poor reveiws must have personal issues. Yes they are busy but I have found and seen their "extra" special care given to the animals there. Keep up the great work Cora!!!

We left our dog there when we went on vacation one year. When my husband brought her home, she was covered in feces and urine. We called and complained and asked them to bathe her. They ended up doing that, but wanted to charge us. The dog was housebroken and had never had this problem before when we had boarded her at other places. Her foam pad that she sleeps on had to be thrown out. It was so dirty.

I am also new to the area and was very impressed by Cora and her staff the FIRST time that I took my 14 year old poodle to them. The next time they were VERY rude when I was upset about my pet. I wasn't being rude or disrespectful when I called, I was just upset when my husband brought my Alexis home so I called Cora to discuss it. I thought she would want to know what had happened. Cora said she couldn't give me an answer so she connected me to the groomer who proceeded to yell at me on the phone and practically called me a liar when I asked her why she had cut my poodle's ears. She said that she had not cut them...I was looking at her...They had been cut! Not trimmed, inches cut off! They had never been cut in 14 years. She kept insisting that she did not cut them and that she was the one that did Alexis "every" time that she came there and she did her the same "every" time...she was not any different now so she didn't know what "my problem" was. I had told them that Alexis' ears had NEVER been cut the first time I took her there and I did not want them cut. When I left her this time I asked if they kept records of their clients so they know what they have done and Cora said yes. I told her that I wanted Alexis done the same as last time. She asked about the toe nails and bows and I said as long as they are the same color. This time the charge was $10 cheaper (for same services? as I requested). I had also been told by Cora that I did not need to have an appointment to bring Alexis back when I picked her up "the first time". I thought that was a GREAT convenience because we do not have a second car. She said it was first come first serve. They open at 7:00 a.m. Well I waited one morning from 6:30 -7 so I would be 1st and when she opened the door she told me that I had to have an appointment in the summer and sent me away. I made an appointment but still had to be first come basis. This time we were 2nd on the list and it still took until 2:00 p.m. until she was ready to be picked up although I had told Cora (as instructed by her over the phone so that Alexis would make sure to get right in and out) that Alexis had a heart problem and had been to the vet the day before and wasn't herself that morning. Remember on my "FIRST VISIT" and preliminary inquiries Cora and her staff were wonderful, very concerned for my pet, pet loving people that seemed understanding of the owners feelings also. I was very disappointed and upset yesterday at my treatment. Not only does Alexis look entirely different than she has ever looked (with short ears), the bows that they put in her ears fell out before I got off of the phone with Cora. Alexis' ears have always been her "trademark". Everyone has always commented on her long ears and her bows. Now she has neither. She was always dressed for the ocassions. I did say that I didn't care what color they used as long as they matched toenail polish to bows, but I have to say that this is the first time that I have ever taken her to have her groomed when its close to a holiday such as 4th of July (red, white, blue) and the color they choose is orange. I have found that usually when a groomer asks that question near a holiday its because they like to "decorate" the poodle for the occasion and want to make sure its ok. It really is hard moving to a new area and trying to find a new groomer, especially for an older pet. I really thought I had found a great one when I found Helens. They did tell me yesterday when I called that they groomed over 100 dogs a day so maybe they are taking on too many to be on a personal level. My Alexis is like my child and I do notice everything about her. I didn't appreciate being talked to or treated the way I was when I called. I did not deserve to be hung up on. It was not by mistake and Cora has my phone number. I did not call back because I did not know what to say to people that were being so rude, but I would like to know why the difference in price if I requested the same service as before. I do not feel that I should have to pay for the service I received yesterday, the cut looks uneven, her nails were not trimmed and Alexis does not even have bows in her short ears!

PROS:
CONS: too busy for personal/individual attention

Being new to Greenvile, I ask my neighbors and friends where they take the dogs for grooming. Heard nothing but glowing things about Helens. Went there and met with the owner Cora, not only was she very helpful, but you could tell she knew her stuff when it came to animals. The groomers were warm and very caring to the animals. Having called around to check prices I found the Helens had them all beat. Sparky had the time of his life when he went. Cora's daughter told me how wonderful Sparky was to play with. I highly recommend this establishment to all!!! Its great to see people who enjoy what they do, and it shows with the care the animal recieves

PROS: Kind, caring and very animal friendly!
CONS: None

Helen's has great prices on dog groming as well as boarding. Dogs seem to be well cared for and happy when they leave. The boarding includes having the dogs taken out and walked several times a day, unlike most. I would recommend.
