Do not go for brunch
by gtn
I have been here in the past for pizza only and thougt it was great. Went for brunch today and was not good at all. We had to wait at front for a long time to be seated. Took forever for someone to come to out table then forever to take out order. The menu does not say that grits are cheese grits--and they are loaded with cheese. The eggs were cold and steak that was ordered med. rare, but was very rare (I am in the restaurant bus. and I know how a steak should be cooked). Overall, the service and food was a 2 at best. I would not recomened this place at all. I hope there is a better place for brunch in this town.

Excellent food and service
by ajordan705
I had dinner at the Point this past Friday with some friends from out of town. We had the Prime Rib, Manzanita Pasta and Blackened Mahi Mahi. The food was excellent. The Prime Rib was a bargain at $17. The pasta very unique and blackened mahi was delicious with the cheddar cheese grits and spinach. The service was also excellent. The server was very tentative to our needs. I will definitely be back again.
Pros: Quality of food and service
Cons: A little noisy

good location, bad smells
by letmetellya
'the point' is located in 5points which has a lot of character but you cant tell your in a historical place from the inside because it looks more like a chain restaurant (the exception is the wood fired oven) There are plenty of good beers on tap and some of them are also local beers. The bar is next to the dining area and the smoke easily wafts over such that they might as well be sitting next to you and exhaling in your face as you eat. This might not bother you if your a heavy smoker, but if you can smell and taste and want to try some of the good food at 'the point', I suggest you get something to go and hold your breath while you pick it up.

Bad experience
by magsrule
My husband and I dined here at the beginning of August and our experience was awful. The food, the prices for what you received, the temperature, and the on duty manager contributed to the overall terrible experience. This was my first posting on this site because I usually give restaurants the benefit of the doubt on a first visit, but this was too much. Oddly enough, I posted such a comment and it has since been deleted (not by me). Makes you wonder how accurate these reviews are, huh?

Wonderful apology
by jenvinez
Since writing a poor review for this restaurant, we have receieved a very nice formal apology from the manager. I would now recommend this restaurant highly. Anyone can have a bad night, and the apology proved that the great service we had enjoyed previously is truly how they operate. The food is also delicious!
Pros: food, servers
Cons: a little warm

The Honest Truth from your Phantom Dinner
by phantomdinner
When going to the restaurant you need to look for the dirveway to park or you'll mis it.
When we went it was about 100 degree weather, so needless to say it was very warm inside. It cooled down but was still very warm.
Service was good, kept our drinks filled
Food service was very quick
Hot and Cold food was pretty good.
Bar was pretty close to dinning area but didn't bother us.
I would recomend this place and will be visiting again
4 Stars For Food and Service
1 less star for cleanliness ,comfort
Enjoy We Did!!!!!!
Pros: Good Service and Good Food
Cons: Was hot didn't seem to have good AC, And Parking Hidden

Enjoyed our visit, will be back!
by holly_lynn
Had never considered this place until we had a coupon incentive to try it out. Location is great (perfect if you want to incorporate a movie just next door!). Service was impeccable, really liked the manager and waiter, they were very conscious of our needs and friendly. Drinks were very reasonable and well-done. Food was great. Pizza was great. Cesear salads were great. Atmosphere is a bit more on the family side, but still lends to a decent date atmosphere, so can kind of go either way. Parking kind of lacks, as anywhere at Five Points. Not the least expensive place in town (although the martinis were very reasonable), but worth a few extra bucks for the good service and quality meal. Will definitely try again, hopefully another great experience.

Great Times at The Point
by flyhi
My wife and I Found this place simply by accident. We were going out for a movie and for dinner. As we were walking to the movie we saw the menu posted outside and noticed they have dinner for two and a bottle of wine for 32.95 every Wednesday. It was a Wednesday so we decided to stop in after the movie. Boy was it fantastic! I had the Grooper Romesco possibly the best fish I have ever had. Fresh grilled grooper topped with a sauce made from toasted almonds WOW!!! My wife had pizza Coquilles St. Jacques scallops, blue, crab, onions, mushrooms and a cream, mushroom port wine sauce. topped with swiss cheese. she said it was to die for. The staff was very friendly and the service was great. It has casual setting with up scale food at moderate prices. We will return. Cuddos to The Point.
Pros: food, staff, parking in back

A well kept secret in 5 points
by flimflamdoodly
I am new to the area and found a new and wonderful place to meet friends, have drinks or share a wonderful meal. The Point has a marvelous assortment of foods and drinks to select from-- there is something for everyone! I love the pizzas with homemade mozzarella. the lasagna is hard to beat, and the steaks will melt in your mouth. For pasta I found the manzanita exceptional --- WOW! I have loved everything I have tried there! Since I don't cook much I am there alot! The service is great, the food is excellent, and the staff makes everyone feel at home.
Pros: friendlness, Menu, value

getting better
by juniousmaximus
I have been into the restaurant formally known as Goodfella's a few times and I can honestly say it is really getting there...The first time I went it was kind of overpriced, and not that great. I decided to give it another try and it was better. I will go back. If you go sit at the bar, you will get better service.
Pros: portion size, friendly bartender
