I joined Peak Fitness on Duraleigh a year or so ago because my daughter had joined. I showed up to exercise one day at Duraleigh Peak Fitness and the doors were padlocked & the business was closed. I received a letter from Gold's Gym that our memberships had been transferred to Gold's and that the credit card I used had expired. I started getting monthly bills with stiff penalties included. I tried to cancel my membership by phone and was told I had to speak to a manager. i was on hold for 20 minutes, with periodic messages, that I was 5th in line to speak to a manager, then 4th in line, then 3rd, etc. When my turn came, the system disconnected me. A few days later, I got a call from a collection agency that my credit could be affected if I ever tried to get a loan, etc., etc. i paid the balances and hope my account is finally cancelled. Separate topic - I have belonged to the YMCA on Baileywick for two years & love it. It's clean and the staff are very professional.

Pros: None

Cons: I regret joining. Totally unprofessional in my opinion

This gym is okay, but definitely not my favorite. This was the first gym we joined. I will say that at the time, the childcare was fantastic! The equipment is pretty good and the classes are not too bad either. I'd recommend it.

SImply stated, it's a low class gym, from the personnel, to the broken equipment, to the customers themselves. Broken cardio STAYS broken, filthy facilities never cleaned, high turnover of staff, customers low class; never wipe down machines, clueless on etiquette towards others/gym bags on machines they are not even using. I was a member for TOO long due to finances, SO glad to move up/out of that dump.

Pros: CHEAP if you have no money

Cons: Everything else

I am not entirely happy with this location for the following reasons:
1) This "24 hour" location closes at 6 pm on weekends. WTF?!!!
2) The trainers are not very time conscious nor keep their word with regards to giving you appropriate info and schedules
3) They pitch their sales routine kinda hard so you gotta know what you're doing and be sure to read EVERYTHING!
The positive sides:
Of the entire mgmt and training staff, I'd recommend doing business only with Norris or Byron.
this is not a meat market, people of all shapes and sizes come to workout and everyone has their own particular goals. No one looks down on ya nor are they all looking for hookups, unlike other gyms.

I have a 1 yr contract with the gym and a 6 month contract with the trainer. I will probably fire the trainer in a month or two and depending on what I get accomplished in the next few months, I may keep the membership and renew for another 6 months.
Just watch yourself and be informed before you walk in the door!

Pros: Some good staff, people leave you alone to work out

Cons: Price, shady changes in business without notice

Hears the deal.....

The club promotes a 30-month membership for $250.00. What a great deal. I did just that. But what the have you sign is a one year membership for $250.00 and a second contract/agreement for 18 months with a cost of FREE. They tell you it all works out; you still get 30 months for $250.00......

The catch......

If the club sell out to a new owner, the new owner is only legally obligated to honor the part of your PAID membership, or 12 months. The free 18 months, since it?s free, has the potential of not being honored at all......

Also, the clubs are not the cleanest, loaded with broken equipment and not too concerned with the members.

Pros: Guess price if you make it to the end of your contract

Cons: Need to hire a cleaning staff, broken equipment

Signed up for 3 years prepaid, so that they couldnt keep taking money from my account like gyms tend to do. Associate told me that for this special deal he needs to confirm this with corporate and for now will write it up as 2 years. stupid me, i trusted him. Well, 2 years is up, and they wont honor our verbal agreement. Fine by me, since my fiance refused to use her free membership because working out there made her feel ill due to the condition of the facilities. She now goes to golds for more than 3x the price, and so will I. they keep making promises that are never delivered. dont listen to their remodel/upgrade/whatever they are going to do. some machines have stayed broken for over 2 months. They are now just closing locations with no warning, the Sheriff even evicted them from Cary.

Pros: cheap, location

Cons: horrible parking, dishonest, dirty

The equipment and facility is very good. The problem is that they seem to turn over management every couple months. Myself and a couple othere I know have been screwed over to varying degrees with membership costs. Part of my unpaid bill (that I believed was paid in full) was turned over to a collection agency without ever actually contacting me about the problem.

The only other negative is that a lot of the members never re-rack their weights after using them or wipe down their machines.
