Unfortunately this place has been going down over the years. They used to have very good food but over the past few years, every time I go it's been getting worse and today was really bad. My HOT ginger green tea was barely warm and after

What's not to love about this place ?!!!

We are originally from New York City and relocating to the famed Triangle posed a conundrum for us foodies...My wife read about Lee ( the pleasant owner ) and about DALAT 3 years ago, and ever since we relocated, she and her niece Cindy have been our friends.

The charming Asian hospitality, attention to comfort and details of taste will attract you to this establishment. It's like having your mom or big sister spoil you while you are eating ( which Asians are known to become around the dining table )

By the way, I am biased because I am Asian. But I ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEE the readers, this is a MUST STOP when you have that craving for Pho or any other Asian cuisine...

SO GO GET YOUR KEYS AND DRIVE PEOPLE !

This a perfect place to get some delicious food. They have a wide variety on the menu and service is pretty satisfactory. The Vietnamese food here is awesome and has a good enough menu for veggies also.

I visit Dalat regularly for lunch and always leave satisfied. The Vietnamese food is really good, and the Chicken Chili with Lemon Grass is great. Variable spiciness, and a TON of choices on the menu. The Vietnamese subs are fantastic as well, with the BBQ meatball deluxe as my favorite. The Chinese menu is decent as well, though the Vietnamese is vastly superior. Service is generally good, and the atmosphere is alright, but it's a bit dark in the restaurant.

I have been eating here for 9 years. The staff is friendly and helpful and the food has never disapointed. I recommend this restaurant to anyone. I have never seen unsightly or below par atmosphere. Very good.

We have been to this restaurant twice, the second time against our better judgment.

Both times, the tables were sticky, flies were all over the place, the menu was limited, the food was not good and the service was hectic.

The second experience was by far the worst.: When I asked the waitress whether a certain dish had wheat in it, she started arguing that rice is wheat and would not go ask the chef . Eventually she came back and said that there is no wheat in the dish but I still didn't trust that she even understood the question.

Very disappointed by take out meal. I'm no expert on this kind of thing but I am a vegetarian so I order a lot of 'tofu with veggies"-like meals. This evenings was a complete waste of money. The tofu has a completely unnatural fleshy color, all the pieces are soggy, and have the appearance of tripe. The veggies - broccoli and carrot slices - are overcooked and discolored. I took about half a sip of the egg-drop soup and that was all I could stand. The fried veggie roll appetizers were their only saving grace and I wish I just spent my money on more of those. But! I did just have a deja vu that included this food from a dream I had like 7 years ago, so that's pretty cool. People seem to really like Delat. From this one meal it'll be awhile before I go back.

My family and I have eaten at Dalat for almost 10 years. The Vietnamese food there are excellent, the staffs are very nice and friendly. They always remember us and know what we like. However, the owner is very short and talk too much. She is crazy in my eyes. The young lady works there is very nice.

We ate here tonight with some friends. The reviews out there that the restaurant is filthy and waiters are rude are untrue. I saw no ants or ro*ches and everyone was really helpful. Our waiter seemed a bit confused, but he promptly got the owner to be our waitress. She was very helpful in helping us choose vegan dishes. She was very friendly, upbeat and quite frankly, hilarious. She was the highlight of our evening. She also let us know that the "tofu crepes" on the menu are made with rice flour, and that the only thing eggy about them was the egg color. So they are vegan. We did not try them though.

We all shared the dalat rolls with tofu, Tofu with Lemongrass on Vermicelli, Tofu with Chili and Lemongrass, Grilled tofu with vermicelli and the famous tofu sub. I think we got the grilled tofu sub when what we should have gotten was the marinated tofu sub, but it was still very good, and had a chicken-like consistency as did the grilled tofu with vermicelli. Overall, the concensus was that the Tofu with Chili and Lemongrass was the best dish. I would definitely go back to try more entrees.

NOTE: They are closed Sundays

An infestation would be putting it moderately. Several times I have first hand witnessed customers find an insect here or there in their meal. In the back inside the walls, they literally are crawling with invaders, in defense of the owner it is quite the undertaking, although she will never put out the money that is needed to properly sanitize and put the issue to rest. She has tried many times to use over the counter bombs but even in the midst of this attack of hers there were insects falling from the top of the hood fan over the cooking area into you know where.......Also stay away from the egg drop soup it may just be a bath for our antenae wearing friends. Another hint I could provide relates directly to tipping. Now an unknown fact is that her wait staff does not see the tip money customers leave them. She pays her staff 7 to 9 dollars an hr under the table and takes the money off the tables and into her purse. Finally her kitchen staff is entirely made up of illegal mexicans whom she exploits almost as much as her customer base. She sells low quality food at a high mark up while failing to properly upkeep and reinvest in her business. Notice how fast the bar concept died there. check out the wake county health inspection report.

My girlfriend and I have been eating at Dalat for years and it has proven to be a safe bet on those nights when we just don't know where we want to eat. I can only speak to the vegetarian dishes, but their tofu is always good - even if the pieces are big enough to be unwieldy in chopsticks. There's enough variety on the menu to ensure that you don't always have to get the same thing - I've yet to get sick of any one dish. I've always found the staff to be aggreeable and the food generally arrives within minutes of our placing our order. I can recommend the vegetarian spring rolls and the tofu sub is exceptional. In actually thinking about it, I don't know why we don't eat there more often.

We have eaten at Dalat as a family for over 10 years and it has the best vietnamese hands down in the triangle. While inexpensive this family run place has always delivered consistent excellent Vietnamese dishes; try their various rice vermicelli dishes, vegetarian tofu with tomato and lemongrass and their vietnamese coffee.

It is true some of wait staff is rather bland in service and friendliness but meet the owner and you will find a cheery person thankful for your business and with a penchant to please the customer.

This was my favorite restaurant with the previous owners. I have not been back here much since the restaurant was sold but I see that it is always crowded and I always hear good things about the food. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are a fan of authentic and delicious Vietnamese food.

I've been going to Dalat since, sheesh, when did it open??

Not only is the food fantastic, but the staff always remembers me when I come in. Very friendly.

I lived out of state for 5 years and every time I came through town, I made sure to stop in. The owner always remembered me. Now that I'm back in town, I go at least a couple times a month. The food is as good as ever.

I don't know if it's great Vietnamese food, but I know it's fabulous!

Coming from southern California, I'm used to an extensive selection of Vietnamese restaurants. My boyfriend and I decided to try Dalat because we were in the mood for Vietnamese food and the place received good reviews. The food is authentic and the menu offers a varietyof dishes. However, a young lady who works there is clueless about customer service. The whole time we were there, we didn't get a single "please", "thank you", or smile from her! When we asked for the bill, she set it down on our table and instructed us to "pay at the front." It was a direct order rather than a request. She acted like she was doing us a favor! The owner of the restaurant was really nice, though. Because of the service we received, we're not going back, especially when I can go to my mother's house for good Vietnemese food.

I've been going to Dalat for several years now and always enjoy it. I especially love the banh xeo (Vietnamese crepe). The noodle dishes are excellent, too. Many of my friends love the cold spring rolls; I don't care for them just because this dish isn't a favorite of mine at ANY Vietnamese restaurant (I don't like the mint), but my friends who do love them say the ones at Dalat are especially good. I've never had the rude service the CitySearch review suggests -- the servers are always pleasant and capable. The atmosphere is strip mall plain, but comfortable. A great restaurant!

Been going to dalat for > 10 yrs. IMHO, food quality has gone down since they moved from the little hole in the wall in the same shop center. Grilled chicken lemongrass used to be my fav meal in Raleigh, now it is variable. I guess its the price of expansion, now the #1 chef/owner is too busy opening new restaurant to cook!

Green Papaya & Dalat ROCK!!!
I have been a long time Dalat patron and have always been very pleased (my family eats there at least twice a week). The GREEN PAPAYA in Cary is a very welcome addition. The menu has all the favorites of Dalat and much more. For new comers to this cuisine....try Grilled Chicken with Lemon Grass or if you like it spicy...try Spicy Basil Chicken, or Chili with Lemon Grass flavor. Soups are always a traditional favorite. Expand your horizons and try either location NOW!!!!!!

The Vietnamese spring rolls are excellent- both fried and not fried. The peanut dipping sauce here is red, unlike the hoisin-based peanut sauce at Pho Cali- but it's still very good. The Dalat vermicelli with pork and spring rolls is delicious. Didn't care for the Vietnamese pork crepes though. We like their new restaurant (Green Papaya) better than the original- nicer restaurant with better menu. The grilled shrimp-wrapped sugar cane was awesome! And so was the beef with green beans.

We just absolutely love their fresh spring rolls. When the recipe for this delicious morsels appeared in the N&O we couldn't believe our luck, but we still prefer to go to Dalat and tickle our taste buds with these culinary wonders. We have enjoyed everything we've ordered from their Vietnamese and Chinese menu, so as far as we're concerned, you can't go wrong when it comes to Asian food at Dalat!

I've been eating here for years and I'm never disappointed. The staff are very friendly, the food is very good, and the prices are more than reasonable. For those wondering about the review saying there is an infestation in the restaurant... it's totally untrue. They had an inspection in last month and there was NO reference to any infestations. They got dinged for having to clean up a bit. Their review can be found on the Wake Gov Web site.
