Ive rented through Cornerstone almost 6 yrs until recently. At first I thought they were really good caring people until I rented a condo and was there a few months and started smelling mold/mildew and they did nothing about it and all my furniture was destroyed by mold spores. I was NOT offered another apartment or anything. I was told to just clean it with Clorox. Well I couldnt clean my clothes and shoes and the fabric on my furniture with Clorox so that was bad advice. Not to include how bad it was on my 2 daughters health as well as my own. PLEASE keep looking! I wouldnt dare recommend anyone to rent from this Company. I see a lot of positive reviews about how wonderful this company is to rent from. I could see that because as an OWNER they are not looking out for my best interest or my home. I am the one that is paying them to take care of my property and I feel that they have done a horrible job. They are very unprofessional and have poor communication in their office. There have been several times that issues came up at with our property and I was not notified until I received a BILL for 500.00. When we finally found about the situation and wanted information on what happened, they could not tell us. They have no clue about what is going on at their properties that they are supposedly managing. They are rude on the phone and do not want to listen to what you have to say. They think that it is a joke and will repeatedly put you on hold and pass the phone around to others in the office. Again, they are VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! I am completely unsatisfied and if you are looking for a property management company, I would look else where. Obviously they are not looking out for the owner??s best interest! I wish I could give them a ZERO...I don't think they even deserve 1 star!

We had several issues with our apartment and when I called to tell them about it it was like I speaking martian to them! Cornerstone Real Estate should be closed down for treating us like that! By the way...I rode by my old place and it was still for rent!!! HAHAHA!!! But in the end I will have the last laugh! DON'T DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE!!!! First, I want to say that this is an EXCELLENT property management company. The BEST that you can find in Fayetteville. Not to mention that their staff is very professional and will attend to your concerns or issues.

Secondly, most of the negative reviews here are without any merit, whatsoever! They sound more like ramblings from a child and incoherent statements. Perhaps, the reviewers does not understand North Carolina Real Estate Law. There are certain ground rules that must be followed before action is taken against the homeowner of a rental or a tenant.

Most people think that once you rent a home or condo that you can do whatever you please since you are now a renter paying rent. Not so, there are ground rules that must be followed, in order, to keep some semblance of order.

If you live in a home, neighbors may complain about your home being unkempt, dirty or too many vehicles parked outside. It's your responsibility to take corrective action. If you live in a condominium neighborhood, again, there are ground rules to obey.

In either case, the tenant must do some research before moving into a neighborhood. Are there rules set forth? Is there a Homeowners Association? If yes, do they have rules that must be adhered to?

Again, people are naive into thinking that all they have to do is move in and be left alone. For the most part, this is true but if there are rules to be followed then one must follow them. This is, in order, to keep some semblance of order and peace in the neighborhood.

If you can't obey them then I can see where you will run into problems. Than, I would recommend that you find a neighborhood that has similar tastes and likes as you do. That will solve the problem.

If you are a drug user, move into a seedy neighborhood where you can be with people of similar tastes.

For people that have issues that need to be resolved. Please bring them up and allow the property management company the opportunity to resolve the issue or concern. Give it some time. Things don't happen in a snap. This is the REAL WORLD!!! Not television. Again, be aware that they must go through certain procedures to resolve some of these problems.

As I stated before, most of these negative reviews are without merit and mostly childish, at best. Seems to me, that these individuals do not know how to act like responsible adults. Not everybody acts or lives the same. Someone's trashy home might be somebody else's mansion. It depends how one lives. Nobody wants to tell somebody else how they should live!

Hopefully, you will realize that this is the REAL WORLD that we live in and not some UTOPIA. You won't find rainbows and unicorns in the city of Fayetteville, that's for sure.

I can see how certain types of people would give this company a bad name.... to make up a lawsuit that is against the company, that's a little extreme in my opinion. they have an A+ rating on BBB website, and it lists the issues real people have complained about, btw.

they have always been nice and real to me. they always use a nice tone with me and they handle issues as best they can. if i have an issue with what the owner says, they do their best to play middle man. they don't have control over what the owner says tho, so while it would be easy to be frustrated with Cornerstone, it wouldn't be right...

i do hope, however, that they have hired a new painter. since they rushed me in (i was staying in a hotel, just moved back to FAY), the rooms that were painted only received one coat and it looked pretty bad. they sent someone else very quickly, and i was satisfied.

every time i have called about needing something fixed, the handyman has called me either the same day, or the next biz day. he has always been super great and has made me (a woman) feel safe, which is important to me since i'm letting a complete stranger into my home.

if you take great care of the house you're living in, then you will reap the benefits... we take excellent care of the owners house, they have taken notice of us and are more open to our requests now.

the lawn was infested with grub worms because no one before us ever cared for the owners lawn. if it wasn't for a quick spray of some bug killer, her lawn would be gone in a year.

all i have to say is treat the house and the company like you would want yourself or your own house to be treated, and you will gain the respect you feel you deserve.

for those that feel like they were jipped because they didn't get the money back for application fees, deposits, or whatever, go talk to ANY apartment complex's leasing office. you will hear the exact same rules. just because you back out on a promise you made, doesn't mean a company and a home owner should pay.

if you take horrible care of the house you rent, you're not going to get the money back, end of story. they have to stretch that money as far as they can to repair all the damage or neglect you did to the house.

and for those that gave Cornerstone a bad review because of issues you had with a neighbor, you gave the wrong person a bad review. they can't control what issues you have with those around you. maybe you should give you neighbor a bad review instead...

all in all, do your own research. you don't have to trust everything you read on the internet review sites, check out the company yourself, check out BBB, etc.

As a "client" of Cornerstone I have to admit that I am more than unsatisfied with their buisness practices. From my exprience, I must say that the office staff is very unprofessional, the management refuses to acknowledge the problems that exist in the office, many times defending what is obviously a problem.

There are a couple of things that I would like to point out regarding the reviews that have been posted on this site.

First of all, look at the dates of the5 star ratings that this company has received. Do these dates seem to come shortly after a bad rating? I'm thinking that the Cornerstone staff is writing these reviews to make themselves look better. I can't prove it but if I was a betting person I would put my money on Cornerstone being the author of these ratings.

Secondly, all of the low ranking ratings seem to have a lot in common; unprofessional service, rude staff and ignored requests.

I have never taken the time to write reviews about a company that I do buisness with; usually I just don't give them anymore buisness, but because I am locked into a contract with Cornerstone I feel that I have to warn as many people as possible (landlords and tenants) about the service they will end up with when dealing with this company.

Dear Owner,

In response to your negative review about our company I would like to state that all of the inspections and pictures we sent you were very accurate.

When you and I first sat down and talked about you signing a contract with us, I then stated "Your home is very very clean and in great conditon" I also explained when you choose to rent out your home, you just can not expect everyone to be as clean as you are. Everyone would love to move out of their home and come back to it looking as if it were never lived in. Unfortunetly in the "real world" that will never happen becasue each person does not live the same way.

Each and every inspection was done as it was supposed to be, and you were given accurate pictures each time. Before we moved any tenant into your home a credit check and rental reference was completed on them. We try to notify every homeowner we work for to go over the application with them and also get their approval, you were very aware of who was living in your home and that they did have a pet. We would not move animals into a home that the owner did not want them there.

We work with several homeowners and keep in contact with them as best as we can. In the event that we can not reach an owner we have no choice but to make decisions on our own. Every item that you asked to be done to your home was, even after you moved back in and still wanted many more things taken care of. The house was cleaned more then one time and no matter what we did it was never pleased you.

Last but not least I would like to confirm that you did recieve money back from the tenants security deposit and it was over the amount of two hundred dollars. The check was written on November 11th, and you called on November the 19th and said "I did not recieve it"and asked us to get you another one ASAP. In efforts to try to make you happy we did mail you another one that day. Our employee at that time trusted you and made the careless mistake of not putting a stop pay on that check, ironicly they were both cashed.

So in return I hope you were happy with the fact we thought we could trust you also, but atleast we can honestly say you were VERY aware of what was going on with your home. Our office has documetation of everything that took place.

In response to your negative review about our company I would like to state that all of the inspections and pictures we sent you were very accurate.

When you and I first sat down and talked about you signing a contract with us, I then stated "Your home is very very clean and in great conditon" I also explained when you choose to rent out your home, you just can not expect everyone to be as clean as you are. Everyone would love to move out of their home and come back to it looking as if it were never lived in. Unfortunetly in the "real world" that will never happen becasue each person does not live the same way.

Each and every inspection was done as it was supposed to be, and you were given accurate pictures each time. Before we moved any tenant into your home a credit check and rental reference was completed on them. We try to notify every homeowner we work for to go over the application with them and also get their approval, you were very aware of who was living in your home and that they did have a pet. We would not move animals into a home that the owner did not want them there.

We work with several homeowners and keep in contact with them as best as we can. In the event that we can not reach an owner we have no choice but to make decisions on our own. Landlords ( homeowners) BEWARE! Worst experience They reassure you they will look after your property. They will take your money and you will never hear from them again.They rented my house for 2 years to the scum of Fayetteville, NC.. On a surprise return when house was vacant, they gave me house keys that were NOT mine, so I had to break into my own home.I CRIED. House was no longer recognizable. Their choice of tenants were obviously not screened. They sent me pics abroad that were deliberately their choice of images to keep me (the owner) convinced that the property was OK. House was trashed. Rent your house yourself and screen the tenants. Have not been paid any for repairs. They refuse to answer my phone calls. They told me the former tenants were so bad they used their security deposit for other repairs not related to my house? I said no pets. House had 2 BIG dogs that nearly attacked my neighbor. All carpets trashed, walls all messed up, stolen appliances, stolen patio furniture, all interior doors with big holes in them. I can only say, run away from them as fast as you can! Lawn ruined and dead trees on my return! Screens all broken and hanging off house. Smelled like a smokers inferno. Kitchen floor cut up.
Toilets leaking and tiles broken . BEWARE! A word to the wise, rent it yourself and screen your tenants well. Fayetteville is not the best place for tenants I hear. A lesson learned the hard way. Collee the owner is deceitful and cunning. Do not trust her!

They did their inspections and fixed things that I did not even notice needed to be done (on the exterior)!

Cornerstone was very unprofessional, my husband and i were fined for the ridiculous stuff, and it was on a weekly basis. We never ended up having to pay the fines because the people that were calling and complaining were harassing us about the issues. We had terrible neighbors that watched us, every little thing we did, they reported us. The neighbors lied to our faces about the complaints and the worst part was our neighbors were on the board of directors, he lied, to our faces daily, and the management together was so kiddish. It came down to him blaming cigarette butts on us when neither of us smoke and there are 8 families per unit, AND he chose to blame it on us.. This was in the Karen Lake condos. I wouldnt recommend living there or even checking it out. The rules are beyond belief and you have to watch your back. My car was also broken into, window smashed out and all. The management is more concerned with people picking up their pets feces, and whether they are following the rules than watching and making sure peoples belongings dont get stolen. Our neighbors turned us in for everything, things they didnt do themselves and when my glass from my car window was on their car, they didnt say a work to me, they just left and went on with there marry day. If you chose to rent, stand your ground, and enjoy being treated like your 2.

This company lacks professionalism. It has been a terrible experience renting from Cornerstone. There is no communication between the people who work there and the owner. The owner is extremely rude and unprofessional. We have been treated as if we are renting low income housing. It is difficult to someone to come out for mainenance. We were told that it may take up to a month for the heat to be fixed, in winter. All in all, we wished that we had gone with our first instinct to not rent from Cornerstone. We did love the house.

If it is convenient for them or when it will benefit them, they can get in touch with the owner within the hour! From the beginning of our rental until our too long departure, it has been nothing but chaos and a headache. Be cautious and make sure the house you're renting is worth all the stress.

As a landlord I am extremely satisfied with Cornerstone. I have several properties that Cornestone has managed for over 5 years. I feel that this team does all they can to have a great working relationship with tenants as well as landlords. They have always filled me in on the smallest details and have been quick to act on any issues that my tenants may have. There are times when you can do your best to have the best tenants and difficult situations will arise. Some tenants will damage property and not think of the costs associated with getting repairs made. Cornerstone has been very professional and dependable. I have always felt that they have had my interests close at heart. I have no problem at all recommending this company to any future and current landlords.

Repair requests are often ignored. Those repairs that are fixed expect to have taken out of your security deposit. Falsified statements are made in order to fund such repairs and services that are standardly done in most other rental companies (nail holes from wall hangings, steam cleaning of carpet, fresh paint...). In addition, any concerns voiced to the company are typically handled unprofessionally (critism of personal appearance, and name calling). I have never, in the three other rental properties that I have lived in in my lifetime thus far, had my security deposit held from me in full for repairs that were not of my doing. If you are a renter with this company, take pictures of everything and document who and when you speak to anyone because you will need the documentation when and if you should decide to relocate. If you enjoy being personally insulted and taken advantage of then this is the company for you. However, if you value yourself and money this is definately not the company for you.
