I've been to this restaurant more times than I should have - mostly because of its pleasant atmosphere. Don't be fooled by the looks though, the service is slow and the food will make you question whether it's safe to eat. On two occasions, my girlfriend and I had to wait over five minutes just to be greeted by the hostess. We've been told that there is a thirty minute wait, while there are empty tables and an army of waitresses chit-chatting in the back. I have received stone-cold soup, asked to have new soup that's edible, and received more cold soup. Service is slow and apathetic - don't ruffle their feathers by asking for any condiments, they'll treat you to a nice long wait.

If you're looking for classy restaurants, stay away!

I am new to the area, and I was pleasantly surprised to find The Daily Grind. The paninis are excellent, everything else I have seen looks great too. And don't get me started about that dessert case! Forget coffee, I definitely go to this spot for the food and the comfortable atmosphere.

We have eaten here many times and held several parties in their meeting room but we will not be back. We have noticed the service and food quality slide but kept coming back in hopes that each time was a fluke. This weekend we held a baby shower in the meeting room. A person was in the room lighting candles when we arrived but didn't speak to us. When someone finally spoke to us, it was the owner who was angry that her employee hadn't left the correct notes about how we wanted the room setup and our food choices. She and the entire staff acted as if we were a bother. I had to search for the waitress every time we needed her and the attitude we received was horrible. We asked for napkins and received a stack of unfolded huge napkins that had chocolate drizzled all over them. The food was brought out 20 minutes prior to party time and was so cold when the party started it had to be sent back. We never got silverware so everything had to be eaten with our fingers... This list goes on and on. But we will not be back -- we asked to speak with the owner several times and she never came out to address us.

This place used to be great, but has really gone downhill. Our service was horrible, the salad came out with the dinner, there was a piece of plastic in my food that no one working there seemed overly concerned about, the food was not very good (or hot), and dessert was stale. I called today to speak with a manager, and she couldn't have cared less. I will NOT be back. There are better places in Greenville!

I love the daily grind cafe, because this is a restaurant that is laid back and very pleasent. Their aren't too many real nice restaurants in Greenville that offer good quality food with a nice quality establishment. This place has it both, and for a very good price!!

Save room for desert too.. Best in Town!

In Greenville, it is rare to find a place that one can enjoy the perfect combination of classy ambiance, great food, drinks, and service for the price one pays.

The wait staff is extremely attentive, whether sitting at the bar or dining in the main restaurant. My glass has never run empty.

For dining, the menu offers different views from "normal" cuisine, such as their wasabi salmon. My favorite dish is an open face Prime Rib sandwich (large, juicy, and made to your liking) with an au jus like none i've ever had- just the right consistency and flavor.

For desert and drink, select from the many varieties of cheesecake and martinis, respectively.

One may think that for all of this, the price would be phenomenal, but it truly is affordable. For my prime rib sandwich, martini, cheesecake, and tip, I still was able to leave spending well under $20.

PROS: quality, ambiance, food, drink,
CONS: "daily grind" sounds like a coffee shop, not a high caliber restaurant
