This is a nice place to go if you have a couple of hours some afternoon or weekend. It chronicles the history of High Point and nearby areas, with lots of photos and artifacts. Outside, there are reconstructed historical buildings, including the Hoggart House, which depicts family life in early America. Very small children may get a bit bored, but seem to enjoy the full size bus cab in the museum. Additionally, the museum often has special events, such as historical re-enactors, craft activities, or pioneer cooking demonstrations.

We visited the High Point Museum recently and found it to be a targeted towards older children and adults. They have a lot of very interesting exhibits but our 3 year old got bored very quickly. We ended up taking shifts so that other could go through and read about the heritage and take in as much as possible. We did see a guided tour going on while there but you would have to call ahead to find out about that. The parking is great and the museum itself is very interesting. There is no charge to visit the museum and note they are closed on Mondays.
