Tuesday nights at Fryes are a combination of roller derby, smash up derby and keep-away. It is dollar night on Tuesdays and the place is packed, but very lax on order. It is a good place to get a younger, inexperienced skater run over.

Its sad when your 13 yr old son goes to the skating rink every weekend and is on the speed team and this one particular weekend he get jumped by 6 or more older hispanics. Nobody including the staff and the secruity did anything to help or prevent the situation when he had already mentions that he had a bad feeling about those boys. They deputy on duty said he took names and i was never told names to press charges. The staff and secruity are now trying to blame my kid the victim for the assults that happened on him. I believe they should be more respectful to a victim instead of treating him like a suspect.

I can't believe that on saturday night my daughter got kicked out while attending a birthday party,, by the manager for not renting skates after the parent who dropped them off payed admission for 5 girls 11 years old.. my daughter did forget her socks, and wasnt going to put on the rental skates without any socks,, cant blame her there,, so he put my girls at risk,, kicking them out ,, now,, somethings gotta change, i tried to talk to him over the phone when i found out..he said it was policy that they must rent skates or get out on fridays and saturdays but yet they have 2 diffrent prices..one for addmision and one for skates, they always have had 2 proces.. i tried to mention how about on those nights ,just have one price, and that just took 5 seconds of my time to think of..., instead of setting these children up to be kicked out, well my daughter ended up walking to a store and buying a pair of socks for her and another friend that forgot hers as well,,and returned and rented skates,,, I dont want this situation to happen to anyones elses children.. i dont care how old they are... you just dont put them into that kinda situation.. im truley disappointed in the type of manager you have at the concord, nc location...this probably isnt the last time im saying this piece,, im thinking of calling the papers or the news..just really disappointed at the whole situation...

Frye's is your typical older roller rink. Same food and atmosphere you will remember from being a child.

Frye's is your typical older skating rink. You still have a great time and it is very remincent of your childhood. My daughter was 2 and had a great time skating!

Every weekend during the years 1979 to 1982, I spent backwards skating, speed skating and couples skating (yeah, I was too young) at Frye's. Fast forward 25 years and the place has not changed a bit. I recently took my 6 year old to skate night through his school. I stepped through those doors and back into the 80's. Same everything- even the carpet!

Now that's not to say that's a bad thing. The kids still enjoy it just like we did way back then. They still have the aracde (more updated games, I think) and the grill with pizza and burgers. They still have the DJ spinning the tunes (I'd rather hear the old ones). And they still have

Skating at Frye's is relatively inexpensive- $5 admission and $1 skate rental. You can bring your own skates or rollerbaldes. Some extras- Frye's offers birthday parties and skating lessons, but of which we have taken advantage of.

PROS: nothing has changed over the years
CONS: nothing has changed over the years
