The Colony Theatre

by Julie S. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,900

This is one of the few theaters that you can catch independent films at. Don't wait too long for a film as you never know how long it will be there. I have missed several by not going right away. Nothing fancy but very comfortable and clean.

The ONLY place to see a movie

by Sean C. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 10,286

This is not a normal theater in the sense that they show Top 10 films. They show cult/indie movies mostly, and frequently have theme weeks. This is the only theater where you can find Gift, Harold and Maude, The Shining, etc on the big screen. Plus they serve food and beer too!!

A theater with balls

by Emily P. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,665

From the same people who brought you the rialto....we present the colony. The colony will show the movies, that no one else dares to. If it has a political undertone, or has teed off some large portion of america...then you can see it here, and only here. The colony does what every other theater only wishes they could...

The colony is also pretty old, so don't come looking for a delux sound system or fancy seating...you can have a drink, and enjoy a great film.

The Colony-A good place to catch an Indy flick

by Amy G. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,138

My favorite Indy movie theatre is the Rialto, but the Colony is a close second. They usually show movies that you cannot see anywhere else. The seats are comfortable, the staff is friendly and you can enjoy an adult beverage while you watch your film. The area is kind of sketchy, so don't hang around outside the theatre after the movie is over.
