I write this poor review with a very heavy heart. I am not a disgruntled parent. I am a very concerned mom who, like many parents, has been greatly deceived by this center. First of all, I would like to say that there ARE a handful of really great people working here, who generally care about the welfare and development of the children. HOWEVER, unless you are lucky enough to have your children only interact with those select few, the reality is that most classrooms are in really ROUGH shape. Most teachers do not hold degrees in early childhood development, and it shows.

Here is just a few of the many many concerns I discovered at this facility, when I took the time to truly take a look for myself at what was going on behind closed doors: (1) The director has little/no control over the staff. (2) Many of the staff have little/no concern for the growth or welfare of the children.

Examples of why I am concerned:
(1) Children can be seen throughout the classrooms and on the playgrounds in completely unsupervised situations. I have seen children crying inconsolably, with no reaction from teachers. I have seen children gang up on other children, with no interference from teachers. Teacher-to-teacher gossip/socializing seems to take precedence over basic child supervision.
(2) Children from multiple classrooms of differing ages should not be combined on the playground together. The physical and emotional development is too varied for this to take place, and the desire for teacher socializing opportunities should NOT trump this!
(3) Cell phone use is rampant among the employees. This is just ridiculous. There is no way that any adult who is actively responsible for a group of youngsters can justify they are able to do their job and keep up with personal text messages all day long.
(4) The staff turnover rate and the parent/child turnover rate is a clue that something is wrong here.
(5) The classroom management skills of many staff members is so far below par, that they resort to constant yelling and screaming at the children all day long, or have simply given up all together and no longer attempt to control the children at all. This is truly frightening.

Warning Signs:
Please learn from my mistake. Open your eyes and look for yourself. Is your child's teacher qualified? Do they care about your child? Do they take their job seriously? Does your child love to go into the classroom every morning??? Is your child clearly learning vital skills every day, as they should be?

Since we have moved our children to a different location, the change has been amazing! They love to go to daycare now, they are constantly sharing with us at home what they learn every day, and their whole demeanor is so much more calm and pleasant.

If you are considering this location, please reconsider.

If you currently attend, please open your eyes and be critical to what you see. Pop in for a half hour during the day and observe for yourself, from behind the mirror, what is really happening in the classroom. And remember, if another child is being neglected in any way, there is no reason to assume that your child wouldn't also experience that same neglect as well.

All I ask is that you don't take this center for face value, which is pretty painted walls and warm smiles behind the desk, but make sure it is truly living up to your expectations inside and out.

P.S. Unlike other poor reviews that have been dismissed as "fake" posts by bad employees at this center, please know that this is not that kind of review. I really am a parent who's children attended here for many years, and my review is as honest as I would hope everyone else's is on such matters.

Not only is mytimeflies2 not who she says she is but she is a disgruntled ex-employee who worked for all of about 2 weeks and didn't bother to show up for half of the days including her last one. Please do not waste your time on her nonsense remarks.

I found at first that the Children's Academy in Cary was a very educational and respectable day care. It was reasonably priced, and fit my work hours perfectly.

Then one day, I came to pick up my child early. The "teachers" were screaming at the children. Handling them roughly. I understand that children can be difficult, I have four. I would never, ever scream at my own children in this way, and would not expect a grown adult to treat MINE that way either. I observed the young toddlers, and a teacher that I have known there for over two years refers to a child as "retard". I'm not a super sensitive person, at all. I understand words have other meanings, however a RESPECTABLE adult calling a 1-2 year old child a retard? That is their most impressionable time. In no way is that acceptable.

I have yelled at my children. I have worked in day cares, and raised my voice. I have NEVER EVER heard, or expected to hear the kind of yelling, screaming, and scolding that I heard in this facility. The teachers were cussing, telling children that they were the "bane in their existence"...

My last point of many, the whole place is a facade. Teachers make "lesson plans" which are not followed. It's just a pretty picture painted for concerned parents. Teachers act kindly when parents are around, however if they do not know that you are there, their behavior is inappropriate, and I would never have my child treated that way, even as a tough parent.

Pros: Inexpensive, long hours

Cons: poor treatment of children, poorly run.

I love this facility! I wish my daughter could stay here until she's 18. The staff is so friendly and takes such good care of all of the children. My daughter is 3 years old and came home yesterday and told me that 3+5 is 8. She knows the names of all of the colors in Spanish and even knows her phone number. We have been at the center since my daughter was 7 months old and I won't take her anywhere else. You can tell that the staff cares about the kids in their class. I never worry when I leave my daughter because I know she is in good hands!

I love this daycare! The staff is so friendly and my 3 year old learns so much. His teacher is so attentive and organized. Everybody has a code to get in the front doors. I feel safe leaving my son. I have never had a problem with anything here. I am pregnant now and can't wait for my baby to attend also! Highly recommended!
