This place attempts to have style, but is as completely uncool as any k-mart hair cutting place, where all they know how to do is shave guy's heads to 1/16th of an inch of hair. I'm from california and I've been through the south's neo nazi idea of haircuts twice before , in which they shaved my long hair off because they're inbred nazis with scissors and clippers around here- so i thought i'd try paying more for something far better than that routine. of course this was not the place to go at all. with five pictures of what i was after - nothing too complicated either- showing how i wanted it cut and how i didn't want it cut specifically, the idiot who cut my hair destroyed it like a freak with scissors and clippers. I've never seen more of a mistake haircut in my life, and i'll probably have to shave my head to 1/16th of an inch bald again just to fix what kind of atrocity the idiot left me with. it's beyond offensive. exactly what i told her not to do she did like a monkey with scissors would. in fact there's no school of hair cutting that could allow this haircut to exist- it's so destroyed it's i've never even seen a worse attempt to cut hair by man or beast. although the place didn't charge after ruining my hair, they should have given me $25 on the way out for the insult. if you like cops , fanatical insane preachers, lawyers and other fascists step right in to this idiot corner of asheville and see what they do with scissors on your head. no review can describe the complete disgust i have at the complete lack of skill and style exhibited at this place.

Hands down a very good salon. Some of the newest trends that you would see in New York or Miami are performed at this salon. There is a parking deck right next to the salon, and if you park on the street someone will run out and put change

I usually don't write reviews, but I feel the need to share my experiences with this salon. The first time that I went in, I asked the stylist for a simple trim, and she created multiple, harsh layers in my hair. It was so bad that I went back for a "fix" with another stylist. This second stylist was apologetic and seemed to understand my frustration, and actually did an okay job on my hair, considering the state that it was in, so I scheduled with her again. Apparently, she was trying extra hard on our first visit because the next two times I saw her, she created even more layers, when I specifically said not to, and she even shaved the back of my head! No one has EVER done that to me before. She must have gone so short that she had no choice. When I confronted her on how uneven my hair looked at the end of our last cut, she acted like she couldn't see what I was talking about. Needless to say, I have not been back and thankfully, my hair is finally returning to normal. This salon is expensive and, at least the two stylists that I saw, had absolutely no clue how to work with curly hair. There is no parking, and I found the atmosphere in the salon to be quite pretentious. Save your money and go elsewhere!!!

After several bad experiences in other salons, I was understandably nervous before my appointment at Ananda. From beginning to end, the visit proved to be one of the best I've ever had.
The receptionist was very personable and professional. I've never been asked detailed questions about my hair before actually sitting down with the stylist. It was refreshing to be paired up with the best stylist for me, rather than the next available one.
Master Stylist Sandy Clark was fabulous! She was so calm and quiet. She wasn't impatient or rushed. For the first time in months, I LOVE my haircut.
If there was a downside, it was pricier than what I expected. But it was well worth it. I will cheerfully plunk down again what I paid, in return for the awesome service.

My experience as one of theirs customer for about 6 or 7 months.
PROS: OKAY cuts. GOOD w/ coloring, esp hi-lights.
CONS: VERY expensive!
NO parking!!Be prepared to drive around & around to find a parking space. I never could but always had to pay to park in a nearby lot. Cost adds up quickly!
STUPID cancellation polices . When I called to cancel the last app't I had with them I was told I could NO LONGER make any app'ts w/ them because I had cancelled 3 times during the 6-7 months that I had been their customer. They wouldn't listen to my reasons or let me explain, even though I always called at least 1-2 days in advance to give notice.
RUDE attitude. Very offensive & arrogant.Treating me as if I had committed some big crime.
There are plenty of other salons in the area that will truely appreciate your business-my advise is to find one.

Living in Asheville my husband & I both came here to have our hair done. My hair is difficult but it always looked great when I left the studio. Vibrant space with gifted staff. Larry & Michelle were welcoming presences who also gave local artists an opportunity to have their work shown. I had my first show there. We'll be back from the west coast someday.

My stylist is Brett Tucker and let me tell you, he is the absolute best in the business! Yes, they are more expensive than the last place I was going, but for the amount of attention and friendliness you receive, it's totally worth it! My hair was fried from highlighting it. When I walked out of my appointment, my hair felt like silk! I have never been so indulged when it comes to my hair. Definitely going back again and again! So worth the money!

I don??t normally take the time write comments but I had a great experience at Ananda that I just have to share. We recently moved to Asheville from Cincinnati, where for 10 years I was lucky enough to experience an upscale salon with a top-notch stylist. I was terrified to try a salon in a smaller town like Asheville so I started asking around and Ananda Studio was mentioned several times. I went for cut and color and I have to say that I am happier with my hair than ever before! They have separate stylists and colorists so you can pick and choose according to your desires. I looked at their website to learn about each one. They also have this great product line called Davines. If you have problems with dry or frizzy hair, try the MoMo. It was a miracle me! They give upscale service but they aren??t stuffy. I found them to be a perfect representation of the cool energy that draws you to Asheville in the first place. I can see why their name comes up when you ask around. They are excellent!

I went to Ananda to correct a bad color job. Not only did they correct my color, but I got the best haircut of my life. The space is very open and the staff is friendly. There is different art on the walls every time I visit, which is a nice plus. The are expensive, depending on who you visit.

PROS: Great cut, great color, good products
CONS: Expensive
