Horrible store - I do hope that she had to close down. She is very rude for someone that works with "used" clothes. I would expect people at high end stores like Macy's to have her attitude, but she takes the cake. However, the people at Macy's are extremely friendly and helpful!
I took some clothes in - sizes 2 - 8 as well as shoes and jewelery and signed a contract with her. Not only did she donate all of the clothes, but said she only sold 1 pair of shoes and no jewelery. I got one check for less than $20.00 delivered by the USPS, return receipt requested. I found out later that she took all of the clothes to a donation store. She also got a receipt for taxes. You do the math!

What a low life!

Did Annie's Attic closed? I went by today 9/2010 and they were not at Ashworth's Village. Did she move her shop?

What a great shop! The items are clean and organized and the shop has a boutique feel. Great staff with a great atmosphere. Good parking even though it's located in the heart of downtown Cary.

I'm wondering if the previous poster is thinking about the right shop. Annie's Attic does not have a $12 consignment fee. Furthermore, when you sign the contract to consign clothing the contract and the owner state that clothes are not returned. They are donated to a women's transitional housing program. If you do have the right shop and just have your facts wrong, I'm sorry you had a bad experience.... that's not been our's at all. The owner can only neatly display, market, and advertise your clothing. She cannot force people that are your size and with your taste to come in and buy your clothes.

It's unfortunate that you feel the need to blast incorrect statements across the internet to try to harm this charming business.

I consigned a lot of nice clothing, some of it new with tags, to Annie's Attic. The owner charged me $12 to consign them, saying that the money would be used in case they needed to do any repairs, etc.

A week or two later, she called me to come pick up a silk dress. The zipper had broken and she couldn't sell it.

Several weeks later I called to see if things had sold or if I should pick them up. She told me that nothing had sold, and she had "donated" everything. She gave me no details on where or when she had "donated" it.

So I lost all the clothes, except for the dress that was damaged while in her store, and $12.

I'm also surprised at the negative reviews. I've never consigned anything there (I have almost all of my clothes altered, making them unsuitable for consignment) but I shop there quite regularly. On any given day it's likely that I'm wearing something from Annie's Attic. I've found the owner and other staff to be very friendly and helpful and I also love the botique feel of the shop. This isn't the Salvation Army and you aren't going to pay Salvation Army prices. This is an upscale shop with upscale clothing. I do know that I buy beautifully made, quality clothing there for about the same price I'd pay for much lesser quality at Target. That suits me just fine.

Truly, this is my favorite clothing store in the Triangle. There is always something new and I love to brag about the deals I get.

If you're looking for yard-sale clothing, this probably isn't the place for you. If you're looking for designer and/or quality label stuff at great prices in an upscale, botique environment you won't be disappointed.

I'm really surprised by the other reviews here. Annie's Attic is a top notch store and by far the best consignment shop I've seen in the Southeast. It even won Cary's Best of the West competition for the past three years (2006-2008) so it's obvious a lot of other people have discovered it and like it too. The owner and her staff are fantastic and go out of their way to help you find what you need. Not only that, but you don't have to pick through stained, outdated, or worn out clothing at Annie's Attic as the owner maintains a high standard for what she accepts. She's very knowledgeable about current styles and pricing trends, so if you know your labels you'll understand that you're getting quite a deal in her shop. She also has contracts with several boutiques across the country so she's able to get new and unique items to offer locally at a reasonable price. The store is clean and the atmosphere is fantastic. There's no rule against a consignment shop being comfortable and boutique like, and I'm happy to see an owner take pride in her store and make it fun and inviting for her customers. You really should check out this jewel in the heart of downtown Cary.

I , too, have found that this is not the ideal consignment shop. I brought in clothes and after my contract was over and I received my check I went back into the store just to find that several of my pieces were still out for sale! So when I questioned this I was told that it was just an oversight and that these items should have been pulled in donated as it was explained to me when I signed the contract. I then asked what would have happened if these items did sell- would I have received a check? I did not get a straight answer. I also have found the owner to be rude and pretentious.I think 5 on your side needs to investigate what really happens at consignment stores.

If this store is a jewel, Cary is in dire straights. I found the owner to be rude and the merchandise overpriced. When she explained her policy on consigning, I was surprised at the percentage that she takes. I decided not to consign with her for fear that her high pricing would hinder the chances for my clothes to sell.

I give this a 1 star. Although the merchandise is nicely displayed and clean and pressed, it is overpriced for used clothes. Many of the items are the price they were new at first markdown in the store.
The owner acts like she is running an exclusive high end dress
shop, with all of the snottiness that entails. People shop resale for a reason, and this is not a place for the usual resale shopper. Try Easy Elegance instead. It is friendly and more reasonably priced, and truly caters to the resale customer.
Not a good experience, not a good deal, would not recommend this store.

Annie's Attic truly is an upscale consignment shop. From the quality of the clothes/accessories to the shopping environment itself, it's a jewel in the heart of downtown Cary.
This shop will always amaze me. The customer service is top notch. It has some limited variety in the fact that plus size woman have trouble at that shop finding everything they need. Where ever you are you need to go to this shop.

I have shopped at Annie's Attic for years and could not ask for a better place to find the brands that I enjoy wearing. Tons of Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, J Crew and desiginer handbags!

The owner is very pleasant and she is always willing to provide her honest opinion on how an article of clothing looks on you. Let's be honest, we all need that from time to time.

Friendly shop and great finds. I will be a customer for life!

Cons: Nothing

I recently brought items to Annies closet and was not satisfied. Rebecca, the owner, has admitted to the Better Business Bureau that "the Carlisle jacket, was accidentally pulled off the floor when we were doing a donation". This jacket had a retail value of $395 which Rebecca, after getting rid of the jacket which was contrary to her consignment agreement, said was not "high end". Fortunately I taped her conversations and now have evidence that she lied, mislead and destroyed my property. According to her contract she becomes the owner of the cloths only after the expiration of the 60 day consignment period. I strongly recommend that you do not do business at Annie's Closet.

I've been shopping at Annie's Attic for several years and have found that it just gets better & better! Now there are even more high-end brands and more room to shop since the expansion. Great for finding designer jeans and boutique items like Coach bags (I found my laptop bag there). If you're looking for a cheap thrift store, I can see why you'd be disappointed. If you are looking for good prices on stuff from Banana Republic, J Crew, Talbots, Ann Taylor, etc. + designer bags, jeans, and shoes, you should check out Annie's Attic. The owner is understandably picky about what she accepts--which is why it's a great place to shop. She's always been very friendly to me.

I have been shopping and consigning at Annie's Attic for 10 years. The owner makes it a priority to know her labels and prices the clothing at a remarkable discount when compared to retail prices. This is not a thrift store and carries only the best clothing brands. I have consigned here as well and have always been impressed by the fair prices i have received for my clothing. I will never shop the mall again!!!!

Annie's Attic provides a great shopping experience. I get in the store about four times a year to update my wardrobe or find a specific work outfit. Everything is organized by size, color, and type of clothing...casual, work, dressy. The jewelry, shoes, and handbags are great additions. I am able to add to my wardrobe at very reasonable prices and the clothes that are sold there are in great shape that you really don't know they are second hand. The store is fun, clean, and decorated so cute. Be sure to look at the great wall paintings and cute sayings that are part of the decor.

Snotty owner acts like she is operating an exclusive dress shop and all that entails, instead of selling used clothing. Over priced! You can buy the same items new at first markdown in a retail store for about the same price. These are after all used clothes.. This store is not for the typical resale shopper. There are more welcoming places to shop!

I love treasure shopping at Annie's Attic. I can find near-new or brand-new items at approximately 75% or more off of retail. My closet's filling up faster than my wallet is empying. :-)

One of the best features of this shop is that the staff has a really good eye for styles that look good on me. I can give them a general idea of what I'm looking for and they'll come back with several excellent choices.

The prior reviewer must be a relative of the owner as that assessment certainly did not ring true with me. I found the owner to be rude and difficult to deal with. I switched to Classic Clothiers and couldn't be happier. The owner is genuinely pleasant and remembers all consigners while the owner of Annie's Attic is the opposite. I also found that my clothes now get a much fairer and realistic assessment than I was getting at Annie's Attic.

Annie's Attic, is one of my favorite places to work with and to visit. Over the past 10 years, yes 10 great years, I have seen how this business has grown. This consignment store has it all. The owner is a professional, smart and savy. She works for you. She knows the clothing market. She knows what will sell. She makes money for us. We need to applaude her for her knowledge of the clothing market and the upcoming trends in style and color. Let's be realistic this is a business that works for you, some clothing that you bring in my not work. OK. It may be to old, torn or stained. Ask yourself would you buy it? What were you going to do with it anyway. She provides the service of helping you simplify your life and get rid of the clothes you don't use. She even donates the clothes, you don't have to make that trip. So next time you go to Annie's Attic say "Thank you with a smile".

I just returned from a trip to the Raleigh area to visit my brother and his wife. Having been to Annie's before (pre-expansion), I knew I didn't even want to mess with Orlando consigning because Annie's was so terrific. I hauled three bags of clothes all the way there and could not have had a better experience. Even for an out-of-towner, I was treated like a local and the experience was seamless. The newly expanded store is SO much like a little boutique you would scarcely know it was consignment. There is nothing that feels "old" or "used" at all, and after consigning my goods and receiving very fair values for it all, I ended up spending over $100! The inventory is so nice... probably more than half of what I looked at still had price tags and everything was displayed beautifully. All the different types of clothes are separated into groups, then by size, and then by color in their respective sizes. Wow... attention to detail! The owner is super friendly and loaded with Southern charm, and the store was buzzing on a Saturday afternoon. I have no interest in finding a local consignment because I can't imagine they could come close to Annie's.

I have been a customer and a consigner at Annie's Attic for over 5 years and believe that both experiences are the best thing since sliced bread. There are so many positives...where to start?! As a consigner, I have always been treated fairly and my items have been priced appropriately. As a customer, I can always count on finding what I need at Annie's. The quality and variety of the clothing is outstanding and I love that I can find upscale brands (many times with the tags still on them!) in such wonderful condition. The organization of the store is fabulous - easy to find what you are looking for with color and item grouping. Now, you may be wondering, "What about the pricing? Is all this greatness going to cost me?" I am happy to report that the answer is "no!" Annie's has great clothing at very reasonable and accessible prices. Last but not least, I have to say that the owner and staff are also a very integral part of the shopping experience at Annie's Attic. From the moment you walk in you are greeted warmly and asked if you need any assistance. If you just want to browse, that's fine - no hovering salespeople here. But if you do need help, they are there to answer questions, assist with locating items/sizes and in general, provide you with a quality shopping experience. I highly, highly recommend Annie's Attic!

Wow... Annie's Attic is quite a find! I don't normally write reviews but the last one must be an anomaly so I had to put in my two cents. I had heard what a great place this was from numerous friends and I had also read that it was voted "Best Of" the past few years, so once I moved to the area I had to check it out. The owner is extremely personable and attentive, the store looks terrific, and I didn't see a single piece of clothing that wasn't 100% perfect in quality. Annie's Attic is obviously very selective in what they take in, which in turn makes the store more like a boutique than most traditional consignment shops around the southeast. At most consignment shops you have to pick through the junk to find the gem, but not here. There were literally gems in every color and in every size... both new and lightly used. I was like a kid in a candy store. The owner even told me when an outfit didn't fit me properly, costing herself a sale but gaining a loyal customer in the process. She also told me that they had just recently expanded Annie's Attic to make the shopping experience more enjoyable, so please go check out this shop and judge it for yourself. I for one, will certainly go back.

It's nice to see that Annie's Attic was recognized once again as the best consignment shop in the yearly Best of the West ratings. That's three straight years for this incredible little shop. The owner (Rebecca) has certainly worked hard over the years to make sure her customers and consignors are pleased with their Annie's Attic experience. Along with the gently used clothing she receives from local consignors, she also sells BRAND NEW unique items from boutiques around the southeast at 50%-75% off the retail prices. That's just one of the things that makes this shop so special. Great finds, great atmosphere, and a great staff... especially the owner. Congratulations!
