The Dancer is an okay store. This store is large for the space in itself, however this store does not have a lot of what a good competitive dancer would need. This store has a pretty good selection of pointe shoes. however has limited brands of other shoes such as jazz, and regular ballet slippers. I did not see any lyrical shoes, and I also observed a limited quantity of hip hop shoes or sneakers. This store is terrible for actual dance wear, as the selections are so small, you would think they were a clearance section in pretty much all of the sizes. They offer a handful of leotards in every size, however they basically offer the starter or "basics" in color and style. They have classic leotards, and spaghetti strapped leotards; long sleeve and short sleeve, but pretty much only offer black, a few light pinks, and occasionally you may find a blue one in your size if you're lucky.

They have an okay selection of shorts, pants and capris, however you will pay full price and through the roof for them. It's not unreasonable to say most of their leotards range from 20 bucks all the way to mid 30's. The average leotard running you about 28 bucks before tax. Their shorts are all high priced around 20-30 bucks, and I didn't see any pants that were less than 30 dollars. Occasionally they will offer a sale on their shoes, but normally these are shoes that are lower quality brands anyway, and ones I would never buy. I didn't see any makeup, costumes, or competition gear for any age at all! I think they had a small bag for sale, hardly any hair or dance accessories, and no gymnastics, or cheerleading gear is sold here as a previous review said they did.

Really this is an okay store for a beginner dancer to get you started with the bare minimal and basic essentials, such as a plain leotard some tights, and a basic pair of shoes. If you are an advent dancer, a competitive dancer, a professional dancer or dance more than classical ballet, I would NOT recommend this store for you.

When I went, I purchased a leotard, 3 pairs of tights, and a pair of ballet classical pink slippers and a pair of shorts and spent close to $180.00! Releve' in Cary, NC is a much better store, and Raleigh offers a large variety of stores, options and selections. Also, check online for dancewear. This store has hardly any cute dance sets, or pieces for a good dancer. The staff was friendly and helpful, but this doesn't take away from the fact that their selections are limited.

The Dancer is a large store, But they do not carry what most dancers need, they say they have all sizes & they don't, it's a $25.00 shoe fitting fee they say goes to your shoe but what if your shoe is only $15.00? I had to get my child 2pairs of shoes total came out to $75.00! I should have gone to Miss Blume's shop it would have only been $30.00 for the same shoes! & The Dancer's return policy SUCKS! if they do take it back you can only have store credit wtf! Will never go there again.

I have been shopping at The Dancer for years and my friend is an employee there. I know for a fact that you do not need an appointment to be fitted for basic shoes. You do have to make an appointment to fit for POINTE shoes. Since it takes up to 30 mins and some of the staff is still in training for pointe shoes. I can see why they would make you make an appointment. They have always been friendly and they have great finds!

I loved this store! The sales people were fabulous and took lots of time to help us with shoes, leotards, tights, everything. I will definitely be a regular here and will not mind driving the 1/2 hour to get to the store. Customer service is worth a LOT! I thought the price for the quality merchandise was reasonable and I would definitely recommend The Dancer to anyone in the Fayetteville area.

We took my daughter to be fit for ballet shoes and tap shoes. The staff was very helpful and took time to help us find just the right size. My only complaint was there lack of tights and dancewear in smaller sizes.

You must have an appointment to buy toe shoes even if you don't want help. Even on Saturday, you must give them a time that you will be there so that you can have someone help you buy shoes. This is not practical for everyone. Some people know what shoes they need and don't need help. I used to drive an hour to shop at this store. Now, I will never go back.

The Dancer has everything you could possibly need for young and older dancers. With a wide variety of leotards, point shoes, ballet slippers and Jazz shoes. The Dancer is also a wonderful place to find cheerleading supplies.
