Ripped off!
by Alan C.
My wife and I and our 2 kids went as a family to see X-Men Wolverine. I didn't think the menu pricing was too bad - at first. A big 32 oz drink was about the same as a big drink at any other theater. I have to be honest, though. I was livid when my $5.50 basket of popcorn arrived! I would have gotten more from a 50 cent bag of microwave popcorn. What a rip-off! Then, on top of this as if to pour salt into the wound, the waitress brought the bill towards the end of the movie (which I couldn't make out in the dark) but I could make out the large Sharpie $18 and something written on it. We had only ordered 2 soft drinks and a basket of popcorn. Finally, when I could make out the details during a bright scene in the movie, there was a coffee added that we didn't order. The waitress said it was a mistake and corrected it, but it was still $15 + tip. (Yes, I still tipped her)

Terrivble Service
by Todd B.
Worst service ever. We were there Saturday night, it took over an hour and a half to get our food, and then it was wrong and frankly, cold. We never even received an apology. I recognize that when everyone comes in at once it is difficult, but I barely had time to finish my food before the two hour movie ended.

While its true that Raleighwood has not been known for serving good food, they must be given credit for trying recently. They have added Starbucks coffee, Cheesecake Factory cheesecake, as well as upgraded many of their dishes. The fact is that its a super concept and lots of fun. I have not encountered rude staff, but yes, food can take awhile. Thats the nature of the venue. One must go with that in mind and plan accordingly. My main issue is PLEASE, PLEASE, Raleighwood, go SMOKEFREE. I cant bring my kids in until you do.

going to Raleighwood for years!
by Ruthie M.
We have been going to Raleighwood for years and love it! The kids love to see movies there and eat ice cream! It is a great place for us to enjoy a night out without having to spend an arm & leg on admission to a chain theater plus dinner. You can't beat having a beer while watching a movie. My husband loves watching sporting events there with his buddies!

Absolute BEST place to watch movies, eat, save money!
by j b.
Raleighwood is the BEST place - regular movies theater cost a lot just to see movie, have a soda and popcorn -- at Raleighwood we can get a full meal, have a beer or wine, COFFEE and DESSERT for about the same - what a deal - I always wait til they get movies to g see them, so I can relax and enjoy it - regular movies theaters are crowded, expensive, and if I have to have dinner, I have to spend a lot somewhere else, I LOVE Raleighwood - honestly, wouldn't see a movie anywhere else...and it is one of our favorite restaurants too. Coppola wines, great hot wings, cheesecake factory cheesecake - what more could I ask for?!!! Anyone who hasn't tried it is really missing out on a great experience!
not to mention probably the most accommodating and pleasant waiters I have met in a long time.

NEW MOVIES, Gift certificates, and restaurant etiquette
RALEIGHWOOD shows NEWER MOVIES, for the last couple years we have been bringing movies in from 1 week- 1 month after they are released. The only time we keep movies that are out on DVD are when they are award winning movies that stay busy for many many months.
RALEIGHWOOD Gift certificates are good for ANYTHING they sell including addmission, food, superbowl tickets, ect.
Restaurant Servers make $2.13 an hour and depend on tips to live.

Deplorable and rude staff
by robin t.
Waiting staff arrogant. Had saved money to take children (3) to see Prince Caspian. Total bill ending up being $42 and some change. Not having a lot of money I felt I should leave some tip. I left $2. Our waiter, Todd, very insultingly, told me that a good patron tips at least 15-20%. Feeling very upset and insulted I asked for my tip back at that point. There is no sign indicating that any tip must left. He very rudely informed me that he would not return my tip, and stormed away. I did go back to get his name. My suggestion is to eat prior to going to movie then maybe visit marque theater instead--you won't have to be insulted before leaving. $42 bill was for hambuger, kids hot etc., not a 5 star restaurant. My second suggestion, Todd ,would be to go to a nice restaurant if you expect that much of a tip for your somewhat mediocre service. Tried calling to voice concern over staff, but of course no humans available only recorded messages

Management does not care about service
by Anonymous
I had a gift certificate to Raleighwood and I went there with 3 eager children. The manager refused to accept the gift certificate towards the entry fee, stating that it was only good for food in the restaurant. He acknowledged the gift certificate did not have this restriction on it and said it was just "printed wrong". Disappointed, I gave him my credit card for entry, and he said they would not accept credit either - just cash. He refused payment by gift certificate, credit card, and by personal check, and since I did not have enough cash on me at the time, I had to take 3 disappointed children elsewhere. I feel this is unconscionable bad service and I would not visit this establishment ever again.

Our Favorite Movie Theater
by James K.
Their logo says it all Great Movies, Food and Spirits. We never go to any other theater! Love the food -great selection, numerous local micro brew selections. No children under 18 without a parent assures no teen noise. No admissions after the movie starts assures few idiots. Upscale crowd.
Unlike other theaters you have to arrive early about 20-30 min before the movie starts so they have time to get your order. The waitstaff is great but they get rushed with the "late arrivers" who show up seconds before the movie starts and expect the waiters to read the menue to them and answer 20 questions! Show up early and you will have a great experience. It doesn't get any better than this!

Nice place to go sometimes

The food was ok and the seating is nice but a little jammed in together. This would be a place to take out-of-towners, especially kids or teens. Otherwise, why not go to a good restaurant and see a movie elsewhere. Adding in the cost of food, tip, and the admission, it wasn't that cheap. Still, an overall good experience.
PROS: Fun change of atmosphere
CONS: Food just ok, older movies

Eat & Watch your movie at the same time at Raleighwood

Raleighwood provides the best of both worlds--a restaurant and a movie theater. You watch a movie while eating. The waiters come to your table shortly after the movie begins and ask you what you would like to order. (You are not obligated to order anything.) The only downside to Raleighwood is that sometimes it's distracting to have a waiter talk to you while you're trying to follow a movie. Drawback to Raleighwood: They offer movies that are out on DVD/VHS. Plus the theater's ticket price has increased recently. It used to cost $3.00 to see a movie (plus whatever food you ordered). Now, I believe it's $4.50 for a ticket, which is around the price for a daytime matinee at other cinemas. Considering that Raleighwood shows OLDER movies (that are out on DVD/VHS), $4.50 is too much to charge for admission. Blue Ridge Theater (Carmike 14) costs only $1.50 for admission and they, too, show older movies that are out on DVD/VHS. Bottom-line: Give Raleighwood a try and see how you like it. It's not my favorite theater (by any means), but there are people who find it worthwhile.

Cheap Night Out, but . . .

The price is right, but Raleighwood is lacking in service and food quality. The last time my boyfriend and I went, our appetizer was cold and our entrees were sub-par. The servers were friendly, but seemed rushed. On the up-side, our seats were comfy and we really enjoyed the movie. Still, we probably will not go back.
