Stoen Mountain is the perfect palce to get away from everything and take a hike or picnic. The hike to the big waterfall has some of the most beautiful flowers and streams. There's picnic areas and restrooms for those who need them. Also, you can sit below the mountain and watch the climbers. There's so many pull off spots along the way to watch the deer gaze, or get out and walk around. Don't forget Widow Falls where you can slide down the waterfall. Definitely a beautiful place to visit.

We had a blast camping here. The tent sites are very spacious. We were very comfortable and felt safe with the rangers doing routine drive throughs. The bathhouse was very clean and the showers were hot! There was so much to do, we couldn't do it all in a weekend...but we did get in some hiking and fishing. We will definitely go back! High recommeded!

Pros: The views were awesome!

Cons: The hiking was not so easy, when your not in shape! BUT...we did it!

My family and I are big on camping, hiking, and beaches. We love to explore and spend time in nature. In all honesty Hanging Rock campground was our original pick. As it was full we went to Stone Mountain. We found an absolute treasure. We spent 6 days there and found the locals very friendly and helpful. The campgrounds are clean and wonderful. Almost all of them can handle 2 5 -6 man tents. Picnic tables that are located on the sites are more than ample. Everything is very well maintained. They only have a couple loops. And they have added on sites. However, be forewarned if you camp in it there is NO shade. We were lucky enough to have a site that was 1/2 and 1/2 just the way we like it. The visitors center has the actual maps of the park and trails. Would be nice if they could put some near the campgrounds (all they provide is maps of the campgrounds). We hiked 3 of the 6 trails. Stone Mountain Trail is a 4.5 mile hike and rated strenuous. Some portions of the trail can be extremely difficult. If you plan on going on it head for the Summit first instead of going to the Falls. Take plenty of water and your first aid kit. Scraps are possible. After talking with people on the trail they informed us that would be the way they would recommend hiking it. As it was we went to the Falls first. Well worth the view at the top no matter which way you go. The Falls are beautiful and a nice place to rest and enjoy your surroundings.Wolf Rock Trail (1.5 miles strenuous) and Cedar Rock Trail (1 mile moderate) are great trails. We had a lot of fun on them. Beautiful views. There is so much to do. The flora and fauna are exquisite. Nature lovers will adore this area.

Stone Mountain is a huge attraction for hikers and climbers. It has well maintained trails and stays busy with visitors all the time. It's worth it to get to the top for the view. Nice nature walks and picnic areas.
