My son has been attending Buttons and Bows for the past 5 months. It truly has been a great experience for him and we feel very comfortable sending him there. His teachers (Miss D, and sometimes Miss F.) are a clear example of the kind of people I want my kids to be around. Smart and very kind, yet there is structure and they are strict, when need be. My son was a little behind on a few things (mostly communication), and in 5 months, the improvement in his communications skills is astounding.

As for the school itself, it's probably going to be on the cheaper side than what you may find in the area. That scared us at first and we did have some red flags when we first visited the facility. It's basically a house converted into a school. It's small and yes, the toys are older and used. There's no fancy advertisements for the school, heck, I don't even think they have a website. But when you dig a little deeper below the surface, you just find a charming school with great staff that actually care about your children and more importantly, they promote important values that really help put kids on the right path early. We also had our son undergo an evaluation through Wake County Preschool Services, and our case manager had all good things to say about Mrs. D and the school, in general.

As for the smell (mentioned a few years ago)...it smells alot like Lysol to me. Not overbearing...but you can smell it and I would consider it a good smell. It means they disinfect and keep things clean. And as far as security goes, the front door is unlocked and there's no desk. However, the classroom doors are always shut, and the teachers have a very close eye on the kids. And when they're out in the back on the playground, there's always a teacher (most of the time multiple teachers) at the gate. If the teacher doesn't know the person picking a child up, the child does not go with them unless there's confirmation from the parent or guardian that this person will be picking them up and they'll need to show photo ID. It's common sense, and alot of what the staff at Buttons and Bows deals in is common sense.

Incredible!! Our four-year-old loves it and so do we! When I take her in, she begs me to let her go hug Miss B., Miss F., or Miss Da! And she loves her current teacher, Miss De.! She has learned sooo much with Miss De. and the curriculum she teaches. And loves music with Miss C., too! The owners, Miss T. and Miss T. are loving, well trained, christian women and we love them, too. All of the positives are true. The quality of care, the level of instruction, and even the love they show. My wife and I are professional educators and we know that our child spends her day with professional educators, as well. By the way, When I have time to take my little girl to hug Miss B., that means I get one, too!!!

I went to numerous childcare places before choosing Buttons and Bows. There are other childcare places that are more high tech. I did not find any that came close to the experience that the teachers have here. My daughters teachers have been there for over 15 years. The other centers had such high turnover rates. The teachers at Buttons and Bows are there because they love kids and want to be there. When you meet the people, you get a warm feeling. I will have to say that the one thing that worried me when I was making the decision was that there is not a front desk when you walk in like most other places. I have found that the teachers do know the parents and when my husband came to pick up my daughter for the first time, he had to show his drivers license before they would let her go with him even though I told them he was coming that afternoon. They are great to work with on training issues such as potty training. I took a 4 day weekend to begin potty training with my daughter and I took her back to school and told them what I had done. The diapers were gone. They worked with her during the day and I worked with her at night and she was potty trained before she turned 2. They were so easy to work with. I highly recommend Buttons and Bows.

We moved our child to Buttons and Bows from KEC a few months ago. There is no doubt that KEC has a nicer facility and newer toys, but that is where it ends.
Our child cried almost every day when we left him at KEC and we received too many incident reports where he was the target of another child's aggression. Since the move he has come out of his shell quickly. He is smiling when I leave him in the mornings and the only problems that I have are with the mosquitoes that bite him and the sand he carries home when they are playing in the shaded playground. This is minor compared to the pros of this place.
The teachers here are seasoned and caring. Unlike an earlier review, I do not find there to be offensive odors. Of course I don't expect a place where diapers are changed to smell like flowers. Regarding someones comment on the security of the facility, the teachers know you and who your child is. A sign-in sheet at the door means nothing if the staff do not know you. I have also never seen a small child in the hall without an adult. Unlike the unhappy reviewer, I do have to pay for my child's care, but if you prepay the year they offer a small discount. They have enough variety of toys to keep my child interested and learning. Regarding food, I find it hard enough to get my own child to eat things that are good for him. I don't see anything from the menu that alarms me and as long as they feed him and keep him hydrated I am happy.

I have friends and co-workers that have their children at the various trendy day cares and the highly recommended downtown church day cares. I can tell you that their experiences are no better if even as good as mine.
Button and Bows is a bargain when you take into consideration that they offer quality where it counts.

Oh, I am obviously not the only person that has a positive opinion of B&B. Get on the waiting list early, it could take the better part of a year to get you child in.

In fairness.. We liked SOME of his teachers at KEC.

This place is wonderful! I had my daughter there since she was 2 years old, and the teachers treated us like family. All the teachers and staff are very friendly, and my daughter loved every single teacher she had. My daughter is in kindergarten now, and thanks of Buttons and Bows teaching program, she started kindergarten more advanced than the other children.
I don't know what the problem is with the person who wrote the previous review, but every single day I left my daughter there, I left her with a teacher and they have a sign-in sheet for the children.
Maybe because that person didn't have to pay for the preschool, all she had to do is to find something to complain about because it was free.
Well, in summary, Buttons and Bows is a good place for children and they have a good teaching program. I would recommend this place to anyone.

This place is unsafe; it has NO security whatsoever. The door is always unlocked, there is no front office, and no sign-in sheet. Nobody greets you; anyone can walk in any time, for any reason!!!!! ***Very unsafe*** The poor children are sitting ducks.

Additionally, everything in the classroom is old, dirty, and grungy. The carpets are dirty, the toys are dirty, everything you touch has a film on it (including the tables where the children work and eat) and there is no place for the children's nap mats. They place the children on the floor next to tables and chairs all over a cramped classroom! I nearly tripped over a sleeping child when picking up my son one day.

Then there is the food.... very cheap and not nutritious (cheetos and grape juice, for example). Oh, and did I mention the smell??? When you walk in the door, you are greeted by a smell that makes a hospital smell like roses.... UGH, horrible!

The only reason my child ever attended this place is because we did not have to pay for it, he received free tuition thru the "More at Four" program. I would NEVER have selected this facility and would NEVER pay for such substandard care.

Buttons and Bows is great. My son is 18 months old, and they take such good care of him. All of the teachers here are so friendly, and will take time to talk with you about any concerns that you might have. My child loves to go everyday, and play with his friends. He has learned so much with being in their facility. I would recommend them to anybody.

Your kid will love it here, all thou its not has high tech as other place but its nice and cozy , great learn programs and i like how they have play time more than once during the day, people are friendly and the teacher really care about helping your child, also they help with potty training and the price is more affordable then most . The location is away from the road which is also nice and its right near where most people work , they stay cleaning in the place, just would like a menu for the kids they seem to eat alot of the same thing over and over lol,
