Went there today after work, mind you it's not near my home. Placed order and waited for it. Get home it's half of what I ordered and the other half wasn't. There was more rice than anything else. The price was outrages to say the least. I

Imperial Garden is a hidden gem that is been has been around for a long, long time. I consider myself a conisour of Hot and Sour soup and I have not found anything in the triangle that can touch the Hot and Sour Soup made fresh every day at Imperial Garden. As much as I like that this is a hidden gem and like the quiet astmoshere, I felt it my duty to share my thoughts all of you reading these reviews. You must give this wonderful family owned and run establishment a try.

Imperial Garden is a great family Chinese restaurant. The staff is friendly and will soon know you by name, and most likely remember your favorites! The casual atmosphere makes this a perfect location for family and friends to have a night out and the restuaurant has plenty of seating for large groups. The menu has all the standards, but if there is something you are craving, just ask! The chef can prepare off menu and is happy to tweak dishes to your liking. My family has made Imperial Garden part of its week for nearly 15 years!

Pork Dumplings are amazing, as is the Shrimp with Black Bean Sauce. It is so good I am afraid that I won't be able to force myself to try other things here, but I love duck and the reviewers here are loving the duck, so I am determined to try it. This is the fifth Chinese restaurant we've been to since moving to Raleigh in 2007, it might be the only one we'll go to from here on.

For over 20 yrs i have enjoyed the food here but today was my last visit. The owner has never really been super friendly, but today she was just plain rude. And you cant treat customers that way and talk down to them. I dont understand the logic or just ignorance. The food has always been great, and I would love to go back once she learns how to treat people or is no longer there.

I was introduced to Imperial Garden about a year ago after having given up on finding good Chinese food in Raleigh. I fell in love at first bite! I've been back again & again and am impressed with each dish that I've tried. The steamed Pork Dumplings are tender & flavorful, the Beef& Broccoli is crisp-tender and melts in your mouth, and the Bean Curd Family Style is pure heaven!

Beyond good food, this place has good people! Helpful, friendly waitstaff make each dining experience enjoyable.

Coming from Washington DC my husband and I have had Duck from several places from the high end to the mid priced. We have tried Duck in Raleigh before but none compared until we visited the lovely, quaint, family restaurant of Imperial Garden. This Duck is truely prepared with Love! The taste excites your taste buds. I look forward to going back soon! I would definetely recommend this to anyone who knows about good Peking duck which by the way is prepared several ways.

Coming from the Boston area I never thought we would find good chinese food in Raleigh, but the Imperial Garden is great! Their food is fresh, tasty, and always cooked to order. The Mu Shu pork is my favorite along with their black bean or garlic sauces.

The family wanted Chinese. The wife and I wanted a sit down meal. But it was a nice night so was asked to be seated outside. We were treated to great service. They had to open the other door to service us. The waiter went out of his way for us and the owner came out to check on us. Oh, the food was excellent too.

The Imperial Garden Restaurant is a great dining experience for my wife and I. Clean, excellent service, and a great healthy atmosphere where we enjoy taking guests and family. I?ve been enjoying this restaurant since about 1990 as I recall. Never been to China so I can?t speak for authenticity but I know good feed when it enters my mouth.

I notice there are some negative comments in the reviews that are posted anonymously and I can?t help but wonder why these people didn?t have the courage to engage management of the restaurant while there. How can a restaurateur improve the service or quality unless they are given the opportunity while there rather than cowardly expressing an opinion? Just makes the ?review? all the less valid.

We enjoy eating here any day of the week. They are especially accommodating when I ask for white sauce and no salt or MSG in my chicken and broccoli. We love the won-ton soup and the egg rolls too. Everything we have ordered has been delicious and the service is good.

Just ate here for the first time tonight and will be going back again. I had the Garlic Chicken with only broccoli extra spicy [and boy did they make it so :)]. I was crying it was so spicy but that's how I wanted it and they did it just right. The flavor behind the spice was delicious. My husband got orange chicken and my children got Chicken Broccoli. The wait staff was very courteous and kept our glasses full with ice water. Since my family moved down here from NY we have not been able to find a good Chinese food restaurant. THE SEARCH IS OVER. The food is great the staff is great and there is a very nice feel to the place. Everyone else in the restaurant seemed to be in good spirits and smiling which is a good indicator that the food was not just wonderful for us. So if you are a Northerner who has relocated down the NC and are looking for a great Chinese food place you have found it in Imperial Garden. If you are a Southerner then I am sure you already know about this place but if you didn't don't hesitate to go.

The restaurant was not too crowded depending on what times and day of the week you go in. The prices are reasonable and the serving of the food are enough to fill you up. However, the egg rolls was not up to expectation..it look messy and didn't taste good.

Went to Imperial Garden based on the reviews in this site. We had very good service and the Orange Chicken was the best I've ever had. The fried rice was really good too. The place did smell a little funny when you first walked in, but it looked clean overall. My husband and I will go there again.

Imperial Garden is one of our favorite spots in the area!!! The owners/waitstaff always greet us with smiles and make us feel very welcome. I have a hard time finding restaurants that are able to cook my food with splenda and it still taste great. I wasn't sure if they offered that until I asked and the response I got was hilarious: "Burger King isn't the only place where you can 'Have it your way!"" When we don't know what we are in the mood for, they recommend dishes to us and they have all been delicious! There are so many Chinese restaurants around the area and we are glad that we have found THE BEST!!!

I have been eating here for over five years now, ever since I moved to the Raleigh area. I have lived all over the US and never found a place that is more consistant over the years. The food is delicious and the staff is very accomodating and friendly. Any special requests are never a problem here. I'd love to choose a favorite, but I am having a hard time. I think I most often crave the Kung Pao Chicken. You can get this cooked anywhere from very mild to extremely spicy depending on your mood. They have many delicious vegetarian dishes as well. The soups are all excellent....you can't go wrong.
Try this place....you will not be sorry....I guarantee it!

I not really sure the food is actually chinese! The spring roll looked like a taco. It was drenched in a sugary brown sauce. The dumplings had sauage meat in them. The entrees contained a rubber beef b/c of the large amount of fat on the meat. And once again that sugar sauce was soaked into the beef.. You know, the kind of sugar consistancy that leaves a film on your teeth. Eek! I do not need a cavity! Needless to say, my husband and I only consumed the white rice. I believe the restaurant has OVER americanized it's food. Also the table was dirty and the booth was very uncomfortable b/c of the rips and backside indentation. I was swolled into a gluteus maxiumus black hole. Don't waste your hard earned money!

I think this place is great. The food is always fresh and tasty. The family who owns the restaurant are always extremely nice and the service is great. I recommend the General Tso's Chicken. Also, while not on the menu, the Chow Fun noodles are great. You can ask and they will make them for you.

After seeing the 5 star rating on google maps when looking for a good chinese food place nearby, I thought this would be a winner. WRONG! This place was average to poor food quality. The General Tso's Chicken was disgusting (ate one piece and left the rest for garbage, and wife did the same). Crab rangoons were not that great (my wife loves them usually- this is the first place she's really complained about). Chicken and brown rice was bland. Nothing we ate was good enough to order again. Oddly enough I really liked the atmosphere of the restaurant when I went to pick up, and the service for takeout was excellent. Overall, I'd say P.F. Chang's and Red Dragon (close to 5-points in downtown Raleigh, although I haven't eaten there in years) are the only good chinese restaurants I've experienced in Raleigh. At least the atmosphere of this place was better than the one up on New Falls of the Neuse.

This is authentic chinese food! This quaint restaurant has excellent service, large portions, and excellent dishes. Being vegetarian, I am very wary of chinese restaurants because most don't consider chicken stock as meat. When I ordered Moo Shoo Vegetables and told the waitress I'm vegetarian she said "ok, we'll be sure not to use the stock". When the staff know the details of the kitchen it shows that everyone works together to make a great experience not only for themselves, but for the patrons, too.

I've been eating IG since the mid 90's. Their food is top notch and a great value. Many Chinese restaurants cut corners when it comes to food quality, IG does not. My favorite dish is their Chicken Wings. They are maninated and then fried, absolutely amazing. I have not had a dish that dissapointed. Like others have said, they will make almost anything. Just ask. June and Meena are a pleasure to deal with as well as the rest of the staff. I live in DC now and I still make it a point to visit IG whenever I am in town. In fact I get excited about trips to Raleigh BECAUSE of IG!

Probably the friendliest, nicest staff you'll find anywhere. That alone is worth a visit. The food is usually good, but not consistently so. The spring rolls are an exception; they're always great. The other dishes wildly vary depending on the day you visit. More than once we've had a dish where they appeared to have forgotten a key ingredient (imagine an order of sesame chicken arriving without any hint of sweetness whatsoever - basically just soy sauce). Other days the food is top-notch, though never quite on a par with Peking Garden. But as I said, the service is amazing -- any problems you might have will get solved -- and you will almost certainly leave happy.

I am very glad that my family found this restaurant. There is no other Chinese Restaurant that I have found around here that can make me authentic dishes. If you ever want anything traditional, you can call and ask their head chef to make you just about anything you may crave. The food made me feel like I was back home in Hong Kong. The service was very nice as well. I really recommend this restaurant if you are looking for great, authentic chinese food!

There is no restaurant like Imperial Garden...not just Chinese restaurant...any restaurant. I try to go once a week for lunch. The choices are numerous and the prices are so low. I can eat lunch there for less than I could eat at a fast food joint, and the quality of food and service is so much better. The fried spring rolls are a must for an appetizer. Go and enjoy...and tip well.

Great food that's in my price range. The atmosphere is very nice. The folks are always friendly. Have had quite a few business lunches there and the lunch service is fast. My favorite is the Pan-Fried noodles, YUM!

Note: Fufucat's review is worthless since he/she obviously doesn't know what they were talking about. It sounds all too personal and bitter to have any merit. I've eaten plenty of meals there and I can honestly say that it's some really good Chinese food.

The Imperial Garden is a gem that some have discovered and many others ought to discover! The hospitality is unparalleled and the food is incredible. Business lunches are quick and very affordable while still being super tasty. And aside from the traditional menu items, on special occassions such as New Years Eve and Valentines, the restaurant offers unique and creative specials that you won't find anywhere else. Try the award winning fried dumplings as an appetizer to whet the appetite and choose from the plethora of other choices for a main dish. Chances are, you can't go wrong with any of them.

Try the award winning fried dumplings as an appetizer to whet the appetite and choose from the plethora of other choices for a main dish. Chances are, you can't go wrong with any of them.

This restaurant has been on Leadmine Road for 18 years and our family has dined there since the day it opened. A restaurant must be good to be in business this long. Meena and Patrick also owned and operated the Hang Chow restaurant for many years until it burned down some time ago. The food here is excellent and made to order. From the time you are greeted at the door by Meena, June or Grace and served by Amy, Victor or any one of the capable wait staff, you know that you are their top priority. Mr. Wong and Patrick are masters in the kitchen. The eggplant with shrimp and scallops is outstanding and the Lake Tung Ting Shrimp is some of the best I have ever had. The atmosphere is relaxed, the food is good, the price can't be beat. Go and enjoy!!

My family has been going to Imperial Garden for several years and we LOVE it! It looks like your typical strip mall Chinese restaurant, but the food is of a much higher quality than most places. My favorite Chinese dish is kung pao chicken, and the version served here is the best I've ever eaten anywhere, period. It's so much better than the kung pao chicken I've had in cities famous for their Chinese restaurants like San Francisco and Toronto. At most places the kung pao chicken is mostly cheap-tasting vegetables with a few bits of chicken and some peanuts, but at IG the dish features tons of chicken and peanuts in a thick, spicy sauce that's amazing.

The fried rice is great, too, as is the egg drop soup. Combine the high quality, tasty dishes with prompt, capable service and very reasonable prices and you've got a definite winner.

This place rocks! I can't believe any other Chinese restaurant would be voted best in the Triangle. Both sides of my family have been eating there for 10 years, though we live 20 minutes away. I can't remember a time I had a meal that wasn't at least very good. The sauces are rich, flavorful -- the antithesis of bland Chinese food, which I can't stand. The owners are very friendly. Like another poster said, the Kung Pao Chicken is excellent, so is the General Tso's Chicken. Good sampling of Thai, too. Prices are very reasonable. Atmosphere is casual but not common, dominated by soft (sufficient) light and friendly staff. Do yourself a favor and eat there!

Much to my suprise, visiting Imperial Garden turned into an enjoyable experience. I ate lunch with Mina, June, & the rest of the staff and left there with a smile. While waiting for my Crab Rangoon and Egg Rolls I patiently observed the entire staff meeting and greeting with the "locals", giving hugs, asking about family members and sending well wishes. Then came the food, the Egg Rolls were HUGE and fresh while the Crab Rangoon actually had tasteful crab inside. Then came the Chicken Shrimp & Broccoli - again, fresh and huge portions. For someone who typically isn't a Chinese food fanatice, Imperial Garden was great. Thanks for the great lunch.

I'm ever so glad that I moved into the Greystone area - one reason being the Imperial Garden. The owners are wonderful and the friendly staff just add to the enjoyment of great food. Try some of their Philipino selections, too!
