I don't eat sushi but my husbands swears this place is the best. I am sold on the salad with ginger dressing, miso soup, terayaki chicken and the Chicken Goma. Great decor, location, service and food. And the prices are right!

This was the worst place I have ever eaten at. We went for lunch had a take out & it was horrible. The salad was brown & nasty. I had the hibachi combo & I have never had shrimp that tasted OLD & hard. The white sauce first of all is orange & it was too sweet & the rice (a lb & a half of it was NASTY). O my and the carrots way too big & not done. The steak had no favor but was the best thing in the plate. We call back & spoke with management who informed us that the salads are made fresh every day at which time 4am because clearly the one we all had were from 3 days ago. All I can say is will NEVER EVER GO BACK. I should have know with a rating of 93% but my girls wanted Japanese. Bad choice BAD PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Poor management skills!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Three co-worker and myself were in on 04.08.10
and had a to go order. servicer was pleasant but
after returning to work and to eat our food it was awful
the steak habachi /shrimp habachi/steak and shrimp comb was the WORST.... our salad was yellow. I called and spoke with the manager and his reply was to bring it back. for one i was on lunch break and secondly i don't live in area to bring back after work. WE have a huge office that is always looking for good food but this tokyo house won' t be one that we will visit nor recommend.

Take this from an asian, never eat their raw fish. I eat a lot of sushi and this is by far the worst sushi i've ever had. When the fish tastes fishy, that means its gone bad and should not be eaten raw. I ate 2 pieces and left. I can't vouch for their other foods, but NEVER eat their raw fish. I wouldn't be surprised if people get sick from their food. The people leaving good reviews obviously have never had real sushi.

I signed up on this website just to warn people not to eat the raw fish.

I love going here for dinner. It's great for a romantic dinner or for family dinner. We mostly order take out sushi because their sushi chef is fantastic. Highly recommend.

It helps that it's very close to our house but this is by far our favorite sushi place and we've eaten at a lot of different ones in Raleigh.

The wait staff can be a bit overwhelmed at times when it's really busy but it's not their fault. On occasion it seems like they could use more help but that is usually the exception to the rule.

The fish has always been fresh in the sushi and I don't recall ever having a bad experience there. We have never ordered off the regular menu other than soup and the house salad, which is exceptional IMO.

Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

We have eaten many relaxing meals here. The hibachi chicken is delicious and the chef is willing to prepare it low salt for me. The tempura is a real treat and my fiance enjoys the sushi. For a real treat we have green tea ice cream or the friend banana.

Our family has eaten at Toyko house for many years. It is a comfortable, homey neighborhood sushi bar. The staff/chefs are very friendly and helpful and the food is usually good. On one occasion, we did encounter lukewarm sushi. Sushi must be chilled! Otherwise, we have been pleased with each experience. The tempura is delicious, as is the lo mein, kids' favorite. As with most sushi bars, eating at lunch is more economical.

I go often with coworkers. I've only had their miso soup (excellent), house salad (decent- not great), seaweed salad (excellent), drunken noodles (it was lacking in sauce) and Pad Thai. The Pad Thai is... odd. It tastes and looks like they use tomato paste in it. As far as the Japanese dishes go, mine were excellent and my coworkers like them. Everything else seems to be "off" and a little on the salty side. Overall I can recommend trying it, especially since it looks like they make excellent sushi!

Cons: Good service, good Japanese food

I have been going to Tokyo House for years - at least the past 6. The food is always fantastic, as is the service. It's kid-friendly enough that I've brought my 3-year-old son (who loves their Japanese food). I go back over and over again and would choose this place above the "bigger name" places like Waraji or Sushi Blues. If you haven't tried it, you really need to. The Spider Roll is my absolute favorite item on the menu!

It may not have the sleek decor or attitude of Sushi Blues and Waraji, but I think you get much better food and service. The owners have also redone the place over the past year or so and changed the menu to include more Thai offerings. best age dashi tofu in Raleigh. Waitress Connie is great!

This is one of the best sushi restaurants in North Carolina. The food is fresh and delicious. The staff is wonderful. They remodeled about a year ago and I think the atmosphere is relaxing. It's my children's favorite restaurant. There are two private, curtained sushi rooms where you can sit on the floor in traditional Japanese style. There is a convenient hollow space beneath the table for those who can no longer sit with bent knees on the floor. The restaurant suggests that if you are interested in the private rooms (which are for parties of 4 or more), call the day before. The menu is varied and there are great selections even for those who do not care for sushi. Their Chinese and Thai dishes are superb. Try the oolong fish! They also have several wonderfully prepared ramen noodle dishes (very unlike what the teens make at home). Once or twice its been so crowded that we chose not to wait, but usually it's not really bad. They stay open later than many local restaurants. The location is convenient in North Raleigh and there is plenty of parking. We have never had a bad experience at this restaurant and have been eating there for several years.

I tried this restaurant out the other night. It was SO great. I ordered regular sashimi which came with salad & soup. The sashimi came out very quickly and it was very fresh!! i have had the hardest time finding a good quality sushi restaurant... and finally i found one! The staff was very friendly also! By the way, i went on a Friday night at 7:30 and there was absolutely no wait!

I never really cared for sushi or sashimi until a friend of mine recommended the Tokyo House. The fish is always fresh and firm, the presentation artistic. (We particularly like the Spider, Crunchy, and Dragon rolls.) A small place, we like to sit at the sushi bar itself and watch the chefs at work. For a nice light appetizer try the Princess WonTon Soup - excellent! I have also had the Seafood Ramen - what a meal! The ambience isn't bad, but it is squeezed into a strip center, so don't expect too much luxury. They do have some very nice Japanese-style dining rooms for 4 or more, but these require reservations. Overall, I highly recommend the Tokyo House.

I have just moved to Raleigh and looking for a good Sushi restaurant. I ate at Tokyo House on Thursday night. Tuna is very fresh. I use it to judge how good the fish is for the Japanese Resturant. So did the yellowtail and Salmon. That really give a deep impression. Most of the place I go, they use frozen tuna, iy lookd bloody red and doesn' t have any fish flavor. A lot of veriety for Sushi as well as the kitchen menu. I surprisely found they even offer Remen. Waitstaff told me that noodle was fresh frozen and shipped from Tokyo. No wonder the House Special Reman is so tasty. The price consider pretty fair. My husband and I spent about $40 .The qantity and the quality is beyond our expectation. I highly recomended. Try the Spider Roll. The best kept secret.

I recently discovered Tokyo House and really like it. The Sushi is consistently good. The service is fine, and it's never prohibitively crowded. My friends and I take our preschool age daughters there for lunch often and they are always welcomed. It's good for families, business, or couples.

Been eating there about once a month for the last year. Always excellent food and out of all those visits only had 'iffy' service one time. Entrees are very good and the selections broad enough to please even the most finicky eater. Took my husband's entire family there over christmas holiday (none of them had eaten Japanese food before) and all of them loved it. They even have 2 private party rooms. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Went to eat on a Monday evening with my two small children. Only 3 other tables seated in the whole restaurant. I was sat away from the other tables. As I was eady to order, a Sushi chef yelled across the restaurant to my waiter. The waiter told me I needed to contain my children. My son was playing with a plastic toy on the table & was making too much noise. My other child was in a high chair, not real sure how much more I could contain her? I understand people want to eat in peace, but my children were not running around yelling, they were sitting next to me playing with toys. If they were being loud the waiter could have quietly asked me to keep them quiet, instead of the Sushi Chef yelling across the restaurant in another language. It was very embarassing so I left.

I travel a lot around the country on business and I like searching out great sushi restaurants. I've eaten at some really great places and was VERY surprised to find that we have one of the best sushi restaurants in the country right in our own back yard.

Raleigh has a few places to get sushi and they're pretty good - a couple are excellent. But Tokyo House is easily the best. Very creative rolls, fresh ingredients, and a pleasant, inviting bar.

It's a little more expensive than some of the other places (but only a little bit more expensive), but if you're going to get sushi, why waste your money on something of far less quality?

One complaint: You have to have 4 people to use the tatami room.

We highly recommend Tokyo House! It's a traditional Japanese restaurant in the center of a strip mall in North Raleigh! Sushi is primarily what we order here, along with miso soup and japanese salad. If you are a soft-shell crab lover, there always in season here! The food is beautifully prepared at the bar and most importantly for regular customers it's CONSISTENTLY delicious! Our children enjoy dining here as well. It is a wonderful restaurant to bring children. They can see their food being prepared and revel in the challenge of using chopsticks! Oh, and don't forget all the noodle dishes available if your little ones won't eat sushi.

I live nearly 2 hours away from Raleigh but this is the only place I will go to have a true sushi fix. I am also Japanese and this is the best sushi that I have found in the area--it's not trendy, it's traditional. I have always had the freshest sushi and the service has always been above average. I've been eating there for years now and when I briefly moved out of state, I made it a point to plan my trips home through Raleigh so I could have lunch there.

Prices are the best for any sushi place in Raleigh. In addition, the owners are cool, they will know you by name after a few visits, ask the owner how he lost his fingers....he has great stories. The best rolls and the freshest tuna - yum. I just moved from NYC, where the restaurants are divine, this place definitely suits all.
