The Brookstown Inn is beautiful and rich with history. It was once an old mill and is lovely in its architecture. Very high ceilings, exposed beams and pipes, lots of brick, very cool. No two rooms are alike. For one stay, the guy at the front desk gave us several keys and let us look at rooms and select the one we liked. My husband and I have had several romantic get-aways to the Brookstown. We walked to Old Salem and several small, quaint restaurants, as well as drove to Renolda house and several other area attractions (great thrift shopping and antiquing). We enjoyed free continental breakfasts each morning and cookies and milk at night. We enjoyed the fluffy white bathrobes. A small museum is attached, which we enjoyed visiting. I recommend The Brookstown, as well as Winston Salem in general, for a fun getaway. Its affordable and easy, plus luxe enough to make you feel as if you've been on an expensive vacation!
